Three words:
Governor.
Chris.
Christie.
(Not that the other states I cited are exactly socialist paradises. And my native Arkansas is responsible for Mike Huckabee. But still.)

Ummmm ... that is, our stupid daddy's native Arkansas.
We're all natives of Alabama.
Also not exactly an oasis of intellect & ideology.

The Sheppard intro thing is so creepy as to border on the surreal. Can't speak for Ish, whose adulation for Jeter & the Yankees has apparently resulted in outright dementia (though age-related mental decline can't be ruled out, either), but I know plenty of hardcore Yankee fans on Baseball Think Factory whose flesh crawls every time the zombie player intro kicks in.
In a way, though, it's sort of appropriate, since Jeter was already playing a zombielike SS way back when Sheppard was hale & hearty.

A woman my girlfriend works with has easily spent $2,000 on tickets alone going to all the goodbye farewell, last game ceremonies. Not to mention merchandise she bought with farewell or whatever to apparently the greatest player baseball has ever seen. It's definitely been a money maker for the Yankees.

Our stupid daddy still thinks he's us & is posting accordingly.
Speaking of "so creepy as to border on the surreal."
Not that we have any use for Derek Jeter, either. He'd make a pretty good scratching post, though, since he's so immobile in the field.

One of my favorite players as a kid. IIRC, his 1965 Topps baseball card misspells his name as Katt on the front, & maybe on the back as well.
Sort of (p)preminiscent of Brian Piccolo's only football card, from the 1969 Topps set. It misspelled his first name as "Bryon" on the front &, IIRC, "Bryan" on the back.
Probably that's why he died so young -- the bitter disappointment curdled into cancer.

Yesterday was a good day, as the Yankees were officially eliminated from playoff contention, thus making Sunday the definitive end of Derek Jeter's career. No longer do I have to worry that this whole overblown saga would potentially be drawn out if the Yankees somehow progressed through the postseason, every win being attributed to the team trying to give Captain Gift Basket one more championship before he finally gets put out to pasture, thus giving him even more time to copulate with women of fine features, limited intelligence, and questionable morals.

Obviously so little to do in the little hamlet of Trafford,PA but to ruminate about the career of Derek Jeter and show the frustration of not having his awesome presence on their home team all these years. Ah well

My beloved Dodgers clinch the West.... Kershaw was in fine form last night. 8 innings...11 Ks. Near perfect. Most wins the MLB, lowest ERA in the MLB, most Ks. And me missed 4 starts during the season... God of Baseball.

Does Trafford have a minor league team? Yes, Jeter probably should've been sent there at some point to work on his laughable fielding.
