An excellent Jerry Ordway cover from an underrated (and largely forgotten) mini-series: Rightly forgotten because it is atrociously bad.

Very disappointingly so. I was all geared for something great, and got a load of twaddle filled with "plot-induced-stupidity". At least the history lessons were cool.

I was surprised when I started noticing how many people don't like this. I bought it when it was brand new and I've always liked it a lot! I still have it and I still read it every two or three years.

Yeah, I'd wager that Slam was just offering his opinion of that story, not slighting foxley's entry. It's a fine cover, foxley. Always love seeing the JSA.

The story is the worst excesses of Roy Thomas retconning/rationalizing coupled with a plot that makes everyone act like a stupider mirror image of their normal characterization and frankly makes absolutely zero sense.

They were exiled for blatant cover swiping I've did not know about the other cover - Mystery of Space and I've thought the JLA one was an unique cover. Honest. Hey, it's a cool cover. Nothing wrong with a little swiping. Murphy Anderson drew both covers, so he was just swiping from himself anyway. The Superman #28 cover Paradox posted is also an homage, so you're in good company.

Nice. My first thought was a PEP cover showing Archie ousting The Shield and The Hangman, but the heroes did a gradual fade-out over seven or eight issues. I didn't feel there was a single issue that fit the theme.

Because Batman and Superman were "outcast" by Robin.

I enjoyed this run when Buckler was handling the Art. I remember The Comic Book Journal attacking him for swipes and some dialogue they considered racist.
