Man, I could read a whole comic based on Tim just trying to fit in with his family, I really hope we see more flashbacks in the future.

Read this tonight... I didn't like it nearly as much as you guys did. I agree it's a nice back story set up, but it seems like one of those stories that's going to take forever for anything to happen. It's also a bit too 'borrowed' for my tastes.

I really like that slow burn feel in my reading, but it really picks up the pace in the second issue and I feel like that will only build as it goes.

Issue 3 came out yesterday and I'm really liking the speed the story is taking. I was expecting it to take a lot more time for TIM and his creator to meet up.

Got the first trade of this last week and sat down to read it tonight. Pretty amazing stuff. I think I adore Lemire's creator -owned stuff, but most of his DC stuff has left me absolutely cold (excluding Vertigo, Trillium was one of my favorite series in recent years). I haven't read any of his Marvel stuff to gauge it, but he has a way of creating empathy for his characters in his creator-owned stuff that just seemed lacking in his work on corporate characters. They have soul where his big 2 characters seem to be what they are these days-soulless shells being put through paint by number stories for the most part.
But this, I was engaged from the first page to the last and issue 6's revelations took it to another level and changed the ballgame a bit. I was not really a fan of Nguyen's stuff before this, but I really dug what he was doing here. Look forward to seeing where it foes when Volume 2 is released (only 1 issue beyond the first trade is out so far, so it will be a while for me).

Nguyen though is one of my favorite modern artists, especially when inked by derek fridolfs.

Got and read #7 today, so I am up to date on this one. Nguyen's artwork was a bit loose to me in this issue. Story moved to the next step, hard to say where it is going next but I am game to follow along.

So, how many people kept up with this seires, and if you did, what do you think now that it's over (and its follow up Ascender is launching)? I am in the midst of Vol. 6 now having read volumes 1-5 over the course of a few days, and I am still loving this series. I should be wrapping up Vol. 6 tonight or tomorrow.

I bought the first trade on Comixology (along with Monstress Vol.1) during a sale awhile back but its still in my Image to read list. I was on a strong Image kick a few years ago, mainly because of Saga, Autumnlands and Five Ghosts, but I've shifted to reading primarily classic material of late. I've come to the conclusion that I have to read modern series in trade/arc format or I'll lose interest in the individual issues if I take too long of a break.

The ending wasn't what I was expecting at all, but I love how the follow up is so drastically different than what came before. A move like that takes serious guts.
