And I've never liked the Cowboys, going back to childhood, probably because everyone around me thought they hung the moon, since Dallas then & now is the closest thing to a local team for SW Arkansas. (Stamps is about 235 miles or so from there.) Obviously, my contrarian nature has deep, long roots.
(Unfortunately for my mental state, such as it is, that didn't extend to my Razorbacks fanhood.)
In any event, last Sunday I was at the LCS when Dan Bailey kicked the winning FG for the Cowboys in, I believe, OT on the shop's TV. I just hate it when that happens.

Game 1 of the NLCS goes to the Giants. Madison Bumgarner played a fantastic game. That was a spectacular effort by MadBum. Set a postseason record for consecutive scoreless innings on the road. Phenomenal! Quite a game last night, albeit not the outcome I had hoped for. Both teams fought tooth and nail for the win. It was so much fun to watch. Sadly, Romo gave up the game-winning homer to Wong. What a game that was though. NLCS tied 1-1. Big Monday Night stage for Rams' QB Austin Davis tonight. I hear he almost pulled a comeback against the Eagles, down 34-7, and pulled within 34-28 after tossing for 252 yards and two touchdowns in the 2nd half. Curious to see how he does against the 49ers, who need to keep winning despite all of the off-field drama of late.

It's interesting to note that five of the eight teams still alive in the baseball playoffs are from the original 16 teams that comprised Major League Baseball before 1960. And now it's three out of four.

And now it's three out of four. I look at it as the original teams when the NL and AL began, and from that standpoint its only the St Louis Cardinals. The Orioles are the relocated St Louis Browns as of 1954, The Giants belong back in Manhattan, and the KC Royals was a 1969 compensation to that cowtown when the KC Athletics moved to Oakland

It's true that six of the Original Sixteen have moved since 1950, and two of those six are in the playoffs now, along with one of the ten who didn't move, and one from the fourteen expansion franchises. Seems like the teams that are old but in a new place have the best odds.

We played rough early, but turned it around right before the half and never really looked back. Colin had one of his best games. Threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns all to different receivers. Only put the ball up 36 times. Would have had four if Vernon didn't sabotage Vance McDonald's endzone catch. Oy. Both those guys were stinking up the joint. Anyways, Greg Williams is Colin's best friend. He constantly blitzes with his defenses, which is the worst thing you could do against Colin as he'll make you pay for it. We didn't run the ball that well unfortunately. The Rams definitely shut us down in that area. We gave both Hyde and Gore a decent amount of carries. Couldn't do anything though. Iupati got hurt, but we still should have been able to get a yard on three straight attempts. That's on the players. The defense brought the lumber. Sacked Austin Davis 5 times. Ahmad Brooks looked like Ahmad Brooks for the first time all year. Perrish Cox continues to be the biggest surprise this year. All in all a nice performance after initially crumbling early. Way to bounce back. Harbaugh has really got this team focused despite all the nonsense that has been put out there by the media. Beat two 5-1 teams and climbed out of a 1-2 start. Next week is at Denver. May not have a lot of our key players. Now Willis and Iupati are nicked up. Ahmad Brooks might be the only starter from our linebacker group next week. At least Aaron Lynch has looked good for a rookie. Manning might kill us. I think it's going to be up to the offense to try and get us a win. I definitely don't want everyone frothing at Manning breaking Brett Favre's record. At least not in a win. I hope we spoil the party. Then we'll have a bye. Even if we lose 4-3 wouldn't be bad heading into the bye and then getting the Rams at home. Should be interesting. All in all great effort. Payback for last night's Giants loss I suppose. 2-1 in St.Louis the last three days ain't bad.

Our offense came to life near the end of the 2nd quarter last night, and Kaepernick threw some nice TD passes to Lloyd, Boldin and Crabtree. That should have been a TD pass to McDonald too, but it turned into Tweedledee and Tweedledum in the end zone with Davis gettin' greedy (a classic MNF lmao moment). Going to be a huge game in Denver next week that I can't wait to watch. Giants just won off a Blanco bunt, boy was that game torture to watch today! Huge win. We go up 2-1, going to need Vogey's best pitching to get another win at home tomorrow.

Damn. I didn't see the game since I was on a trip to Austin. You know how I kept up? The little sports ticker at the bottom of ESPN on Virgin Air TV on a mini low quality screen. That is the only way I knew what was going on. It was 4-0 Giants and every time I took a mini nap and woke up the Cardinals were coming back. Just those little updates at the bottom. ESPN said nothing about it as they were talking football all day. When I got to the airport sporting my SF cap and waiting in line to rent a car, that is when they finally pulled it out. Kept checking my phone for updates. I'm just glad they didn't choke.

The last time the Kansas City Royals lost a playoff game, Aha's "Take on Me" was topping the charts.

Nothing really against the orioles, but Buck Showalter's the kind of guy I enjoy seeing lose.
Takes himself wa-a-ay too seriously.

Giants come back a bit with 2 runs, now down by 1. This game is going to be a battle of the bullpens.
