Ah, radiation in 60s comic books. Was there anything it could not do? It gave you super powers, made your kids mutants and let you hypnotize a god. Almost seems the only thing it didn’t do was to give folks cancer and kill them. Marvel was still in it's infancy and was prone to follow along with the Model that DC set. You don't see stuff like this anymore. They have a character that wears a suit to protect others . Her name is Hazmat. It's still make believe but at least Comics are trying to keep it based in reality. But I love the Kirby art.

Knorda, normal-sized queen of the mountain giants. Not to be confused with Knerda, giant-sized queen of the mountain normals. Tales of Asgard, from Journey into Mystery 109.

I wonder how Marvel got away with having a book with Milo Manara drawing all the women with "O" faces, And why do the fans continue to savage Greg Land over it? Because Greg Land does not draw comics, Milo Manara does? Here, I drew a pic of Crystal of the Inhumans, Greg Land style: Oh wait, I did not draw shit, I just googled the face of a famous person and then spent 90 seconds on a freeware graphics software. Now I can hand this in to Jay Leisten for inks and then a colorist and naive fans will swoon how realistic I can draw. Greg Land made it possible for a talent-free hack like me to try and be an admired comic book artist. Greg Land is a lazy embarrassment who assembles image files he googled. And he is even too lazy to google often, as he keeps using the same damn face over and over and over and over and over and over again. If I see his inappropriately grinning Tony Stark one more time, I am going to fly over to New York and go to the Marvel Comics Offices and fart in every office after eating beans for a year. Make that two years! Greg Land is not using photo reference. He is using photos. Greg Land is not even tracing, he is copying and pasting and giving his uninspired, failing at narrating a story crap to Jay Listen to have HIM trace it. Greg Land should be waiting tables somewhere instead of making books like Mighty Avengers fail.

When I first read this, I thought it was Byrne trying too hard to copy Superman the Movie.

I've occasionally listened to the Williams theme while reading Superman origins...good times.

Warlock 11 (Starlin, Leialoha, and Orzehowski). I think this single page really rekindled my, dormant for 30 odd years, love of comic books(that and my kids). No flash bang wallop here, no fireworks - but a beautifully laid out page, images and lettering working together in rhythm. Simple, elegant, confident, stylish storytelling. Love it.
