Storm Surge always enjoyed his visits to the coast side elementary school. He was continuing the family tradition of introducing the students to sea life and respect for the ocean. In fact, his father Aquaman attended the same school as a child and Garth after him. Aquaman and Mera had started the program years ago and now, Storm Surge continued the visits. As he started out across the ocean, he received a telepathic message from a school of dolphins.
“Storm Surge, quickly….there is a monster….terrorizing our brothers at the next inlet.” the dolphins pleaded.
“Say no more, friends. I will be happy to help.” Storm Surge had no idea what could be troubling the dolphins. “Probably a shark looking for dinner. A mental suggestion will send him on his way.” the handsome man thought.
As he neared the inlet, he noticed a hulking figure standing in bloody water. Dolphins had been ripped to shreds and their remains floated in the murky liquid.
“Neptune preserve me! You animal, what have you done??” he yelled, anger swelling in his throat.
The figure turned around, his mouth bloodied. “Solomon Grundy got hungry fish man, needed a snack!” He snarled, blood dripping from his yellow, cracked teeth.
Storm Surge, full of rage lunged at Solomon Grundy. He landed a punch that the behemoth merely shook off. Being a newer member of the Titans of Justice, Storm Surge had never tangled with Solomon Grundy before, but had heard stories of Green Lantern’s encounters with the villain. “That punched should have knocked him out cold!” he thought, mind racing.
“Solomon Grundy got to bring you back to Hall of Doom fish-stick!” he growled as he wrapped his cold, veiny arms around the prince of Atlantis.
“His grip…can’t break free….” Storm Surge gasped. He was able to maneuver one leg behind Grundy’s , tripping him. Solomon Grundy fell backwards, startled.
“Now, I have to hit him with all I’ve got.” Storm Surge said to himself. As he leapt towards the monster called Solomon Grundy, he noticed Grundy was already on his feet. He inadvertently threw himself at Grundy. The swamp zombie wrapped his arms around Storm Surge.
“Got myself into that one…..now, how do I get….out…” he wondered as he felt Grundy’s arms growing tighter and tighter around him. He felt a rib pop and then another. “He’s….crushing me….” Storm Surge gasped as sweat poured off him. “He’s dehydrating me….too.”
Solomon Grundy squeezed until Storm Surge dropped to the ground like a limp rag doll.
“Well done, Grundy!” came Lance Luthor’s voice, his face projected on the bottom of the floating from above Hall of Doom. “But, why didn’t you use the heat ray from Dr. Nata’s old weapons arsenal?”
“Grundy not need silly toy! Catch fish-man on my own! It more fun, my way!” he shouted as he picked Storm Surge up by the hair of his head and the two of them were teleported into the Hall of Doom.

Nighttime in Gotham City…
Batgirl made her way through a jewelry warehouse. She had received a call from the Gotham City police department that a silent alarm had been tripped.
“Nothing out of the ordinary.” she surmised as everything looked to be in place. There weren’t any signs of disturbance, so she radioed to Knightvision, who was in place atop the building next door.
“Must have been a cat or a malfunction. Did you see anything from up there?” she asked the man she loved.
“Not a thing. Come on up.” he replied.
Soon she joined her partner. The night was unseasonably warm. Knightvision and Batgirl had weathered many storms in their relationship, but still did not see eye to eye on one very important topic.
“Brendon, have you thought about what I asked you. About giving this up and moving away from here?” she asked.
“I have. Brenda, I love you….but I have a responsibility to my family…to protect Gotham City. I can’t just leave plus you just became Batgirl. I thought that would reignite your fire for this business.”
“But, we have been over this a million times. Your mother and father both are ok with you stopping. They want grandchildren!”
The couple continued to quarrel as a sleek female figure watched. “Ah!” she thought. “Discord! This could play out very well for me.” The figure continued watching as another woman with a feline form emerged.
“A lover’s spat! Oh, what will you do on Valentine’s Day!” The Cheetah hissed, her claws glistening in the moonlight.
The other woman who watched from afar retreated into the shadows. “I better see how this unfolds. He may need me.” she thought, green eyes widening.
“The Cheetah!? What brings you to Gotham City?” Batgirl demanded, reaching into her belt for something. “How can this be the Cheetah, she’s dead and her grandson is the new Cheetah??” she looked towards Knightvsion.
“Oh no you don’t my dear, I know all about your toys!” Cheetah screamed, her eyes wild with madness. With lightning speed, she slashed at Batgirl’s arm, nearly severing her hand. Batgirl gasped and recoiled.
Knightvision leapt at the Cheetah. He wasn’t aware of a new female Cheetah, but this one seemed as insane as the original. He had listened to Wonder Man tell stories of how his grandmother fought the Cheetah in World War II and knew anyone out to imitate her was no joke.
“Hate to end your masquerade, but we don’t need copy cats of long dead villainesses running around.” Knightvision uttered.
“Well, aren’t we a smarty-pants!” she laughed, dodging his punch. Despite being trained by the best, Knightvision’s reflexes were nothing for the speed of the Cheetah. She landed a punch to the back of his head, sending him face down onto the rooftop. “Fool, I am the real Cheetah! Back for vengeance, blah blah! Hahahahahaha!!!!” she screeched as she grabbed Knightvision by the throat and ran her clawed finger down the side of his face. He wanted to scream out in pain, but refused. Just then Batgirl hurled a Bat-a-rang at the Cheetah, which she caught with her free hand.
“Stupid girl! I am the Cheetah, the fastest animal on earth! You think your silly gimmicks are a match for me??” With that she slammed Knightvison’s head into the hard concrete roof, breaking his nose and sending him into unconsciousness.
Before Batgirl could react, Cheetah was on her, claws flying. Within moments, Batgirl was a bloody mess. “Now to finish you off, my dear!”
“Whooaaa there, Cheetah. Remember the rules of the game? All the players must be present for the executions!” The Riddler giggled as he emerged from the darkness. “Besides, the Hall of Doom is just overhead and ready to receive our next two guests.
“You’re right Riddler. I guess I lost control.”
“I’ll say! I almost wanted you to kill that b_tch right here!” The Riddler offered as he, Batgirl, and Knightvision were transported upwards. “Remember, we will be back to collect you after you are finished with Champion. Don’t kill her until we all get to see her suffer!”
The Cheetah smiled at the Riddler as she felt her own pulse quicken. “Champion. The harlot daughter of Wonder Woman. I cannot wait to send your head to your mother and see her face….before I kill the entire Wonder family.” The Cheetah leapt from the building and disappeared into the shadows.
The silent figure who had watched the entire battle emerged. She looked upward. “Knightvison…..I didn’t come this far to lose you again. I’ll save you. May let them keep Batgirl, but you will be mine. We’ll be happy. You’ll see.” she smiled as a warm breeze embraced her. With that, she too leapt form the building into the warm Gotham night.
