The High-Chancellor’s Headquarters, Lobby…
The face-off was well under way as Starman grasped at his cosmic rod, ready to fire. He was utterly lost in the moment. On the one hand, he didn’t lose a seventh friend. The Arachnid had survived getting shot, and was apparently better than ever. On the other, the High Chancellor was his enemy, plain and simple. All the grief of the past few days were because of him.
The Rebels of Rann and Thanagar waited as the Cosmic Rod charged with energy. The High Chancellor knowingly laughed as he expected nothing to happen.
The face-off slowly built up. Time seemed to move slowly, and the slow curl of the High-Chancellor’s lips disturbed those who opposed him. The creepy old man had believed himself to be crown champion already.
Starman smugly smiled, “You’ve tried to beat me before. My will is stronger. I won’t let you do this bull to anyone else. You’ve enslaved two planets! Two!” Starman roared, his anger building up, “How dare you? How dare you enslave people just to please yourself. These people fear you too much to have already taken you out. They’ve tried. Ch’al Andar himself led them behind your back.
“Basically, Chancellor, you’ve abused every right you ever had. You abused your people! I don’t know what’s worse. The fact you do it, or the fact you got away with it for so long.”
“Must you give me a speech? Thanagar was nothing without me. Let’s just say I’m lucky enough to not be a pathetic little spoiled prince, raised on that pre-historic ‘Eurth’ of yours.” The High-Chancellor laughed, mockingly.
“Funny, Chancy. You’re also not the combination of ancient magic and the Reach’s one good scarab. You’re not the son of the greatest ruler of Throneland. You’re going done. Hey, Spaceman, what’s the Reach?” The Arachnid quizzed after making his bragging threat.
“How should I know?” Starman answered, looking briefly at the Arachnid. “I’m in the middle of something here.”
“Let’s get this over and done with. Wingmen…Attack!” The High-Chancellor screamed.
The Wingmen sprung forth, easily attacking the Rebels behind Starman and the Arachnid. The lobby filled with people soaring around, the room became darker as it filled with more fighting.
Red flashes moved across the room coming from Rebel and Wingmen alike. In the midst of all this, Starman just stood. He waited for the Chancellor to think of something almost creative to beat him.
The wait caused the Arachnid to start freaking out, the ray blasts just barely missing him. The bug-themed hero didn’t want to join the over crowded fight. He mainly wanted revenge on the High Chancellor for framing him and having him shot.
“Shoot him already, Spaceman.” The Arachnid ordered. The stand off getting to him.
A yellow blast escaped the Cosmic Rod hitting the High Chancellor in the chest.
In retaliation, a large green mace slammed down towards Starman. He managed to dodge amazingly. Even pushing the Arachnid out of the way, Starman stood proudly, having avoided the High Chancellor’s attack.
“You dare insolent brat! You dare?” The High Chancellor screeched. He aimed another three blasts at Starman, only to find them dissolving before hitting him.
“My will is stronger than yours!” The High Chancellor muttered, creating a heroic looking version of himself, clad in the same Green Lantern robed costume, except this one wearing Wingmen wings.
“No, it ain’t.” Starman laughed. His hands glowed orange as he threw blasts at the High Chancellor again. He couldn’t believe it when the Chancellor blocked them, and sent the ideal version of himself to fight the Arachnid.
The Green Construct exploded as it approached the Arachnid. Fearing him, and what he was. Part of the scarab as impossible as it seemed. The Arachnid’s mind warned him of the ring. It was suddenly his enemy.
“Arachnid, you okay?” Starman asked, not paying attention to the High Chancellor.
“Just fine and dandy.” The Arachnid squeaked.
Starman didn’t notice the High Chancellor fire a blast at him. The blast connected, and knocked Starman to his knees.
“Ouch.” Starman muttered as he picked himself up.
“I’ve had enough of you.” The successor to the legacy said, menacingly. “You’ve picked the wrong royalty to mess with, buddy.”
“Shut up! I’m done with you and all you rebels! I’m sick of trying to kill you. I’m sick of you two constantly showing up at all!” The High Chancellor screamed.
“I’ve ruled a perfect Thanagar before you morons kept getting in my way. It had to start with that idealist, Andar. That moron kept trying to make things better. Then he started the Young Wingmen Corps, a training place for those who wished to join the Wingmen one day.
“I’m sick of you all stepping on perfection. I made Thanagar what it is. I made a perfect planet. I made two. Rann and Thanagar. I perfected them. Me. Don’t you understand? Without me what would this planet be?”
“Free.” Starman answered. “This planet would be free to do things as they want. Your laws no longer matter.”
“I won’t fail. I’m the architect of the future. I made it all perfect. I brought back religion. I managed to appease the Man-Hawks. I am Thanagar.”
“You’re a looney.” Starman said, shaking his head. “And, in this battle, you really need to notice your surroundings. Your Wingmen are already beaten. And I’m through with games. Ring to me.”
The ring slipped off of the High Chancellor’s finger. His robes returned to normal, and his ring slipped on Starman’s finger. He concentrated, and two Hawkmen appeared. The two Hawkmen grabbed the High Chancellor and hit him with their maces.
“Someone lock him up somewhere.” Starman muttered. “Thank god he was a pushover. Too eager to promote himself than actually try and kill me. No wonder he needed that Supernova guy around.” Starman laughed.
“Spaceman? Can we get outta here and go to your dad’s planet. I’ve had enough of space.” The Arachnid coughed.
“Yeah. We just need to beam back to Rann.” Starman said, picking up the Arachnid, and helping him walk out the door. A smile brandishing his face as the people of Thanagar cheered him on.
They had all surrounded the building, and with the High Chancellor in chains behind him, they saw their hero. Starman stood in awe, and found Aleea again. The two kissed, making a silent promise to visit the other sooner than later.
In the crowd, a young, red-headed girl found herself hoping to be one of them. She saw them as something similar to Strato-Hawk was. She recognized them as Earth heroes. Though she had no clue who they were.
Before she could push her way through the crowd to get a better look the two heroes were gone, the Rebels remained, taking the Dark Wingmen and the High Chancellor into custody.

Kranaltine, Hours Later…
Starman and the Arachnid had returned to the start of their journey. Starman was currently sitting down with his father, learning all he could about him.
The Arachnid was waiting near the Zeta Beam, hoping to get home soon. The bug-themed hero knew he was now more and more like the Scarab than ever. It had upgraded him, his eyes now saw things that were cloaked from the normal naked eye. He could still fly. And his blasts could be massively projected. He was a little more durable too. Apparently the scarab inside him, a part of him now, wanted to survive.
The Arachnid’s train of thought, oddly enough in the scarab’s native tongue now, was lost as Starman finally came near him.
“C’mon bud. We’re going home.” Starman smiled, waving goodbye to his father. The Zeta Beam hummed to life and flashed, and the not so Dynamic Duo were Earthbound again.

The High Chancellor’s Cell, Thanagar…
The High Chancellor, or as he was now forced to call himself Trmbl Frth sat in his cell. He was once the most feared man on Thanagar. Now he was behind bars. He was once untouchable. Now he was no longer. He was the High Chancellor, now an embarrassed one time world conqueror. He was still feared though. The people feared he would escape and take over Thanagar again.
He knew who was now taking over as head of Thanagar, a council put together by Ch’al Andar, head of the council himself. The former Earth hero and villain, the Golden Eagle was now making Thanagar peaceful through listening to the populace and not enslaving them.
Trmbl Frth saw a strange golden ring float into his cell. A voice called out to him.
“Trmbl Frth of Sector 2682 You have been chosen to join the Sinestro Corps for your ability to create great fear in the hearts of the sentients in your sector. You will be transported to Qward for training.” The ring spoke as it landed on his finger. A flash of bright light suddenly seemed to destroy Trmbl Frth, but in reality transported him for his training. He had been selected to join the Sinestro Corps.
