I would like to see this forum to get rid of the Blue (New) Button that you see on the far left side of the Board underneath Subject Matter. I feel that the Blue (New) Button is redundant and the reason why is that on the far right side is the Member's Name and it's been time-stamped and those items are the newest subject matter that currently discussed right now.
I know that some members here probably prefer to keep it as it is - but my idea will free all Boards of unwanted flagging of new topics. If you go to the 2nd and 3rd pages - it's still have the Blue (New) Button but lesser degree.
I don't know it is an easy thing to do - but if a member through it's own profile can remove it - I would like to see how it's done. I have been thinking about this for the past 2-3 weeks and I trying my hardest to explain what I would like to see the Blue (New) Button removed permanently from this forum.
Thank You for your considerations here.

Clicking on the blue button also takes you directly to the new posts rather than having to scan through older posts to get to the new material, so it is a functional piece not just a visual flag. It makes it much easier and quicker to scan through new matrial rather than having to slog through older posts already read to get to the new material. It also helps those who are only following a few threads to see when new material is posted in those threads quickly. I for one would find the site far less functional and more difficult to navigate without the blue new button link and notification.

As usual with most things (except pertaining to the Red Sox) I agree with mrp

I did not know that and I thought it was a useless piece of information on the board itself. Thanks for your response here.

The "New" button is fundamentally different than the timestamp. It keeps track of content that you personally have not clicked on.

I like the flag but it is nice to know I can do the same thing by clicking on the last post (if I'm understanding correctly). I find the blue button to be very temperamental and unless I get the pointer on just the right pixel I get taken to the beginning of the thread.
