Taco Bell's new anti-McDonald's commercial set to debut during the Walking Dead finale casts McDonbald's as an Orwellian dystopia breakfast tyrant I like the clown guards and minefields of exploding Happy Meal tchtachkes, but isn't this a case of a consumerist pot calling a consumerist kettle black? And really the Ramones? Punk co-opted to the fast food corporate theocracy? Sheesh, whodathunk I would live so long.... -M PS I think Dan B might be spinning in his grave over this and he's not even dead.....

This is the kind of stuff that will lead them to winning the Franchise Wars of 2032.

Something of theirs -- quite possibly "Blitzkrieg Bop" -- showed up in an advert for something or other back when I was in North Little Rock, I'm almost positive, so probably in the '90s.
A quick Google search shows references to ads using the song for some kind of beer back around 1990 &, 12 years ago, AT&T Wireless.
Off the top of my head, I'd say ad people have long been more aware of decent music than the evil morons who program radio playlists.

The only thing I know about the Ramones is they sang happy birthday to Mr Burns.

Taco Bell. Guys. No need to go all out with the fancy mini-movies and overblown production values. You had me with tacos made from Cool Ranch Dorito. (I kid. I haven't eaten there in years.)
I'm just relieved that someone is finally standing up to the Evil McEmpire by offering a healthy, nutritious, quasi-ethnic alternative.

Now that should be in the humor thread. I was laughing the whole time at the different reactions to the food. I as a rule don't eat fast food at all. But about once to twice a month, I will tear into some Taco Bell. It's really delicious.

Definitely pot & kettle situation, but at least the video is pretty funny. I always thought McDonalds wanted to take over the world. And the jumping into the ball pit/moat like McD's play area was cute.

(dictionary updated to show "delicious" is now defined as "adequate if you're really hungry and the good restaurants are all closed")

Haha, I know ya'll like to joke, but I do know TC isn't real Mexican food. And I do like real Mexican food and Tex-Mex which abound a lot here. Mexican cuisine in general is one of my favorites. But I also do like the American bastardized versions of it too. It's all good.
Now Mexican alcohol ... tequila, Corona, Tecata ... ugh

isn't this a case of a consumerist pot calling a consumerist kettle black? Yes...yes it is. And really the Ramones? Punk co-opted to the fast food corporate theocracy? Sheesh, whodathunk I would live so long.... Man, Johnny Rotten and Iggy Pop are both corporate shills selling dairy produce and car insurance respectively. Punk is dead and everything those two say is now suspect. Every. Single. Word. ...Ever. About anything. Also, why would anyone have McDonald's for breakfast?! If a fast food joint, serving unhealthy, mass-produced s**t is where you eat the most important meal of your day...you need to sort your lifestyle out, I would think. I've no idea what Taco Bell's like. Pretty sure we don't have 'em in this country.

It's not too uncommon for Blitzkrieg Bop to show up in commercials and the like. Hell, the Ramones provided the soundtrack to a movie starring themselves ( Rock 'n' Roll High School).
