Ah, great pics (Tierney, J. Stewart, Lynda Carter, to name a few) as always, Mecha. I have heard of Eleanor Parker, of course, but am not so familiar with her work, so special thanks for posting these and "introducing" her to me--she's lovely. Do you have any of Parker and Granger together in Scaramouche? Check out the women's prison classic "Caged" for great performances all around, including Parker in the lead.

Thanks for the suggestion, Prince Hal--yes, I should really take a look at that movie, I've heard a lot about it. And now that I think about it, I recall I have seen Parker in a lead role, in Interrupted Melody--about the life of the opera singer Marjorie Lawrence (Maureen O'Hara was an early contender for the role). Parker was great in that movie.

I was going to suggest "Caged" but it looks like everybody beat me to it. Eleanor Parker was nominated for Best Actress for her role in "Caged," but look at her competition!
Gloria Swanson - "Sunset Boulevard" Bette Davis - "All About Eve" Anne Baxter - "All About Eve" Judy Holliday - "Born Yesterday"
It seems inconceivable that Judy Holliday won, until you've seen "Born Yesterday."
Poor Eleanor never had a chance in 1950. She's also in "The Woman in White," "The Man with the Golden Arm" and "Detective Story," all of which are worth your time.

Davis might have won had Baxter gone along with the original plan to have her be considered in the Supporting category. Tough to play the title part and be thought of as a supporting player, though.

Right. And Sunset Boulevard--with its caustic view of Hollywood--was looked at at biting the hand that feeds it. So there was industry resentment for the film, with Swanson losing out in the Academy voting, despite her triumphant comeback performance.
