Titans of Justice Unlimited Chapter 65 - “You Can Go Home Again Part 16”
Written & Edited By: Power Guy
The Florida panhandle, Earth 2.…
As the smoke and dust cleared, the assembled Titans of Justice looked around, wondering what had just happened. The Anti-Monitor was gone and Argos was laying on the ground in his humanoid form, his eyes were open and he was beginning to stir.
Moments later, the group was joined by their teammates who had been battling the Shadow Demons and keeping the general public safe.
“Nucleus, what did you do with the Cosmic Egg?” Green Lantern asked curiously.
“I set it re-write history so that the Anti-Monitor was never reborn,” answered the world’s smartest scientist.
“Leave it to Elongated Lad and Nucleus to save the day once again!” bragged Rick Dibny as he stretched his elongated arm around Nucleus’ shoulder.
“So everything is finally going to be ok?” Jemstone asked, hoping that she and Wonder Man could finally relax and get reacquainted.
“Not everything………” Green Lantern frowned looking down at Power Guy’s inert body.
“PeeGee!!!” screamed Super Lad as he finally noticed his mentor’s body laying a few yards away. “No! No! Nooo! NOOOO!!!!” he cried out, racing to his mentor’s side. Kneeling down, he started to nudge Power Guy’s body, thinking he could just wake him up. “Why isn’t he moving?!?!?!” demanded the cocky, young teen.
Many of the other heroes were hit like a hammer at the sight of what had happened to Power Guy, most notably the Huntress and Sargona. The Huntress buried herself in Nightvision’s chest as she began to cry. Robin was right behind her, rubbing her back, letting her know he was there for her. Sargona had turned away from the rest of her teammates and began weeping as quietly as she could. Jemstone, Black Vulcan, and Black Orchid surrounded her, trying to offer some support.
“I’m sorry Super Lad….but know that he fought until his last breath to save us all,” Argos said, trying to be as compassionate as he could.
“%*#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Super Lad. Where’s the Anti-Monitor? I’m going to rip his ^*@^(% head off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Wait a minute guys, everything should be…” started Nucleus until suddenly Power Guy began to cough slightly and opened his eyes.
“PeeGee!!!!!!!!!!!!” Super Lad exclaimed in relief as he looked down wearing a smile none of his teammates had ever seen before.
Power Guy looked confused, wondering what all of the fuss was about. “Uhh…hi, guys. Care to tell me what’s going on here?”
“We’re just glad you’re ok, Vince!” the Huntress said as she walked over and knelt down by her best friend.
“Ok?” repeated Power Guy, further confused.
“Nucleus, what did you do?” asked Whirlpool quietly.
“When I was messing with the Cosmic Egg, I told it that Power Guy had to survive,” responded the tiny titan. “He’s too important to too many people….”
“Good call,” agreed the prince of Atlantis.
“So now what?” asked the new Captain Marvel Jr., beating everyone to the question. “Earth S was destroyed. Are we all stuck here on Earth 2?”
“No,” replied Harbinger. “New Earth has been restored thanks to Nucleus though I am uncertain if everything will be exactly as you all remember it as New Earth was reformed without the aid of the Huntress, Dr. Fate, and the White Wraith. We are currently in an adjustment period while the universe realigns itself. Those of you who wish to go bak to New Earth may do so and those of you who wish to stay here on Earth 2 may do the same but know this, whatever earth you decide to stay on within the next few minutes, that will be your home from now on. Your history, powers, etc. will morph to fit whichever earth you choose. Make your choices carefully….”
“I think most of us will be going back to New Earth so I guess we just need to know who’s staying here?” Green Lantern said, opening the door for others to speak.
“Well, the Jade Sentinel, Robin, and I are obviously staying here,” advised Lightspeed. “Though, I’m sure our ranks will be depleted, the Society of Titans will continue on.”
“You know Lightspeed, I think it’s time the Squadron and the Society joined forces and merged together like we’ve been talking about,” suggested the new Liberty Belle.
“I couldn’t agree more,” confirmed Lightspeed. “We’ll call ourselves the Justice Society Unlimited from here on out.”
“So who else is staying?” asked Daniel Jordan.
“I am,” Hawk Warrior said, surprising the group.
“But why Christian?” asked Wonder Man, shocked by Hawk Warrior’s decision.
“Hector….please make it Hector,” requested the Winged Wonder. “I’ve been denying my true heritage for some time but no more. I want to get reacquainted with my family, including my wife.”
“I’m staying too,” added the Sixty Minute Soldier. “With my brother Junjie gone, my sister here is going to need my support,” he said, putting his arm around Liberty Belle.
“It’s ok, Rudy…..you don’t have to stay,” offered the all American powerhouse.
“I want to,” he said, smiling at her.
“I too shall be staying here on Earth 2,” Dr. Fate said as he took his place next to the Jade Sentinel and Lightspeed. “This has always been mine and Inza’s home. Sandra, will you be staying too?” he asked Phantom Lady.
“No, Kent….I’m sorry,” declined the spectral heroine. “After what happened to Danette, I just can’t stick around here…” she said as a tear dripped from her eye.
Over the last few minutes, the Huntress was trying to make the most difficult decision of her life. One part of her wanted to go back to New Earth with Power Guy and the others while another part of her longed to stay here on Earth 2 with Robin and the rest of the Society. The decision was eating away at her.
Green Lantern then turned to Sonic Boom, “How about you Di Di? Will you be coming back to New Earth with me?” he asked, a bit nervously.
“Are you kidding?” interrupted the Emerald Archer. “She’s got a life of luxury waiting here with me!” he said flirtatiously as he put his arm around the third Black Canary.
“Look buddy, you obviously don’t know how to take a hint,“ snapped Sonic Boom as elbowed the son of the Earth 2 Green Arrow in the gut. “Now keep your hands off of me.“ Turning back to Green Lantern, she replied, “Of course I will, Dan,” smiled the blonde bombshell, “After all, we’ve got some ‘plans’ to make,” she said as she hugged the love of her life.
“Well, Helena…..what are you going to do?” Power Guy asked, hoping not to pressure his best friend.
“I…I can’t decide,” she said, holding her head down. “I feel so torn.
“You will not have to decide Helena Wayne,” revealed Harbinger as she walked up to the Huntress. “The Wizard was correct when he told you that you were an anomaly.”
“Huh???” gasped the Huntress as she looked up at Harbinger.
“You are the daughter of two earths,” continued the blonde historian. “You are one of a kind. There is nothing and no-one like you on New Earth or on Earth 2 therefore I shall grant you with a gift,” she said waiving her hand.
Suddenly, the Huntress felt a tingly feeling all over her body. “What did you just do?” she asked inquisitively.
“You will now have the power to traverse between earths at your leisure,” explained Harbinger. “As some would say, you will now have the best of both worlds.”
“Oh thank you, Harbinger!” replied a grateful Huntress as she hugged the former herald of the Monitor. “So now, where will you go?”
“It seems that I am now forced to take over role of my former mentor, the Monitor,” answered Harbinger. “I will sit in my satellite and monitor the events on each earth in hopes of preventing such a catastrophe like today’s events from ever happening again. Now, are those of you who wish to go back to New Earth ready to leave?”
“You bet! I can’t wait to get out of this hideous costume,” grumbled Starman looking down at his yellow and red suit.
“You know dude, that seriously is the tackiest suit I’ve ever seen a superhero wear,” noted the Arachnid. “Those guys on Queer Eye For The Straight Guy would have a coronary if they saw you….”
“You should talk, ‘Beetle Boy’, retaliated Starman.
“Ok, you two - cool it!” ordered Phantom Lady. “God, we can’t take you two anywhere sometimes….” she smiled.
As the Titans headed for New Earth prepared to leave, the Jade Sentinel made his way up to Power Guy, “So long. Maybe you can come and visit us some time?”
“Well of course,” agreed Power Guy. “We have our first Titans of Justice Unlimited/Justice Society Unlimited team-up to plan,” he said with a wink.
“Working together from time to time sounds like a great idea,” Lightspeed added, agreeing with Power Guy and the Jade Sentinel. “Maybe we could even have a liaison or two.”
“I’ll do it!” offered the Huntress, enthusiastically.
“I’d also be happy to work with both teams from time to time,” added Hawk Warrior. “Though I need to stay here on Earth 2, going back to New Earth from time to time wouldn’t be so bad.”
“It better not be pal. You still owe me some surf and turf,” reminded Nucleus to his long time friend.
“You’ll get it buddy….that’s a promise,” confirmed Hawk Warrior as he shook Nucleus’ hand in preparation for his departure.
“Well, we’d better get back to the Brownstone so we can start a recruitment drive,” advised Lightspeed, “Even with the addition of Liberty Belle’s Squadron, we’ll be down a few members.”
“I wouldn’t worry too much Jason Garrick,” suggested Harbinger, “You may find a few new members waiting for you when you get back to your headquarters.”
Instantly, the Titans and Society members began exchanging their farewells including the Huntress and Robin. “Don’t worry, Dick, I won’t be gone long - I promise!” the Huntress said as she hugged the man she considered an older brother.
“You’d better not be,” smiled Robin. “Dr. Death escaped while we were rounding up the Injustice Society and I think I might need some help rounding him up.”
“Pffffft….who are you kidding?” smirked the Huntress. “You could bring him in without your utility belt and blindfolded.”
“Hahaha…you’re probably right but still, I’d like some company,” admitted Robin.
“You’ll have it….that’s a promise!” confirmed the Huntress.

Epilogue #1:
Later at the Hall of Justice…
As the crowd of heroes were departing to their homes, Power Guy made sure to catch up with Nucleus, “Jason, hold up! Can I have a word with you?”
“Sure, Vince. What’s up?” asked scientific genius as he and Queen Bee stopped in their tracks.
“I understand that I owe my life to you,” Power Guy said, looking at the tiny titan with an extreme look of seriousness. “I can’t even begin to thank you enough.”
“Don’t thank me. Any of us would have done the same,” replied Nucleus a bit nonchalantly.
“What’s wrong? You seem upset?” noticed the man of might.
“Well, while there’s no way I would change my decision, I must say that I’m disappointed in myself for making it,” revealed Nucleus.
Power Guy just stood silent, not sure how to take Nucleus’ answer.
“Don’t misunderstand me,” requested Nucleus. “I had to bring you back. You’re too important to too many people….the Huntress, Power Lad, Powerstorm, Sargona……the entire team would have been crippled without you. You’re the ’Superman’ of our generation. So many people depend on you. But at the same time, I did what I chastised the Wizard about. I played ‘God’ with reality. That‘s why I didn‘t bring back Junjie and the others. As a scientist, you can understand why that would bother me. ”
“I do,” Power Guy said, putting his hand on Nucleus’ shoulder. “And again, I can’t thank you enough. Well, I‘d better be going. I guess we‘ll see who shows up here next week, huh?”
“Yes,” agreed Nucleus. “I have a feeling the roster’s going to be a lot smaller than before the Crisis.”
“Ok, Jason, Latavia - I’ll be seeing you,” Power Guy said right before he took off.
As the worlds smallest couple finished their good-byes, Queen Bee turned to Nucleus, “Jason, you really shouldn’t be beating yourself up over bringing Vince back. Sometimes you have to make hard decisions to make sure things turn out the way they should. Now, why don‘t you let me help you with installing the new security system?”
