Titans of Justice Unlimited Chapter 19 – “Terror From The Multiverse Part 3”

Earth-2 Gotham City…
Punch after punch was thrown, by both hero and villain. The very idea of Gotham City losing itself to the likes of which it was when the Batman first came along was a horrible thought.
If history taught anyone anything it was that the slightest sign of success in Gotham these days meant it would be sucked into an abyss of crime and corruption. Right now the people of Gotham saw something they never expected. A new Starman was battling another who seemed to be his opposite. A man calling himself Green Lantern fought a similarly powered man. Two Hawkgirls battled on. The people crowded around to watch, staying cautiously back as the super-beings warred.
“Who are they?” one wide-eyed spectator managed to say.

New Earth, The Flash Museum…
Wally West powered up the Cosmic Treadmill having found his daughter’s teammates seeking it in order to go to another world. The results of the journey could not be calculated so Wally thought ahead. The Treadmill and all those out of sync with the Earth they visited would return to the Museum after thirty minutes. After all, there was far too much exploring to be done.
“Where are Flash and Velocity anyway?” Power Storm managed to ask his second-cousin, the leader of the Titans, Power Guy.
“On separate missions. Flash is with Huntress and some of the Super Friends investigating claims of the return of Keena Ro. Velocity’s hunting down the return escapee from the Super-Max, the Royal Flush Gang. He’s meant to have Black Adam and Isis helping him.” Power Guy smiled. “They’re both out of contact.”
“Hey, there’s an Elongated Man room!” A call came, Power Guy peered to see it came from a happy Ice Warrior. Despite popular claims, under his ego-maniacal exterior, Guy and Tora had raised their son to respect the people they worked with above all those who died like Ralph and Sue Dibny.
“Of course there is.” Wally West smiled, “Ralph Dibny was not only one of my uncle’s closest and dearest friends, he was a true champion of all things right with the world. A detective who could give Batman a run for his money, a man who looked to the bright side of life. And Ralph was never picky. He loved hanging out with Barry, Hal and Ray, but was just as close to Booster, Ted and everyone else he had the pleasure of working with. He was my fun Uncle Ralph when I was a kid.”
“So, it runs deep then? The Flash Family is big on everyone who’s ever worked with them?” Ice Warrior smugly smiled.
“Your father always was a jerk. I never did see why Hal always treated him as an equal. But you know what, if you’re any indication on how good a man he was, then maybe he wasn’t half bad. He was still a jerk though.” Wally smirked.
“The Treadmill’s set. You should be able to jump to some random world. You’ll remain out of sync with it, allowing a return in thirty minutes. You will vibrate out of the world after thirty minutes. Touching anyone during this will cause them to return here.” Wally explained to the collective group. “For safety reasons, only five of you are going Flame Fury, Rocket Red and Ice Warrior from the Guardians, and Power Guy and Power Storm from the Titans of Justice.”
“Any reason they get to go?” The Arachnid complained.
“Yeah, I picked them too.” Wally West said. “Get on the Treadmill folks, you’re about to experience the worst ride of your life.”
The five heroes climbed onto the Treadmill, and found themselves vibrating through the Multiverse in a matter of seconds. To Wally West, it was considerably longer. He had to vibrate through a barrier of pure unadulterated energy to pave the path to another world, without slipping over himself. He thought it best to retire from the race, so the legacy could continue.
The Multiverse took the Treadmill and Wally stopped in his tracks, hoping those kids managed to save their friends before things got out of control.

Earth-2, Gotham City…
For the Titans of Justice, this wasn’t what they needed. Having only just imprisoned the latest Shaggy Man, Wonder Warrior alone knew he couldn’t keep fighting. His doppelganger had him on the ropes. The Amazonian warrior found himself falling to the pavement below. His ribs hurt, he could taste his own blood, and he was pretty sure that he had perfect sight just a moment before.
Coughing up a bit more blood, Wonder Warrior rose to his feet, shakily. His ‘little sister’ fell next to him. He managed to pick her up, and see his friends fighting their doppelgangers. He and Green Lantern caught each others glance.
“Titans, switch opponents!” The two leaders shouted in unison.
Starman dived into Raptor, taking her away from Hawkgirl, and managing to hold off the Thanagarian with ease. Starman outmatched her with his powers and cosmic rod, so he found himself easily holding her off.
Hawkgirl switched to Miniscule, who had brought himself back up to 6 inches along with Nucleus. Hawkgirl’s mace swung down on top of him, and suddenly, the tiny terror was down for the count.
Wonder Warrior found Power Ring to be slow-witted but quite chaotic, the opposite of Green Lantern in every way. The Amazonian Prince managed to grin as he swung his sword out and sliced off strands of Power Ring’s long hair.
The two men found themselves using constructs to battle. Wonder Warrior’s invisible constructs made way for more than just the sparkling green energy. Plus, the way this Power Ring’s mind worked, he believed that it wouldn’t take long to beat him.
Green Lantern found his way to Avatar, and hit him with beam after beam of light. It spiraled from his ring-finger, disorientating the cruel master of Earth-3.
Nucleus had taken to messing with Ultra Girl, and had managed to mess with her by attacking her super-sensitive eardrum. Ultra Girl couldn’t control herself as she slammed into buildings all over.
Then there was Wonder Girl’s battle. She had taken to fighting Cosmos, having disarmed him and having broken his arm already, Wonder Girl proved why her universe was called the universe of evil. With a dark grin on her face, she used every fighting skill she knew to fight on against the menacing mess that looked like Starman.
Hawkgirl tried to force her way into the fights, but found herself unable to enter any of them. Instead, she saw a bright shining light in the distance, it blinded her. Batarangs went flying in her direction, piercing her wings, and forcing her to the ground. The fight was joined by Daysight.

Earth-2, Crime Alley…
Nightvision grunted as he walked down Crime Alley, his ribs were injured and he had a slight limp. His little tussle with the blinding man had left him worse for wear. The fall had hurt him the most. The acrobatic son of the first Robin could only grunt as he forced himself to sit in the alley until the pain subsided.
Then a bright light appeared. A treadmill forced its way into the Alley, and out of it emerged Power Guy and Power Storm, and three others Nightvision didn’t recognize. Ice-Warrior, Flame Fury and Rocket Red #9 stood before him.
“Nightvision! You’re here!” Power Guy exclaimed with a warm smile. “Thank god, we were really worried about you. Where are the others?”
“Don’t know.” Nightvision grunted. “Use your vision powers. You should find them easily that way.” He managed to grunt again.
“I guess you’re not in the best of moods then.” Power Storm said, laughing a little until he caught Nightvision’s grim stare.
“Did I give it away.” Nightvision growled. His rips ached as he stood. “What do you see Power Guy?”
“I found them! They’re fighting…I’m not even sure who they’re fighting. But they look like themselves.”
“The Syndicate of Terror’s back then. We should stop them now!” Nightvision growled, not admitting he was in too much pain to fight.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Power Guy said, putting on his most commanding tone. “You’re staying here, Power Storm, myself and Rocket Red will be going after these doppelgangers. Ice-Warrior, Flame Fury, you look after him.”
“WHAT?” Ice-Warrior yelled furiously, but the make-shift team was already on its way. Ice-Warrior turned to Flame Fury, and looked as she knelt to find out about Nightvision’s injuries. “Jeez, I’m glad I don’t have to report to that loser. Leaving the one an’ only Ice-Warrior off of his team.”
“Shut up Joey, don’t you see this guy’s in pain?” Flame Fury responded, the two bickered back and forth as the others had long taken off.

Still Gotham City, Earth 2, except a couple of blocks down…
The Syndicate and Titans were in all out war. They fought and continued on, back and forth punches flew. The day had been spent in an evenly matched round-up of heroes and villains.
Then a laser sounded as three flying men approached. Rocket Red #9 charging in front, his wrist mounted lasers firing wildly. Behind him was Power Storm, who seemed too unsure of what to do next, and following both of them was a seemingly docile Power Guy.
“Please to be giving up, Comrades.” Rocket Red#9 announced to the Syndicate. “We have you outnumbered, and we have reinforcements waiting.”
“Why should we listen to you?” Came a gruff call from the brightly colored Daysight. He shining costume attempted to blind Rocket Red, who let out a chuckle.
“It is being too bad that my lens is protected from such lights, comrade. I did try to do this the easy way.” Rocket Red clarified as he shot downwards, forcing Daysight to the ground as he was hit.
“Good job, Red!” Power Guy laughed. He found himself being attacked by a shadow. The fact he saw a face in it creeped him out beyond belief. His strength ebbed away as a mighty kick hit him. It was Avatar, the dominant male of the Syndicate fighting for his victory. His proud body language made a silent utterance of hate, and that was all Power Guy needed.
The two Herculean men threw a joint punch, their fist slammed together, and their ears burst in an instant as a sonic boom came from their attack. They both threw another, getting the same results, the ground crumbled beneath them, giving way. They threw another. Then another. Then another, until they fell into the sewers.
It slowed neither of them down, as Avatar grabbed onto Power Guy, and slammed him into the nearest wall, toppling it in an instant. Avatar stood triumphant until his legs were pulled by Power Guy, with a splash, he landed in the sewage they found themselves in.
“And to think, I wear white.” Power Guy grinned, his leg slammed into Avatar and knocked him through three concrete walls before he stopped at the fourth. “Alright pal, I think you have some explaining to do.”
“I don’t think so you moronic buffoon!” Avatar yelled.
“Didn’t that make you say the same thing twice?” Power Guy asked, grinning like the Cheshire Cat. The Metropolitan Marvel flew up, covered in sludge. Power Guy thought it best to just not mention it when finding his teammates,. He found it easier to accept that way, despite how disgusting it was. The Titans’ leader and powerhouse stopped to see the carnage going on, and found his teammates falling before their dark doppelgangers. Until it was just Rocket Red and Power Storm left.
“Oh d**n.” Power Guy said, looking at this scene. Most of the Syndicate was still up and running, except for Miniscule, Avatar and Daysight.
The villains smirked as Power Ring fired a blast of unadulterated energy that took the form of his dark master. “Volthoom!” Came the cry of Power Ring, as his ring energy exploded into a force so great, that even Power Guy could not withstand it.
