The harsh wind slapping against her face coupled with the insecure feeling of falling jarred the falling beauty awake. As she passed through a cloud on her descent she realized just how high she was in the sky and screamed in horror. It was then that she discovered that her sonic scream was gone. There would be no more Sonic Boom and when she landed there would be no more Di Di Queen. For nearly a year she and her brother had spent a considerable amount of time falling from buildings in preparation for whatever challenge their commitment to crime fighting might bring. But nothing could save her from this fall. She wondered how she got so high in the sky. She didn’t remember being in an airplane, nor could she see any aircraft within sight. She tried to activate her Titans East communicator, but it wasn’t responding. For some reason it was dead.
Di Di wasn’t afraid to die, but she deeply regretted that she wouldn’t be able to say good-bye to her family. She loved her parents and twin brother so much. Why hadn’t she taken the time to tell them? A solitary tear traced her lovely cheek as she realized that now she would never have the chance to tell Daniel that she loved him. She looked below to gauge how close she was to impact and then she saw her only hope of survival. Also falling about thirty feet beneath her was the unconscious (or dead?) body of her teammate Daniel Jordan, the Green Lantern. If she could just wake him up they would both survive. She dove downward and caught up with him. Placing her arm around his shoulders she yelled directly into his ear, “Daniel! Daniel, wake up!” She slapped him several times to no avail. She feared that they would both perish as their imminent death ebbed closer and closer. She had only one more idea left. If it worked he would wake up and use his power ring to save them both. If it didn’t at least she would die knowing that she had kissed the man that she had loved all of her life.

Junjie Quick felt an unusual chill as he slept and reached in a drowsy stupor for his blanket. It only took a few moments for him to realize that not only was he freezing without a blanket, but that he was in his heroic uniform and completely encased in snow. He had absolutely no recollection of where he was, how he got in this situation, or how long he had been buried in this casket of ice. He began vibrating slowly to melt his tomb of snow. After a few moments he increased his vibrational speed and found that he was buried much deeper than he had thought. He could only guess which way was up at this point, so he began spinning and swimming upwards through the snow. When he shot up into the air above the snowline he took a deep gasp of bitterly cold air. He landed firmly on the snowy surface and knew instantly that he was on a mountainside. There were snowy mountains as far as he could see. His heart began pounding. “Where am I?” he thought as he turned about looking in all directions. “How did I get here? Which way do I go?” His suit was insulated, yet still he still felt quite cold. Not knowing what to do, he picked a direction and began running as fast as he could, until he heard a horrible and frightening noise. Junjie stopped in awe and alarm as he gazed at the tornado quickly approaching him. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He had never heard of a tornado in freezing weather conditions. As far as he knew it was a scientific impossibility. But he could not deny the white nightmare speeding toward him that was shooting off sleet and ice. “It must be at least an F-3,” he thought as he sped out of its way. He slowed down and took short shallow breaths once it passed by…and then two more F-2 sized ice tornadoes appeared and started approaching his location.

The disc jockey known as DJ Invincible had the strangest dream. He dreamed that he went deep-sea diving. His favorite part was seeing all of the colorful fish and beautiful plant life of the depths. It was a pleasant dream until he woke up abruptly choking on the salty water of the ocean. His sharp Kryptonian mind quickly ascertained that he must be somewhere near the ocean floor, but he had no clue as to which ocean. Using his super-vision he discovered which direction was up and began swimming with all of his might. Under normal circumstances he could spend a great deal of time underwater before having to surface for air, but he had no idea how long he had been in the ocean. He hadn’t had a history of sleepwalking, but could it be possible that he had actually gone swimming in his sleep? However he had gotten here, he needed air and he needed it NOW. Power Guy swam faster and faster, but even with his super-speed the surface seemed so far away. He began losing hope that he would make it to the surface in time. Then he saw the whale coming directly for him. Power Guy wouldn’t usually be afraid of a measly sea monster, no matter how large. However, when one is in desperate need of air and is completely clueless about one’s situation, one tends to panic. In an effort to escape the great sea beast Vince swam straight into the opened mouth of its companion and was swallowed whole.

Helena Wayne woke up to the stench of rotting garbage. Her neck was stiff and there was something slimy on her left shoulder. “Where am I?” she thought as she cleared trash from her face. “I don’t remember…How did I get here in this…garbage dump?” She was removing the trash away from her body when she felt something hairy run across her legs just above her hip boots.
“EEEEEEEEE-YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!” screamed the raven-haired beauty as she swatted the rat away. The Huntress was not accustomed to surprise. She was a calm and cool, take-things-in-stride kind of lady. She always analyzed and prepared before she would begin stalking her prey. But this…this…waking up in a trash dump in an alley somewhere. She didn’t like this at all.
The Huntress checked her mask and hip bag. Everything was in place. But she was going to have to get home and change her costume. She smelled horrible and there was something nasty in her hair. Effortlessly, she secured a bat-line to the roof of a nearby building and was soon air-bound. Once on top of the roof she could tell that she was in Gotham City, and not far from her apartment. But something wasn’t right. Where was her motorcycle? She couldn’t remember why, but it just seemed like she was supposed to be in New York for some reason. With an awesome display of stealth and agility the Huntress soon arrived two blocks from her home. She removed her civilian clothing from the secret lining in her cape and changed in the privacy of the forested area of Brownwood Park. The tired detective pondered her situation a she walked home. She readied the key to her apartment as she walked up the stairway leading to the front door. To her surprise, the key did not work. She stepped back from the door and checked to see that she had the right key and then tried it again. She ring the doorbell, but there was no response. Her butler Archie should have been there. Then she noticed the engraving on her mailbox.
Christopher M. Martin
“The Sportsmaster!” she said with a gasp.

As Jason Hardwick slept he felt something tickle his moustache. For some reason he wasn’t able to move his arms and so the tickling continued until he burst out in laughter. When the dirt passed into his mouth it woke him up and his laughter turned to horror as he realized that he had been buried alive.
“Who did this to me?” he thought. “Don’t panic, Jason. Just think. There has got to be a way out of this.” He couldn’t remember fighting anyone, so surely it wasn’t the result of losing a battle. “Did someone ambush me in my sleep?”
He could feel ants crawling all over his body and something slimy that must have been a worm on his face. Jason knew that he had to do something immediately if he were to survive. First, he tried his hands and arms, but he was only able to move them slightly. Fortunately, he had much more success with his legs. He kicked as hard as he could and one of his legs broke through the ground surface. “So this grave is only shallow. I might have a chance.”
Jason’s heart filled with hope as he started rocking his body back and forth. After a couple of minutes he broke free and was safely out of his grave. He gasped for air and brushed ants off of himself in quick strokes. Jason breathed heavily as he sat on a log and looked around. He could feel the adrenaline pumping though his body as he scanned the hilly, forested area. Not having any clue as to where he was or how he arrived there, Jason began mentally review his day’s activities. “Let’s see…woke up late, choked down leftover pizza for breakfast…showered…man, I could use another shower! Went to the lab…got an assignment from GL to go to…”
Jason’s thoughts were interrupted by male voices in the distance.
“Whoever it is, they are nearby.” said one voice.
“We’ll be on them any moment now!” answered the other.
Jason’s eyes widened and his heart started palpitating as he heard a dog bark. He could feel the adrenaline rushing through his body.
“There he is! It’s a man in a blue and red costume!” said the first voice.
“GET HIM!” commanded the second.

Daniel Jordan couldn’t remember the details, but he knew that he had died. Something catastrophic had happened and now he was in the arms of an angel. Soon he would be with the God he loved and see His face. He was at peace with this…
…until he was awakened by the kiss of an angel.
Suddenly Daniel was overwhelmed with so many sensations. Dizziness overcame him. His vision was blurred. His head was throbbing and he could barely make out the face of the young lady holding him. “Is that you, Di Di?” he said gasping for breath.
“Daniel, we are falling! You have to do something NOW!” answered Sonic Boom.
“I…I can’t…think…” said Daniel in confusion as the two heroes dropped with an alarming speed towards the earth.
“Use your ring, Dan! Do it! NOW!” shouted Di Di Queen.
“Parachutes…” said Green Lantern. Green parachutes appeared on both heroes slowing their velocity.
“Its not enough, Dan!” yelled Sonic Boom from twenty feet away. “You have to do something or we are going to DIE!”
Daniel Jordan always had a difficult time thinking in high-pressure situations. This was the absolute worst case he had ever faced. His mind grasped for any idea he could come up with.
“Trees…foam…trampoline…”
Green Lantern Daniel Jordan’s ring produced his every request. Then he heard the sickening noise from nearby.
Swish! KRAK! Krak!
He had no time to process the sound before everything went black.
