Hello! Anyone familiar with Fantomas by Marcel Allain and Pierre Souvestre? I am desperate to find vintage copies of the comics for a friend as a surprise but can't find anything. Maybe there aren't any available? Would also like to learn more about it because he was a fascinating villain.

I never knew they were comics, I recently just bought the DVDS though and they were fantastic. I don't know if he already has the DVD's but I will look into that as well!
Under info I found about the 'Comics' that were done, this is the only thing I could find
"Fantômas contre les Nains [Fantomas vs. the Dwarves]. A weekly color page written by Marcel Allain and drawn by P. Santini was published in "Gavroche" Nos. 24-30, 1941. This series was interrupted because of censorship; a sequel, Fantômas et l'Enfer Sous-Marin [Fantomas and the Undersea Hell] was written but not published.
A daily Fantômas b&w strip drawn by Pierre Tabary was syndicated by Opera Mundi from November 1957 to March 1958 (192 strips in total), adapting the first two novels. Seventeen Fantômas fumetti (photo-novels) magazines adapting Nos 1, 2, 3 and 5 of the book series were published by Del Duca in 1962 and 1963. A new weekly, Fantômas color page, written by Agnès Guilloteau and drawn by Jacques Taillefer, was again syndicated by Opera Mundi in 1969 and published in "Jours de France".
Here is a link to a page about it. Towards the bottom it talks about the comics and even has a cover pic.

You're welcome! I have not read those, but I have other issues from the BDétectives series that I enjoyed a lot.

A really nice reference on French Pulp and Comic Book Characters is 'Shadowmen' and 'Shadowmen 2' by J.M. and R.J. L'Officier, who are the go-to source for this sort of thing. The first volume mostly covers pulp and adventure fiction and the second focuses on comics. They come very recommended. Unfortunately, their coverage of Fantomas is mostly restricted to the original novels.
