I could have sworn Ch'p has been back in the New 52 era, though... at least as wallpaper. No?

What's up with Kamandi? Not even a nod in the Nu52 as far as I can tell (admittedly, I am not much of current comics reader though)....

That's a good question outside of his appearances in Batman the Brave and the Bold I don't think he's been active in the DCU since before Crisis on Infinite Earths

Also looking at the GCD tells me Kamandi appeared in one of the stories in Adventures of Superman #2 (2013; reprinting the digital first series) and just appeared in the Booster Gold Future's End one shot that was part of the September 2014 DC new52 event.

BTW, any thoughts on the thinking behind the creation of the Bat-Squad? Haney wrote it, so I assume it was not written for another Batman title. Can't think of anything in pop culture that might have led to its creation: Mod Squad, maybe? Oh, and according to siskoid.blogspot.com/2011/04/b-2-in-1-round-5-bat-squad-vs-iron-fist.html, the letter column in B&B #94's "reveals 'overwhelming' support for the team, garnering more letters 'than any other event in B&B...' " I have only pure speculation, which is admittedly worth very little, since I don't know of Haney, Boltinoff, or Cardy ever speaking on the record about the team. But here's my speculation, for what it's worth. I believe Haney (perhaps at Boltinoff's suggestion) was toying with the idea of introducing recurring supporting cast members to B&B. That may have been a perceived weakness of the book, and although we don't think of Haney as a prime practitioner of comic book continuity, there are tiny streaks of it scattered across his B&B and World's Finest runs (in particular, I'm thinking of Ruby Ryder and Plastic Man in B&B, Super-Sons and Thomas Wayne in WF). The Bat-Squad could have provided continuity between issues, with the disparate Squad members facilitating the kinds of globe-trotting that Haney favored. As associates of Batman, they could have called him in to various hotspots that the issue's guest-star might also have been involved in, providing a slightly more plausible mechanism for team-ups. They might even have been considering abandoning the team-up format entirely, to have B&B be the "international" Batman book, with the Squad calling the Caped Crusader in on their latest adventures around the world. Whatever plans, if any, were obviously abandoned, and wisely, since B&B ran on for 106 more issues adhering to the (usually) independent team-up episodes, never showing much difficulty in justifying Batman's involvements. But at this point, they'd only done 18 straight issues of Batman team-ups, and maybe they were concerned about maintaining the premise without some additional fiction-structure in place. Like I said, pure speculation. Oh, and I do like your hunch that "Mod Squad" might have influenced the team's name. That sounds very plausible.
