In a nice case of thread crossover, I've just noted in my Star Wars comic reviews thread this swipe by Carmine Infantino of an earlier panel by Walt Simonson...  The left-hand panel is by Infantino and is taken from Star Wars #27, while the right-hand one is by Simonson and is from Star Wars #16. Note that the panel of Infantino's isn't a flashback to the scene in issue #16 or anything. It's supposed to be an entirely different moment in the character's life. |

Ah yes, Infantino--I mentioned his Supes (Red Tornado #1 cover) over in the weekly Classic Comic Cover Contest recently...  I don't know if youcould call that a swipe--batman's posture is different than Red Tornado's, and superman's drawn from a different perspective. Plus, there's a good chance that Infantino laid out the Titans cover. |

Plus, there's a good chance that Infantino laid out the Titans cover. MDG, that's a great point about the layout. Infantino certainly could have laid it out, though from what I have read Cardy was one of the DC artists who usually did his own cover layouts during that time. As for the Batman and Tornado, and the rest of the composition: I was referring to the Superman figure and not the entire cover--which is why I specifically mentioned Supes. Yes, the pose is fairly typical for this scenario--just one example, Neal Adams (who as we know was doing work for both DC and Marvel then) used it for Thor on Avengers #92 a year and a half later . However the Infantino Superman musculature caught my eye as being very similar to that in the Cardy Superman. At any rate, whether or not CI actually referred to the earlier Cardy image, IMO it's a great image of Superman, by two very talented artists. |

Looking at the house style thread made me think- How many artists have swiped the style of another artist?
I can name Phil Jimenez as a clone of George Perez.
