Titans of Justice Unlimited Chapter 36 – “Bite The Bullet Part 3 “
Written & edited by: Power Guy
Fawcett City…
The immense fifty feet tall Mr. Atom marched through the city, leaving a trail of destruction behind him.
Stellar flew up to Mr. Atom in a fury, blasting him with a powerful bolt of energy, “You dare attack MY city?” he screamed, his mind clouded with anger.
Mr. Atom was silent as he usually was. Stellar’s blast did nothing but irritate him. He raised his right arm in annoyance, ready to bat Stellar into the next county.
“That kid isn’t thinking clearly,” worried Wonder Man as his Invisible Jet streaked through the sky. Climbing on to the wing, he threw his magic-lasso around the robotic villain’s arm. Giving his rope a firm tug, he stopped the villain’s arm in mid-motion.
Mr. Atom turned to see who his latest attacker was. He promptly released a blast of his black radiation at the Themyscirian prince, knocking him off of his jet and sending him crashing into the ground below.
“Wonder Man!” shouted Whirlpool as the Invisible Jet’s auto-pilot kicked in and landed the transparent plane. He rushed out of the jet and made his way over to Wonder Man who was laying still. “Scott? Scott! Say something!”
“Whole body feels like…it’s on fire,” mumbled the male Amazon who was barely able to keep his eyes open.
Whirlpool’s attention was then diverted back to Stellar who had part of a building fall on top of him thanks to Mr. Atom.
The star-powered hero plummeted to the ground as chunks of the building’s roof covered him.
“This is going all wrong,” observed Whirlpool. “I think the Silencer underestimated Mr. Atom when he only sent the three of us. We could sure use some help here.”
“And you shall have it,” came a voice from behind.
Whirlpool turned to see Ibis The Invincible, Sherry The Girl of 2000 Gimmicks, and Kid Marvel. From up above, came a strange sound, almost like that of Wonder Man’s Invisible Jet which was parked behind him. He looked skyward to see a unique boomerang shaped plane with a man dressed similar to the original Spy Smasher climbing down a ladder.
“Fawcett City’s protectors are here to defend their city,” announced Ibis. “We are the Squadron of Justice.”
“But I thought that you called Egypt your home?” asked Whirlpool.
“That I do,” confirmed Ibis, “But Black Adam and Isis have promised to watch over my country while I tend to the crisis in my favorite vacation spot.”
While Kid Marvel and Sherry rushed over to attend to Stellar, Whirlpool, Wonder Man, Ibis, and the new Spy Smasher tried to formulate a plan to deal with Mr. Atom.
“I’m not sure what that guy’s running on but his radiation was powerful enough to put me through the wringer,” advised Wonder Man, whose body still ached.
“I’ve got an idea how to stop him if you guys can lead him towards the river,” suggested Whirlpool.
“Consider it done,” Spy Smasher said, nodding his head a single time.
A few blocks away, Kid Marvel had finished unburying Stellar from the debris that covered him
“Stellar! Wake up!!” Sherry yelled in a panic, shaking her crush softly.
“Ugh….what happened,” asked the wielder of the Cosmic Converter Belt.
“Well from what Ibis told us, you got your butt whipped by Mr. Atom,” smirked Kid Marvel.
“Nice to see you too cuz,” huffed Stellar. “What’s with the new costume?”
“Well, I’m no longer Kid Marvel. I’m going by Teen Marvel now so I thought a new set of duds was in order.”
As Mr. Atom continued to ransack the city, Ibis appeared before him in the sky. “Your rampage stops here, villain. I trust you remember our previous encounter?”
“The turbaned one,” Mr. Atom said, finally speaking. “Your Ibis-stick sent me to a distant star many years ago. This will not be a repeat performance. I have been rebuilt many times since then and this time, I am more powerful than EVER” he said raising his hand.
“Ibis-stick – send this metallic menagerie toward the Fawcett River!” commanded Ibis.
Suddenly, Mr. Atom found himself flying towards the bed of water a few miles away. As he continued to fly through the air, the Invisible Jet and the Spy Smasher’s Gyrosub raced towards him. Wonder Man fired his magic-lasso rockets at the Gyrosub and they latched on tightly to it’s right wing. As the two planes raced forward, the rope they were connected to, cupped Mr. Atom under his arms. The two aircrafts pressed on at full power, pulling Mr. Atom faster through the sky until they slowed down abruptly, causing Mr. Atom to drop to the ground in front of the river.
Mr. Atom picked himself up, his hands spurting radiation, ready to destroy his attackers. “You all face immediate termination!” he vowed.
“Not yet, rust-bucket!” came the voice of Whirlpool from left side of Mr. Atom.
The gigantic villain turned to see the Prince of Atlantis, standing on top of the water. He almost did not believe his eyes as the water was pulled from the river and started to take the shape of Whirlpool’s body, causing the young hero to match Mr. Atom in size.
“Think you’re tough? Let’s see how you match up to my water armor!” Whirlpool shouted, punching Mr. Atom in the face with his enlarged fist. The weight of the water knocked Mr. Atom off of his feet. Whirlpool didn’t hesitate for a moment and kept punching Mr. Atom left and right. After several punches, he cracked Mr. Atom armor along his left shoulder. “Looks like you’re not so tough after all!”
But before Whirlpool could finish off Mr. Atom, the villain counter-attacked with a huge burst of searing radiation. “Your upgrade has been accounted for!”
Whirlpool screamed in agony as his water-armor was reduced to steam, cooking him alive. He dropped into the water like a wet dishrag in need of it’s cooling properties.
“Oh no! Whirlpool’s hurt badly!” noticed Stellar as he and Teen Marvel flew towards the walking reactor.
“That’s because the only thing that can stop Mr. Atom is a Shazam-powered @$$-whooping!” Teen Marvel shouted as he flew into Mr. Atom with the force of a small freight train.
The villain was knocked backward by the brute impact.
Teen Marvel then flew underneath Mr. Atom and picked him up by where his butt would be if he had one, and body-slammed him into the ground.
Angered by the latest attack on him, Mr. Atom fired another blast of radiation. The blast struck both Teen Marvel and Stellar, causing them to fall of out of the sky.

Back at the Hall of Justice…
Bulletboy was still lying in bed. The process of Shrapnel’s metal grafting to his body was seemingly over. His skin was now completely covered with the strange substance yet he was feeling no ill affects. As he marveled at his condition, he could hear Nucleus, Dr. Mid-nite and the Silencer talking in the next room.
“Things aren’t going well for Stellar and the others in Fawcett City,” reported the Silencer. “Even with the assistance of Ibis and Co., Mr. Atom still has the upper-hand. If they don’t get some help soon, I think we may lose a couple of them.”
Bulletboy freaked out and jumped out of bed. He rushed out the door past the conversing heroes.
“Bulletboy! Where are you going!” asked a concerned Nucleus.
“I’ve got to go help Stellar before he gets killed!” answered the panicked teen.
“But we haven’t finished our tests on you! We don’t know how that strange metal has affected your body!” pointed out Nucleus but there was no stopping the young man.
Bulletboy was already out of the sky-light, racing skyward with a speed that even surprised him. “Did I just hear what sounded like a gun-shot when I took off?” he thought to himself, “Ah well, can’t worry about that now. I’ve got to try and save Stellar and the others!”

Back in Fawcett City….
Mr. Atom continued his advance through the home of the Marvel Family. The assembled heroes were growing weary and worried that nothing could stop the automation’s progress.
Ibis once again called upon his enchanted scepter, “Ibis-stick – propel all manner of debris at this fiend!” Suddenly, much of the damaged homes, cars, and other various items that Mr. Atom had destroyed rose forth and barraged him like a swarm of mosquitoes, battering him from all directions.
While the debris did little damage to the rampaging robot, it did confuse and disorient him. Sherry, Girl of 2000 Gimmicks took this as her chance to “prove” her effectiveness. Pulling a strange looking gun from her bag of tricks, she announced, “My banana-peel dealer will trip him up!” She fired the gun without hesitation and almost a dozen banana-peels lined the ground in front of Mr. Atom. The android soon found himself slipping and falling forward but unfortunately for Sherry, she forgot to get out of his way. “Oh golly! I’m a goner!” As Sherry closed her eyes and began to make peach with God, she felt someone pick her up and pull her out of the way. She promptly opened her eyes and found herself in Wonder Man’s arms.
“Hi there!” he grinned, “While we appreciate the help, I think you should leave this guy to the professionals.” he said as he flew her over by Stellar who was regaining consciousness. “Here, take care of Stellar while go a few more rounds with Mr. Atom” he said as he set Sherry down.
As Wonder Man flew back towards Mr. Atom, he prayed, “Lord Hermes – grant me your speed!” Soon the man also known as Scott Trevor found himself flying through the air faster than a rocket until he ultimately slammed into Mr. Atom with the force of a small missile, cracking open his chest-plate. Flying up towards the robot’s head, he punched him in the face several times, further damaging his metal shell. “Your spring has just run out and I’m putting you down for the count!” declared the Themyscirian prince.
While Mr. Atom was significantly damaged, he was not helpless. He again released a deadly blast at Wonder Man, roasting his Olympian-powered body, forcing him to crash into the ground below.
“Darn it! Wonder Man almost had him!” grumbled Stellar who was rubbing his aching head as Sherry rubbed his back. “Wait! His power-core is exposed now. If I can destroy it with my Cosmic Converter Belt, Mr. Atom will be out of commission. He rose to his feet ready to fly off when Sherry tugged on his cape.
“Stellar no! You’re still injured!” shouted the gimmick-themed crusader.
“But everyone else who could pull this off is out cold,” Stellar said, noticing that Mr. Atom had neutralized Ibis and most of the others. “I’m our last hope,” he presumed as he hugged Sherry in case this was good-bye. “Take care of Fawcett City for me and if Rachel ever turns up, please tell her that I loved her with all of my heart. Be strong Sherry!”
Sherry began to cry as Stellar took off. She wrapped her arms around herself and softly whispered, “Goodbye Stellar……I’ll always love you.”
Stellar quickly flew in front of Mr. Atom ready to enact his plan. But before he could release his cosmic energies on the robot’s power-core, Mr. Atom knocked him out of the sky with his left fist.
“Fool! My superior hearing allowed me find out your plan as you announced it to your pretty young friend. Now your pitiful sacrifice will be in vein!” he said lifting up his right leg, ready to squash Stellar with his gigantic foot.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the voice of Bulletboy came, “Get the hell away from him!!!” the teenage legacy said as he flew into Mr. Atom, knocking him on his metallic derrière. He then yelled down to his close friend, “Stellar, you ok?”
“Don’t worry about me,” requested the star-spangled teen. “You’ve got to destroy that glowing thing in his chest. That’s his power-core!”
“I’m on it!” acknowledged Bulletboy as he flew towards Mr. Atom chest, ready to rip out his power-core.
“Foolish boy! I’m going to incinerate you!” threatened Mr. Atom holding his right hand in front of the red and silver garbed boy.
“NO!!!” shrieked a horrified Bulletboy holding out his hands in front of himself when suddenly a stream of metallic projectiles came shooting out from his finger-tips. Within seconds, what used to be Mr. Atom’s hand looked like a piece of Swiss cheese as it was filled with numerous holes. “What the heck???” Bulletboy asked himself as he looked down at his hands. “No time to think, I’ve got to shut him down!” he thought to himself as he flew in front of Mr. Atom’s power-core and ventilated it with the same projectiles he used to destroy the robot’s hand. Within seconds, Mr. Atom was powerless and deactivated….
As Bulletboy landed down beside his good friend Stellar, the wielder of the Cosmic Converter Belt asked, “Dude, what happened to you? Your skin looks like metal and it looked like you were shooting bullets out of your fingers.”
“I’m not sure,” replied the uncertain Bulletboy. “It must be due to that accident with Shrapnel.
“Dude! This is so cool,” advised Stellar. “Now you’ll be known as Bulletboy: The Human Machine-gun!”
“You think?” Bulletboy asked innocently.
“Yeah, I do,” answered Stellar. “Now let’s help get the others up and then we’ll need to help clean up the city.”

Metropolis University Hospital….
Lex Luthor lay comatose in his hospital bed for the last few days since his climatic battle with the seven original members of the Justice League. Doctors and nurses had done everything they could think of to revive him but they had made no progress.
A nurse came in to check his vitals. After a few minutes, she said to herself, “No change. What a shame since he can’t be locked away until he’s regained consciousness.”
“Watch your tongue woman!” chastised a male visitor.
The started nurse turned around and tried to change the subject, “I’m sorry sir but you’ll have to leave. Mr. Luthor isn’t allowed any visitors except family.”
The tall, red-headed man got in the nurse’s face and looked sternly at her, “I AM family. Lance Luthor’s the name. This man is my father.”
