One of the upsides of Jeter's retirement-the end of the relevance of the Yankees. Cashman is incapable of building a truly competitive team with the core he has and they have no quality in their farm system to rebuild with or to trade away to bring back anything. With kid Stienbrenner keeping a tighter grip on the purse strings he won't be able to spend his way back to relevance, and what spending he did this year mostly turned out bad because he apparently likes handing out money to players on the downside of their career thinking they still have the upside to make the Yanks champs again. Unless several international players with upside post and the Yanks outbid everyone for all of them, there is no influx of talent coming to the Yanks to save things. The return of A-Fraud (and possibly his return to short if the Yanks do not find someone else not named Stephen Drew to play there?) will be the only headlines the Yanks generate next season as they return to the woeful ways of the 80s in the Bronx. So it's not surising to see Yanks fan clinging to Jeter like he was the last lifeline to relevance for their team..he is.

I had Kershaw on my fantasy team a couple of years ago. Incredible pitcher, as you well know.
This year (& maybe last) I had Felix Hernandez. I've lucked out.

With so many teams locking up their young star-level players into their early 30's, the Yankees are only going to be able to get free agents who are already on the downside of their careers. They'll overpay to get those folks (like Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann, etc., from this year's crop), and be SHOCKED when those players get injured, have production declines, and don't live up to the ridiculous contracts they signed. |

In the past, though, they've had a real knack for getting quality stretches (a month or two, rarely even a half-season, IIRC) from players who really have no business being in the majors, much less excelling for more than a few minutes. Aaron Small et al., come on down.
I won't put anything past their & Ca$hman's blind luck in that regard until all involved are safely buried.

Being a Mississippi native (who's been away from "home" for a while), I enjoy watching the Saints every year. So far, they haven't been quite as exciting to watch, lol.
I also enjoy watching the Celtics in the NBA (even though I have no relation to the team, other than enjoying watching how their team has evolved over the years.)

O's didn't have a chance at nailing down the best record in the AL, so Showalter tries to show he's not the tightest of all tight-asses in baseball, doesn't walk His Calm Eyes as he should have, hoping to gain favor with the disdainful one.
The post-game worship is unctuous to a fault. "Mister Torre?" Really?

I have no idea to what "sport" that's supposedly referring.
Also, Terrell Owens needs to be shot in the head. Not that it would have any appreciable impact, I'm sure.
