Fausta’s Stronghold…
Dawnstar was the first to awaken. She started to get up, but realized she was strapped to a table and her wings were covered in some sort of energy bonds. She couldn’t feel her wings and wondered if there was some nerve damage caused by whoever did this to her.
“Ah, you must be hearty and strong!” came a female voice with a thick accent. Dawnstar had never heard the accent before as she cast her eyes towards the woman walking towards her. She was tall and blonde, her hair pulled back in a neat bun. She was wearing black from head to toe and her ample bosom looked like it was ready to spill out at any moment.
“You have the most interesting materials in this era. I simply thought how I wanted to look and this fabric shaped itself according to my wishes. Chronos told me I‘d be right at home. He didn‘t tell me I‘d have so much work to do though.”
Dawnstar noticed the woman was wearing an armband with a strange symbol. She recalled a history class at the Starhaven Colony and how a madman nearly destroyed an entire race of people. “A Nazi? Here? Now?” Dawnstar wondered to herself.
“Your wings….they fascinate me. Was this an experiment? I have seen men and women with artificial wings, but yours….they seem natural.” the blonde woman said looking down at Dawnstar.
Dawnstar didn’t reply, but glared at the woman.
“A quiet one? Well enough, save your voice my pretty bird. You’ll be screaming and crying later when I dissect you. It is for science and to further the Reich. I’m sure you understand,” Fausta grinned, wickedly. “My name is Fausta and now I must introduce myself to your friends.”
Dawnstar watched the woman walk down the corridor, her stiletto heels clicking all the way.
“Friends? Who else is here--Shady and Timber Wolf?” Dawnstar thought as she struggled with her bonds.
Shadow Lass tried to cover her face with her cloak, but even that didn’t offer much protection from the intense light beating down on her. She was trapped in a cube on her hands and knees. There wasn’t enough room to stand or to move, and she felt like a trapped animal. The cell was lined with intense bulbs that produced blinding light and unbearable heat.
“Hello, my blue girl. You don’t like my tropical setting? I thought everyone enjoyed the sun and its life-giving rays. Oh, could it be your blue skin? Have the races become so mixed that now there are blue people? Chronos assured me there would be racial purity and perfection here. My, my. My work is cut out for me. What‘s next? “ Little green men?”
Fausta said frowning.
“Lady, I don’t know who you are, but I know what that armband means. People like you are an afterthought in ancient history. Your kind died out years ago.” Shadow Lass hissed.
“Well, my little blueberry, I’ll have to change that won’t I? I am sure there are some who don’t appreciate common garbage like you taking over the earth. Surely there is a place for the pure, the ones who deserve to live.” Fausta replied turning up the dial that controlled the bulbs. “There are bound to be others like me, still committed to the Reich.”
Shadow Lass narrowed her eyes at her captor.
“Keep warm, I have to visit the one in your trio that truly interests me.” Fausta mused.
Timber Wolf was chained in a room near Dawnstar. His arms were above his head and his feet were shackled to the floor. He noticed his shirt had been ripped off and he was bound so tightly he couldn’t move a muscle.
“Finally, you are awake!” Fausta said as she picked up a whip and walked towards Timber Wolf.
“I’d pinch myself to see if this a nightmare, but I can’t seem to move my hands just now.” he muttered.
“Oh my, aren’t we a spunky one. You fascinate me.” she said running her hands across his hairy chest.
“Really? Most of the other Legionnaires think I’m a dunce.” he replied.
“I am not typically attracted to one such as you. You are colored like one of them….the ones that ruined Germany. Your skin, your eyes….but your body is like one Hitler himself would approve of. Tell me, what conditioning exercises you do?” Fausta said, pressing her body against his.
“I don’t have to work out. I’m naturally athletic.” he said trying to turn his head. Fausta kissed his neck.
“Usually I wouldn’t sully myself with one such as you….but I can’t help myself….something about you….it’s like an animal magnetism. Tell me, if we were to breed, do you think it would help the Reich return? Would we produce soldiers?” she said running her nails across his abs.
“Blondie, if you were the last woman in the galaxy, the human race would die out. I know what that little band on your arm stood for--you disgusting pig. I don’t know anyone sick enough to wear that symbol. When I get loose--”
“When you get loose? HA! And I thought we would have some fun. I was going to spare you. I see your spirit needs to be broken. You see this whip? This flogger? Some would say it’s a relic in your era of science fiction, but I assure you, you’ll scream for mercy when I’m done with you.”
“Sounds like this is your standard routine, cupcake. Are you one of the girls from one of those party asteroids--did you work at one of those underground bondage bars?” Timber Wolf laughed.
“Laugh now, wolfen. Laugh.” Fausta said as she cracked the whip across Timber Wolf’s chest.
CRACK!!! CRACK!! CRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both Dawnstar and Shadow Lass shuddered as they heard their teammate cry out.

Miles away the Invisible Jet streaked across the sky. Hawman soared along beside.
“So, you’re Diana’s boy? The strong deep voice of Aquaman said.
“I am sir.” Wonder Man said. “ I know this must be odd for you, Aquaman.
“Stranger things have happened.” the sea king said. “You know, I really had thought about staying in Atlantis more since Mera and I have a son now.”
“A son?” Jemstone replied.
“Yes, Arthur jr.” Being from the future I thought you might have known that.” the sea king said.
“A child is a joy forever.” Jemstone said thinking about the fate that awaited Aquaman’s son.
Dream Girl took Aquaman’s hand. “So, I have seen you in the old holovids, but they don’t do you justice. You’re so muscular and strong--and handsome.”
Aquaman and Dream Girl were chatting and laughing. Jemstone leaned over to Wonder Man and said, “This is awful. I know what happened to his son. Do you think we should--”
“NO. We can’t tell him anything. The time stream is already compromised as it is. I know it sucks, but we have to keep what we know to ourselves.” Wonder Man replied, knowing full well he wanted to ask Dream Girl what was in the cards for himself and Jemstone.
“I usually share the invisible jet with Wonder Woman and here I am in the 30th century with her son. I guess some things never change.” Aquaman joked to Dream Girl.
“Oh, don’t sell yourself short! I know all about your adventures with the Justice League and look at you now! You’re going to help save the day. My visions are always right and they told me that Fausta has my teammates in an underwater detention complex. It was abandoned years ago by the United Planets when the interrogation laws changed.” the platinum blonde said. “My visions tell me my friends are alive, but we must hurry.”
Wonder Man couldn’t help but hang on her every word. Her voice was like Marilyn Monroe’s and her body was the most perfect he had ever seen. He was a bit overwhelmed as well. Being in the company of his mother’s friend and his grandmother’s teammate was making his confidence wane.
“Here’s where I get off. “ Aquaman said as he jumped from the jet into the ocean.
The jet landed on a beach a few minutes later.
“Not much different from our time. The air seems….so clean.” Jemstone said.
“True. This used to be a resort, but it was destroyed in the Earth War. No one ever rebuilt here and I kind of like it….natural and untouched--although I could use a nail salon--I‘ve chipped a nail!“ Dream Girl said, looking down at her fingers.
Hawkman had been quiet so far. Traveling to the future made him uncomfortable and he wondered if he was reincarnated somewhere in this era.
Jemstone walked over to the tall hero. ‘So, did you get your chest waxed and get a new helmet?”
“What?” he said. Despite not being agitated, his voice boomed.
“Jem, why don’t you and I go for a walk.” Wonder Man said, taking his girlfriend by the arm.
“What did she mean by that? Hawkman asked Dream Girl.
“Oh, nothing. I am sure she’s just disoriented due to the time travel.”
Hawkman cleared his throat and said, “ When Aquaman arrives at the complex, do you think he can raise it to the surface and we can rescue your friends?”
“I’m sure of it. And to think he believes he’s useless, why one day he’ll……whoops. I’d better be quiet.” Dream Girl said looking out over the ocean.
A few feet away Wonder Man and Jemstone were talking. “Jerrica, you have got to be careful what you say.” Wonder Man said shaking his head. “That Hawkman is our Hawkman, just reincarnated. If we slip up and give them any clues to the future, we might inadvertently change the path of time.”
“Why are you so grumpy! I saw you eyeing little miss crystal ball over there. I’m surprised you haven’t dumped me already and made plans to stay here! AGH!! The way she flips her hair and makes such a big deal about a chipped nail!” Jemstone snapped.
“What!? Why would you say that!?”
“The way you look at her and say stuff like ‘Oh Dream Girl, what a great idea, oh Dream Girl, you’re so right.” It makes me want to puke!
“I didn’t know I was making you feel that way. I’m sorry. I guess I’m on edge because this Hawkman knew my grandmother. I have so many questions for him….and Aquaman….the time he was taken from is when he and my mother were very close friends. Some even speculated they were more than friends. Look, I’m sorry I snapped at you. I guess being here in the future with the Legion of Super Heroes with all of their fancy stuff, being a guy with a lasso and jet makes me feel a little dumb.”
“Oh Scott. You’re silly.” Jemstone said, kissing him on the cheek.
Deep in the ocean, Aquaman hurtled through the water. He was amazed at the sealife. Several creatures he recognized and some were unknown to him. He was pleased to learn his powers of suggestion worked on the strange animals and a school of colorful fish led him to the underground complex. Finding an entry portal, Aquaman entered cautiously.
“Dream Girl says to find a control panel and to enter this code she had me memorize and the chamber will surface. Hope I can hold off this Fausta person until the others make it inside.”
Aquaman crept around and passed a door where he heard someone moaning. “That’s one of Dream Girl’s friends!” he thought as he made his way to the cube that held Shadow Lass. “Hold on! I’ll have you out in a jiffy.” he said smashing his fists into the cube and successfully disabling the lights.
Shadow Lass stumbled out and was having trouble seeing as well as standing straight. “Thank you, whoever you are….I can’t see…”she said as she rubbed her eyes.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure it’s temporary. My name’s Aquaman and I’m here to help.”
“AQUAMAN!?” the sapphire colored heroine gasped.
“I know. Long story, but I’m here with your friend Dream Girl.”
The duo made their way to a massive control room. Aquaman proceeded to find the screen and entered the code.
In another part of the complex, Timber Wolf was on the verge of passing out. His sweat covered back and chest were wracked with pain and whelps crisscrossed his torso.
“You are a tough one, my friend. I haven’t even drawn blood yet! How much more can you take? Perhaps I should start removing fingers and toes…maybe even an entire foot?”
Timber Wolf spit at his captor.
“Swine! You dare spit at Fausta! I will teach you a lesson you’ll never forget!” She screeched, taking a scalpel from her uniform and holding it to Timber Wolf’s forehead.
Just then, Fausta and Timber Wolf both felt the complex begin to shake and sway. Fausta fell to the floor as the complex rapidly took off towards the surface.
“What is the meaning of this!!” she glared. “One of your dirty friends must be loose! They will suffer--”
“Oh save it.” came the voice of Aquaman. Shadow Lass was right behind him, although her vision was still blurred.
“A blonde blue eyed specimen? You do not want to fight me, my friend. Not when there is so much pleasure we could experience together.” Fausta said, unzipping her uniform.
Aquaman didn’t say a word. He lept at the Nazi and pummeled her with his fists.
On the shore, the assembled heroes were relieved to see the complex surface.
“He did it! Aquaman got in!” Jemstone shouted, clapping her hands.
“I could have told you that!” Dream Girl said primping her hair.
Just then Aquaman came flying out of the top of the complex and splashed into the ocean.
“I’d say he met up with Fausta.” Wonder Man said flying into the structure.
“She’ll be sorry she tried to come to this era.” Hawkman said as his wings lifted him and he drew his mace.
Wonder Man and Hawkman were the first to confront Fausta.
“It gets better! The bastard prince of Paradise Island and the winged ally of Hippolyta!” Fausta said, blood on her fists.
“Wonder Man, do not hold back. She is evil personified and won’t stop until we all are dead!” Hawkman shouted.
“I am more than acquainted with this low life! Let’s go!” Wonder Man said as he drew his lasso.
Jemstone and Dream Girl made their way into the comples and found Dawnstar and released her.
‘Dreamy! Thank the stars!” the winged beauty replied as she hugged her friend.
“No problem, Dawny! I brought friends too!” Dream Girl said as Dawnstar gazed at Jemstone. “Yes, they are from the past.”
Fausta had caught Wonder Man’s lasso and used it to send him flying through a control console.
Hawkman flew at her. “I would hope this utopia would not know people such as you Fausta.”
“Oh shut up! You don’t have the almighty Justice Society of America to help you here.” she said, grasping his harness.
“I don’t need them for the likes of you!” he said as sent his mace slamming into Fausta’s skull.
Dawnstar had now joined the fight. “Allow me to help you, friend.” she said as she lifted the dazed Fausta into the air and dropped her.
Wonder Man was back on his feet and flew full force into Fausta.
“This cannot be! There are too many of them!” she hissed.
“Do you want to give up?” the super model hero asked with a grin.
“I’ll sooner rip that smirk off your face before surrender, American!”
“Half American and half Greek, get it right!” he said crossing his gauntlets to deflect a punch from the crazed woman.
Just then the entire group was stunned to see what appeared to be a troop of international soldiers and the World War II Wonder Woman come out of nowhere.
Hawkman looked on silent and Wonder Man uttered, “Grandmother?”
Dream Girl had released Timber Wolf and he was about to join the fight. “Is Jeckie here?” the young man asked.
Dream Girl said, “Not quite but close.”
Jemstone had temporarily confused Fausta with a massive hologram of her most hated enemies.
“The allies--and Hippolyta! What trickery is this!?” Fausta said, her eyes darting. “You! The pink haired warbler!”
“That sounds more like an extinct bird.” Shadow Lass said as she covered the room in darkness.
When the darkness cleared, Fausta was surrounded by all the heroes, including Aquaman who had re-entered the Legion’s former prison. Fausta was disoriented by the hologram and then the sudden darkness.
Hawkman reared back his fist, muscles rippling.
“Hawkman, wait! I owe her” Timber Wolf said as his eyes glowed red. Before Fausta could say a word, he punched her in the face, knocking her out.
“We have to get her back to our time, before she wakes up.” Wonder Man urged.
“Right. I know she was on Paradise Island when Chronos found her.” Dream Girl said.
“Jemstone and I will take her back and rejoin you guys.” the olive skinned prince replied, smiling at his girlfriend.
Hawkman quickly said, “It is an honor to fight with you. I am sorry you had to meet this monstress.”
“Do not worry, friend. We have our share of monsters in our modern times as well.” Dawnstar said as she shook the winged man’s hand.
Dream Girl had explained how the invisible jet could break the time barrier as Wonder Man and Jemstone departed. When they arrived on Paradise Island, they were greeted by a panicked Bonda.
“Prince Scott! Fausta…she’s escaped! She’s loose on the island.” she shouted. “I only turned my back on her for a second and she was gone!”
“Not to worry, Bonda. I have her.” Wonder Man replied as he carried the unconscious Nazi to her cell.
‘I do not understand, my prince…?”
“It’s a long story. She shouldn’t bother you anymore. Not today at least.” The son of Wonder Woman smiled as he and Jemstone boarded the invisible jet and headed back to the era of Dream Girl and the Legion of Super Heroes.
“That was pretty ingenious…..creating the hologram of the allied soldiers and my grandmother.” Wonder Man said taking Jemstone’s hand.
“Really? Even better than Dream Girl and her visions? I know about your fascination with girls that predict things.” Jemstone said, teasing her boyfriend about his friendship with Lilith.
“Ha, but neither Lilith or Dream Girl have anything on you, you pink haired warbler.” Scott Trevor said laughing.
Jemstone rolled her eyes as the duo returned to the 30th century to rejoin their allies.

“A blonde blue eyed specimen? You do not want to fight me, my friend. Not when there is so much pleasure we could experience together.” Fausta said, unzipping her uniform.
