Does it make more sense for me to repost everything, post by post, or does anyone here know anything about archiving the old pages so that we could just link to them in the first post of a new thread? By the way, you can access all the old threads and posts for (I believe) 12 more days here: oldforums.comicbookresources.com/forumdisplay.php?17-Classic-Comics (thanks, Wildfire2099!)

I'm not sure the links will last. They're saying the old threads will be available for 14 days.

Upon some quick google-fuing I found something called ScrapBook. It's a Firefox extension which archives webpages. I'm assuming by using this extension you'll be able to access any archived pages even after the 2 week grace period. www.xuldev.org/scrapbook/This only solves a rush problem if we find that a copy and paste route is what has to be done, but it's something.

I'm on a limited connection right now and barely able to read posts, let alone reply to them, but I will definitely look at this tonight. Thanks for doing the research, thecolortechnic!

I think, for now, people should move their own stuff. Things like the big 'what did you buy today' thread and the 'what did you read today' thread probably don't need to be moved. Review threads and ongoing discussions probably do. AFAIK, there isn't an easy way to access the old stuff other than the crappy copy and paste method. Perhaps next weekend, just before the 14 days, anything that's not moved that we really think is important we can move. that's alot of time and effort for one (or two) people, though, so spreading it out would really be nice In case it's not elsewhere (and Shax, maybe put this on the first post), the old board is here: oldforums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?479565-Classic-Comics-Book-Club-2014

Once things are moving, can we get a stickied directory for review threads? I think it'd be convenient to have to be able to have one spot from which to go to any review thread. Especially for new people along the way, like myself at CBR who only knew of the review threads but didn't know which exactly had been done as they were buried towards the back.

We discussed doing this back on the old board, but it never materialized for some reason.

It's missing the posts from the final day. That's the only word of caution I'd add.

One thing we could do is add an archive forum on this board and stick them on this site for safe keeping. That way this site can be the one stop shop for classic comics.

Anyone know if there are legal ramifications for doing something like that? If we take the content and transform it, that's one thing, but a straight-up archive of CBR's property seems problematic. I know Aaron King is downloading all the threads he can for personal backup right now, but I'd love a clearer sense of how we can and cannot use our old content in the eyes of the law. It's scholarly material, being discussed for scholarly purposes, and it's entirely nonprofit (I'm not receiving any revenues for ads the hosting company throws up on this site), so I THINK reposting our old content is okay, but outright archiving CBR's pages...

I have poking at this... you can actually print the thread to a PDF, and it takes the entire thread, so that's a great way to save stuff. I wonder, is there a way to convert said PDF to a text file while keeping the post demarkation intact?

Might be easier still to convert the PDF to a JPEG and then post it here as an image.
But I'm still concerned about the legal aspect. Can anyone weigh in on this?
