Last Time On Super Friends:
In the first issue of Super Friends, the team, plus Starman and Kid Comet, battled the super villain, Prince Vertigo. After his spectacular defeat, the Super Friends were offered a trip to England by William Hopford, a British millionaire…they gladly accepted, and today is the big day…
Atlantis…
It was the morning of the Super Friends trip to England to open ‘The Hotel Grand’. Considering they were a little low on numbers after Hawkgirl, White Wraith and Kai-Ro had been beaten to a pulp, two of the boys had decided to invite someone to take their place.
Whirlpool and Air Wave swam through the streets of Atlantis eagerly, the Atlanteans bowing to their future king.
Air Wave blushed as a woman bowed at his feet. “Um, really…you don’t have to do that. I’m not royalty!” Air Wave pushed past her carefully, sighing as he swam away from the other Atlanteans beginning to flock him. He followed Whirlpool into the castle that housed the Royal Family and their servants.
Whirlpool was immediately swarmed by butlers and maids offering to give him food. The prince simply smiled as he swam on, up a set of grand golden stairs to his sister’s quarters.
“I can’t believe your inviting Tula,” Air Wave said as they swam down a corridor to a room where music blasted out.
“Why not? She could learn a lot from this trip,” Whirlpool replied. “She’s very naïve to the outside world and only gets to visit me in my apartment around twice a year. Plus, she’s dead fond of you…”
Air Wave blushed behind his mask as Whirlpool knocked on his sister’s door. Tula spun around in shock and dropped her hairbrush she was currently singing into. She smiled and hugged her brother tightly.
“Whirlpool? Why are you here?”
“Tula, how would you like to go on a little vacation?”
Fawcett City…
Stellar and Bulletboy landed on the Fawcett High School roof. They were due to meet Sherry there at 11 o’ clock sharp, but so far there was no sign of her…
“It’s half past eleven, Stellar,” Bulletboy told his friend. “I don’t think Sherry is showing up…”
“Sorry I’m late!”
Stellar turned around as Sherry appeared on the roof.
“I had to get some of my gimmicks fixed and I woke up late…so what did you want, Stellar?”
“The Super Friends have been asked to go to England to open this hotel and..Bulletboy and I were wondering if you wanted to join us?”
Sherry smiled and then bounced up and down on the spot excitedly.
“I’ve never been to England before! Of course I’ll go with you, Stellar!”
Later, at the Hall of Justice…
“Are we all here?” Wonder Girl asked the assembled group of teenagers. Everybody nodded.
“Alright, here’s the plan,” Power Lad began, “We leave here at noon sharp. We get to Hopford’s hotel room at half past, and we leave in his jet at one. All clear?”
“Wow, Power Lad,” Totem interrupted, “I’ve never seen you so passionate about something!”
Everybody laughed and Power Lad smiled.
“It’s the free vacation that’s getting him so excited,” Air Wave added, “that and the hot chicks that are gonna be there!”
“Alright, we should get going. C’mon guys!” Wonder Girl said, leading the way out of the Hall.
“Wait!”
The team stopped as Sherry ran over to the medical bay. She pointed to three people currently lying in the beds there: Kai-Ro, Hawkgirl and White Wraith. None of them had recovered from the attack by Prince Vertigo yet. “What about them?”
Everybody fell silent. They had all forgotten about their injured team-mates. It was Whirlpool who came up with an excuse.
“Um…we have a time limit guys! We’ve got fifteen minutes to get there! We don‘t have time to get them prepared.” Everybody nodded in agreement and ran out of the Hall. Sherry just shrugged and followed them eagerly.
Meanwhile, in a secret lair…
“Rose, I have called for you especially.”
“What do you want, father? I told you, I’m busy nowadays.”
The man known as Deathstroke the Terminator turned around to face his daughter. He was wearing a black suit and his thin white hair was combed back. He was definitely not the fierce warrior he once was.
“Your looking frail, father,” Rose Wilson mocked. Even though she was nearing fifty, she still looked like the image of health. Her own white hair trailed down her back. A black and orange mask kept her eyes hidden.
“I’m off the drugs now, dear.”
Rose nodded as her father stood up, guided by a walking cane.
“I have a job for you.”
“I don’t work for you anymore, father.”
“You do now, Rose. Guards.”
The woman known as the Ravager flinched slightly as a team of guards circled her.
“Your goons don’t scare me. I’ll kill them all in ten seconds.”
“No you won’t. All of them are highly trained assassins. They could kill you in under five. Now. You work for me, or you work for the devil…in Hell.”
Rose nodded without saying a word.
“Good…your job is simple. This man…” Slade Wilson handed his daughter a photo. “His name is William Hopford. A millionaire who recently cunningly stole a nice sum of MY money for his own business. You go to his resort in England, you rob him of all his riches. You bring him back to me, alive. I will finish him.”
“And I am expected to do this by myself? A rich man like himself will surely have some security.”
“Yes he does. The Super Friends.”
“W-Who?”
“A bunch of brats, not unlike the Teen Titans. He’s got them in his sights to protect him if anything goes wrong. The man has even got them opening up his hotel. To aid you defeat the Super Friends, I present to you the new Fearsome Five.
Ravager’s eyes narrowed as four figures appeared from behind Slade.
“Use them well. For the rest of your life you work with them. For me.”

England, The Hotel Grand…
“Here we are, kids!”
“I don’t like how he calls us kids…”
The Super Friends had finally arrived in England. The private jet had landed on top of the Hotel Grand, which was currently packed full of people - staff were preparing rooms and getting ready for the grand opening, and visitors were queuing excitedly outside for the Super Friend’s speech.
“So where do we sleep?” Totem asked, as William opened a hatch leading to a staircase.
“If you’ll follow me,” he said. He led the way down a metal staircase that ended abruptly at a door. Using one of many keys, he unlocked it and showed them the top floor corridor. Power Lad was nearly crying with joy as he was welcomed into his room by a hostess. He dropped his bag on the floor and ran over to the large clear windows overlooking the Golden Sands resort.
“This place is amazing!” He whispered as Stellar ran up to him.
“Hey, we have to get downstairs! The opening’s about to begin!”
***
“This is it…just five minutes of talking about why we’re so happy to be here, and then we can party!” Wonder Girl laughed, as a bellboy led her to her position for the opening.
“I know, right? This weekend is going to be amazing!” Tula agreed, “I can’t believe my brother invited me!”
Wonder Girl smiled and said, “y’know, I don’t think it was your brother that invited you.” She pointed over to Air Wave who was currently trying to memorize lines for the speech.
“Who? Air Wave?” Tula asked. Wonder Girl nodded matter-of-factly. “No! Why would he…”
“Your so naïve, Tula!” Wonder Girl giggled, “he obviously fancies you!”
Tula looked away and blushed, which caused Wonder Girl to giggle even more.
“Alright!” William shouted, gathering the teenager’s attention. “Are we all here, in position?”
“We’re just missing Power Lad…” Stellar pointed out. “He was following me just a minute ago…”
“We haven’t got time to wait around,” the millionaire concluded. “We’re going to have to start without him. I’ll say the welcomes, then I’ll hand the speeches over to you!”
Whirlpool nodded from the front of the steps. He had been elected to speak the biggest part of the speech, if only because he was the most confident…apart from Power Lad, but he wasn’t trusted by anybody to do it right. William finished his speech, and handed his microphone to Whirlpool.
“Well, the Super Friends are very excited to be here. We’ve seen the hotel, and we can tell you, it’s looking good!” Everybody, including his sister, laughed at his pun. Whirlpool grimaced at the bad script and continued to speak. “The Hotel Grand is sure to be the -”
“GET OFF OF ME, YOU PERVERT!”
Everybody turned around to see a maid running away from someone running after them - Power Lad. The team groaned as he nudged past them angrily.
“You know, any normal girl would be more than happy to get with me! You don’t know what your missing out…on…oh.”
Power Lad had realized his mistake too late. As the crowd looked on in disbelief, William marched towards them, with a face like the devil.
“Um…sorry?”
***
“Oh, well done, Power Lad! Not only did you give us the worst reputation since the Cheeky Girls, you got us stuck in this stupid shack!”
“Shut up, Changeling!”
“TOTEM!”
“Whatever! Just shut up, it’s not my problem that I’m too difficult to approach cuz I’m so hot!”
Bulletboy groaned at Power Lad’s bad compliment. They had all been stuck in the worst quality accommodations on the resort - a small, broken-down caravan on the beach front. It was only designed to hold 2 people - but now it was housing nine unhappy teenagers.
“I don’t know what your groaning about, pointy-head!”
“Okay, right now I’m not even in costume, so I haven’t got a pointy head!”
“I can’t stand any of this anymore!” Stellar shouted above all of the arguing. “I’m going out to check some of the rides. We’re lucky we still have our free passes to the theme park!”
“Yeah, I’m going too…” Whirlpool agreed. Soon, nearly the whole gang had left.
“I can’t be bothered with all the noise…I’m going to the beach.” Air Wave sighed, before looking at Power Lad. “Oh wait, I’m already ON the beach!”
“I-I’ll go with you…” Tula offered, running after him.
Power Lad sighed, before leaving the shack too. “I’m hungry. I’m gonna see if this place has got a Big Belly Burger somewhere near-by.”

The theme park…
"This place rocks! Who knew there would be so many rides?” Totem and Wonder Girl walked through the theme park, eyeing up all the rides. “Ooh look! The Rollercoaster of Death!”
“That looks a bit risky…” Wonder Girl thought. Totem looked at her in hope. “Let’s go on it!”
The two girls jumped into a cart and flashed their free passes at the man watching over the ride. They shouted as the cart swooped down the track as fast as a speeding bullet.
“This is amaaaaaaazing!” Totem screamed as they went around a loop.
Suddenly, the track shook violently.
“I don’t think that’s supposed to happen…” Wonder Girl said, trying to look around as the cart sped on.
The track shook again, even more than the first time. The people screamed as the cart was suddenly lifted off the track.
“What’s happening?” Totem screamed as the cart was thrown off the track. The people inside screamed as they hurtled to their certain doom.
“WONDER GIRL, DO SOMETHING!”
“I can’t! I can’t get this stupid harness off! It's all complicated! I can't move my arms!"
The girls shut their eyes and prepared for impact, when they stopped falling. The cart flew through the air, landing on the ground safely. Power Lad appeared beside the cart, ripping the harnesses off.
“What was that?” Wonder Girl asked, shaking.
“I don’t know, but it’s happening everywhere!” Power Lad responded, as the rest of the team ran towards them. They watched as Bulletboy rescued a falling boy who had been pushed off another rollercoaster.
“This is madness!” He shouted as he landed. “Who’s doing this?”
“No time for questions!” Whirlpool shouted out. He pointed up to a support beam holding up a rollercoaster track. “LOOK OUT!”
***
The Beach…
“How’s life in Atlantis?” Air Wave asked Tula as they sat on the promenade overlooking the sea.
“It’s kinda boring…not much goes on. I wish I could live on the land.”
“Heh…I’d swap any day,” Dan Jordan laughed. He took off his mask and ruffled his thick blond hair.
“It would be so cool to join you guys on the Super Friends,” Tula replied, looking at Air Wave quickly. She quickly looked away as he turned around.
“Why don’t you ask Huntress to let you join? I’m sure she won’t mind…”
“I would but, I don’t think I could stand being with Whirlpool all of the time. And two, I kinda…like somebody on the team, and…I’d be too shy around them to work properly…”
Air Wave laughed and said, “so who is it you like? I could always put a word in for you.”
Tula blushed and looked at the boy shyly. “I think…you know who it is I like…”
Air Wave stopped smiling and looked at Tula. She looked back, and for a moment they just stared at each other nervously. Finally, Air Wave leaned in, before a loud crash from nearby disrupted them.
“What was that?” Tula breathed.
“I don’t know, but we have to check it out,” Air Wave replied solemnly, sticking his mask back on. The two teenagers blushed as they ran to the centre of the noise…

Air Wave and Aquagirl ran into the theme park hurriedly, shocked by the site that they saw. In front of them, crowds of people screamed and cameras flashed around. A little overhead, William Hopford screamed, “my park! My beautiful park!”
“Make way!” Air Wave shouted, pushing through the crowds.
“What’s going on?” Aquagirl asked, following him closely. They reached the front and stopped immediately. The sight in front of them was horrific. The Super Friends groaned as they lay injured on the ground, surrounded by rubble and fire. Aquagirl screamed as she noticed Whirlpool clutching his head which was dirty and bloody. But what was most surprising…was the giant red pole that had collapsed in the street. The rollercoaster up above was trembling dangerously as its support had been crushed from underneath it.
“C’mon Tula, help them up!” Air Wave ordered, picking Totem up onto her feet. Aquagirl grabbed Whirlpool and tried to look at his injury, when Sherry screamed from nearby.
“What is it?” Stellar responded, picking himself up and stumbling over to her.
“It’s Bulletboy!” she cried. Everybody looked at her trying to lift a chunk of the beam off the ground. “He’s stuck underneath this! Stellar…I think he’s dead!”
“You’ll all be dead in a matter of minutes!”
Wonder Girl gasped as Ravager appeared in front of the group, surrounded by four people that looked oddly like people she had saw pictures of.
“Wait…are you…?”
“We are the Fearsome Five, girl! And we are going to kill every last one of you. We’ll start with the Super Chums, then we’ll move onto you, Mr. Hopford.”
William gulped as Ravager pointed her sword at him.
“Then, we’ll steal your fortune. You have two options: you surrender and I kill you…or we fight, and then I kill you. Your choice, kids."
