Titans of Justice Unlimited #59 – “Titans Lost – Again Part 10”

The Hall of Evil(The Universe of Evil)…

The captive Titans of Justice began waking up, finding themselves strapped to the walls of a cylinder-shaped device. The Flash gasped slightly as he noticed three large blades in the center of the device.

“What the heck is this freaky contraption?” Black Vulcan griped, struggling to get free.





“It’s called the blender,” answered the evil Superman. “We’re going to grind you all up, mix you with some vanilla ice cream, and down the hatch you’ll go!





“Ain’t nobody got time for that!” hollered the daughter of Black Lightning, in defiance.

Power Guy was already in pain, having Kryptonite restraints on him. “Wh…..where’s Sargona?’ he mumbled, looking up at Green Lantern.





The emerald gladiator was still bleeding from the stump where his right hand used to be. He didn’t know what he should tell his long time friend about Sargona’s whereabouts, given she had disappeared without warning as the Super Fiends closed in on the two of them and Sonic Boom.

The blonde bombshell noticed her boyfriend’s hesitance to speak so she answered for him, “I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this PeeGee but she took off. Vanished into thin air right as those freaks out there won the battle. She’s betrayed us. Thinking only of herself.”





“No…..she wouldn’t do that,” countered Power Guy. “She must ha…….have a plan,” he struggled to say.

“Plan? What kind of plan could she have? She couldn’t possibly take down all of the Super Fiends by herself and she doesn’t know anyone on this earth. This is the first time she’s ever been here,” pointed out the daughter of Green Arrow and Black Canary, noticing that evil versions of Apache Chief, the Atom, Black Vulcan, Firestorm, the Flash Wally West, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Plastic Man, and Red Arrow had joined the other Super Fiends.

“As you can see, we made sure all of the Super Fiends are here for this special feast!” explained the evil Robin. “Once we find your sorceress friend, the blender gets started so take advantage of this time you have left to say your prayers or any attempted bargains you may have to offer us.”





Unbeknownst to the others, the Huntress was already working on an escape plan. Though she had been stripped of her utility-belt and crossbow, she had a knife-like device in one of the fingers of her right glove that she was using to saw away at her restraints. She was trying to think fast as even if she did get free in time, it was still eighteen against eight and Power Guy and Green Lantern were in bad shape. Luckily the Flash had whispered to her that his hyper-fast healing factor had just about mended the injuries he had suffered at the hands of the Super Fiends. Power Guy could be counted on to recover quickly once the Kryptonite was placed out of range. Sonic Boom was obviously riled up about Sargona, which meant she could use her anger as fighting-fuel. Black Vulcan always played the good soldier. Showing just enough initiative to make her a force to be reckoned with but never disrespecting command. Champion was all for this mission, knowing it may be the only way to help the unconscious Wonder Girl who was lying strapped to a table outside “the blender”, so she would surely fight to the last breath if they could just escape. The Sportsmaster had been fighting against the Super Fiends for years. There’s no way he would waste another opportunity to take them down. The daughter of the Batman and Catwoman then stared right into the Flash’s eyes and soundlessly said “Watch my right hand,” as she continued to file away at her restraint. Seconds later, she had freed her right arm but she pretended it was still restrained as she looked directly at Sonic Boom, who was on the opposite side of the blender as her, and silently mouthed “Distract them,” to her blonde teammate, in hopes of getting the Super Fiends to look as far away from her as possible.





Sonic Boom took the Huntress’s queue and began going off about how filthy and underhanded the Super Fiends were and how someday, someone would shut them down for good. While the evil versions of the Justice League argued with her, the Huntress threw her mini-saw to the Flash. The Scarlet Speedster wasted no time in using it to free himself. He then raced around “the blender” and released his teammates as the Universe of Evil Flash shouted, “The Flash! He’s free!” Before the Super Fiends could react, the son of Barry Allen used his vibrational powers to shatter the walls of the blender. He then raced around the room and gathered up his teammates weapons, returning them to their rightful owners.





“Oh look, you’ve escaped and gotten your weapons back,” smiled the evil Wonder Woman, sadistically. “No matter, you’re still severely outnumbered and the odds of winning in this universe are still on the side of evil! All you’ve done is subject yourselves to another vicious beat-down!”





“Wait just a minute ,” came a familiar voice from behind the Super Fiends.

The villains and heroes present turned to see Sargona stepping through a portal with the Syndicate of Terror behind her. The Titans of Justice’s sworn enemies from Earth 3, known as Mega Guy, Preditress, the Oppressor, Power Ring, Johnny Quick, Corporal Terror along with his pet lion known as Speaky Speaks, Caniballa, and Synthetica.

The evil Robin walked towards the Syndicate as he said, “Mega Guy – you’re a bit early for our annual team-up.”

“Well, we wanted to return this prisoner to you. She showed up on our world a few hours ago and began begging us to help her take you down.”





“Ha! You should have known better you stupid tramp!” scowled Robin, looking directly at Sargona.

“Actually, I did, which is why I made a deal with them!” revealed the raven-haired beauty.





Robin and the other Super Fiends felt a sense of panic coming over them as the Syndicate of Terror and the Titans of Justice attacked them in unison.

While the Syndicate and the Super Fiends had been talking, the Flash had slipped out, ran to the Amazon jungle where part of his team had arrived in the Universe of Evil, retrieved Green Lantern’s lantern, and presented it to him. “Thought you could use this,” he smiled.





“Boy, could I ever,” smiled the pastor as he began reciting his oath, “In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might, beware my power, Green Lantern’s light!” With his ring fully charged, Daniel Jordan created another energy-hand over the stump where Samurai had dismembered him. He was now ready to fight!





The evil Green Lantern had seen Daniel charging up and flew over to him to confront him, “You know, you could have been my son!”





“Thankfully, I am not!” countered Daniel Jordan as he angrily made an emerald energy wall which slammed into his father’s evil counterpart, knocking him across the room. He then heard a sickeningly familiar voice from behind him, “It seems that I will have to take your other hand as well!”





It was Samurai, back with bloodshed on his mind.

“You are a sick man!” declared Green Lantern as he armed himself with a green sword and shield. The two gladiators began clashing swords, neither one letting up.

“I make you an offer, bald one. Give me your ring now and I will let you keep your other hand until you die!”

“I kindly decline your offer!” Green Lantern replied, sarcastically. “Neither of those events will be happening today! Suddenly his green shield morphed into a tyrannosaurus rex which swallowed Samurai whole. A few seconds later, the dinosaur disappeared as Samurai plunged to the ground unconscious.

As Power Guy flew passed Mega Guy, he remarked, “I never thought I’d see the day we’d be fighting together!” He then slammed into the evil Superman, punching away.

As Mega Guy watched the two Kryptonians fight, he whispered, “Wait until you find out the details….” He then pulverized the evil Apache Chief who was towering over him.





“Your reign of terror ends today!” proclaimed Power Guy as his right fist collided with Superman’s jaw, knocking him out of the air. As Superman’s body fell downward, Power Guy caught up with him and kept punching away, driving his enemy into the Hall of Evil’s floor until the one time visitor to the Universe of Good was knocked out. As Power Guy concluded his battle, he noticed the Huntress was taking on the evil Robin.

“We’ve subjugated this world for over a decade! There’s no way we’re giving that up today!” Robin screamed, determined as could be. Time moved slower in the Universe of Evil so he was still in his prime.

“You won’t be giving that up. We’ll be taking it from you!” spat the Huntress as her well-timed karate chop cracked one of the Boy Wonder’s ribs.

“Acckkk!!!” grumbled Robin, in pain. “You’ve got a vicious streak in you. Why not join us and embrace it?” he said, trying to get back the advantage for his team.

“You’re delusional. Being vicious and being effective are two very different things. You and your thugs won’t go down easy but still, I’m not willing to kill you,” argued the Huntress as she dodged a punch from the leader of the Super Fiends. “At the same time, don’t mistake my morality for a sign of weakness!” she said as she drop-kicked Robin in the face which sent him crashing into the Super Fiends’ meeting table, sending him off to dreamland.

Meanwhile, Sonic Boom had taken down Batman with a combination of her Sonic Scream and martial arts skills. Di Di Queen’s body was drenched in sweat, having fought one of the toughest battles of her life. She looked over at the Huntress in relief, knowing she had spared her best friend the horror of having to take down a doppelganger of her own father.





Across the room, Champion had become entangled in the evil Wonder Woman’s blue Lasso of Coercion. The evil Amazon then made her demands, “While I can’t get to the Belt of Beauty while Wonder Girl is trapped in this Silver Swan Form, I see that you are wearing the Magic Girdle from your universe. Hand it over so that I may reclaim my youth!”

Bound by the lasso, Champion had no use but to obey. The evil Wonder Woman put on the belt without hesitation but to her horror, it instantly aged her further, transforming her into the equivalent of a frail, eighty year old woman. She looked in a nearby mirror and shrieked in horror, “NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!”

“Hmm…..I guess that’s one other difference between our two universes. I don’t rely on my girdle for my appearance where as you are so dependent on yours that you let it control you.” With that, Champion backhanded the evil Wonder Woman into a state of sleep.





Sargona was in the midst of fighting the evil Lilith. She noticed that the Syndicate of Terror was keeping their word to help the Titans of Justice. The Oppressor had neutralized Aquaman. Johnny Quick had made short work of the Atom. Power Ring took down the evil Black Vulcan. Corporal Terror and Speaky Speaks wasted no time in putting down Hawkwoman and Hawkboy. Preditress was quick and efficient in besting Cyborg. Synthetica used her sound powers to play havoc with Firestorm’s equilibrium, leaving him a drooling mess on the floor. Sargona’s eyes grew wide as she saw that Caniballa had taken down the evil Rima and was licking her lips. The daughter of Sargon the Sorcerer and Zatanna knew what the daughter of the evil Vixen had in mind and shouted out, “Caniballa – no eating the Super Fiends! You promised!”


 

 

 

  

 

 




The flesh-eating villainess dropped the limp body of Rima in disappointment and then pounced on Red Arrow in hopes of getting her mind off the delicious looking Brazilian.

Lilith started screaming at Sargona as the two grappled with each other, “This is all your fault! You’re cheating by using evil against evil!”





“I call it being a smart tactician!” countered the wielder of the Ruby of Life. “You know how this is going to end. Why don’t you surrender now and save yourself a world of pain?”

“My precognition seems to be clouded. No doubt the work of your stupid jewel!” howled the woman otherwise known as the Dark Omen. “Until you take me down, I will do everything I can to beat you to a pulp and then have my way with you!”

“Sorry, sister, but I don’t swing that way and even if I did, your breath smells like death so you’d still be automatically disqualified from the selection pool!” Suddenly, Sargon’s gem lit up and fired a crimson blast at the vampire-gypsy, rendering her inert. “I should have thought of that ten minutes ago. Being a member of the undead, a blast from my Ruby of Life was a sure-win against her.”

As the final battle against the Super Fiends concluded, the heroic Sportsmaster dragged Dark Omen’s body and threw it into the Hall of Evil’s detention cell as the Flash threw in the unconscious body of his evil namesake. “That’s all of them including that little booger, Gleek, who I personally took down a few minutes ago,” revealed the Sportsmaster.





“Finally, it’s over,” sighed the Fasted Man Alive.

“Now, we just need to find Ares and get him to help Druscilla,” reminded Champion.

“There will be no need for that,” came a booming male voice. The Titans of Justice and the Syndicate of Terror looked up to see the good version of Ares hovering above them. “I am proud of you, Titans of Justice. You thought outside the box and used a creative solution to take down the Super Fiends,” said the Prince of Peace as he looked directly at Sargona. All of the Titans were curious as to how Sargona had persuaded the Syndicate of Terror to help them but now wasn’t the time for discussing it. “As promised, I will restore Druscilla Troy back to normal! With a quick gesture, the new Silver Swan was returned to her Wonder Girl form, free of the evil Ares’ spell. She began to awake and noticed everyone standing around her and asked, “Ummm……guys, what’s going on?”





Champion knelt down beside Wonder Girl and explained all that had happened. Once she was done, Ares spoke up again, “Druscilla, when your friends came to me for help, they told me how kind, yet courageous you are. I am hoping you will stay here and be my new champion of peace and protect this world from whatever evil arises. Wonder Girl thought long and hard for a few minutes and said, “I happily accept your offer, Ares. I was selfish to run away to the Universe of Good when this universe needs me so much. Thanks to the Titans of Justice, I have learned a great deal and gained the experience I’ll need to help keep order on this earth.”





The Sportsmaster then chimed in, “You’re welcome to help me rebuild the Legion of Hope. After you left, the Super Fiends hunted us down and forced many of us into hiding but with your help, we can start over.”

“I would be more than happy to help,” smiled the young Amazon.

“I am thrilled to hear of this new endeavor of justice,” announced Ares. “I will be watching and providing assistance when necessary.” He then vanished into a puff of smoke.

Power Guy wasted no time in asking his girlfriend, “Alright, Sargona, what’s up with the Syndicate being here.”

While the members of the Syndicate of Terror remained silent, they all produced a sickening grin on their faces.

Sargona’s relief that her friends were safe and victorious quickly turned into a river of sorrow as she began to cry and explained, “When the Super Fiends were getting the best of us, I created a portal to Earth 3. I went and made a deal with the Syndicate for their help in defeating the Super Fiends as I knew that evil had an advantage in this universe. I figured the only way to stop the evil was to use another form of evil against it.”

“Good plan but what did you give them in return?” asked the Huntress, suspiciously.

“I…..I…….” Sargona began crying even harder, “I said I would go back to Earth 3 with them and take the place of their fallen member, Satanna. I won’t be harming anyone but I will be providing mystical assistance and protection to them.”

“And how long do you have to stay there?” asked Power Guy angrily.

“Until she dies,” smirked Mega Guy.

“NO!” bellowed Power Guy. “There’s no way she’s going back with the likes of you! I will fight you all to my dying breath if I have to!”

Sargona pulled Power Guy close to her and said, “Vince….please…..I gave my word. It was the only way to save you all.”

“And if you or any of your buddies try any funny business, we’ll release the Super Fiends and help them kill you all immediately,” threatened Preditress.

“Now, we’ll give you two love-birds a minute to say goodbye and then we’ll be going,” instructed Mega Guy.

Power Guy and Sargona stepped away from the crowd to talk privately,

“Why……why would you do this?” asked the Man of Might, tears welling up in his eyes.

“Because I love you,” answered the raven-haired beauty. “It was the only way to keep you safe. You would have done the same thing.”

“I knew I shouldn’t have let you come along here,” Power Guy said, shaking his head back and forth.

“We don’t have much time left so let’s not waste it arguing,” offered Sargona. “I want you to know that you have changed me for the better. You turned a pretentious, catty little girl into the woman I now am. I never told you this but I’ve never been happier with anyone else. You are my rock. Thinking of you and your sweet face is what will get me through the years ahead. I don’t want you to wait for me or think that I’m coming back because I can’t. I want you to find someone to make you as happy as you’ve made me. Promise me that you will?”

Power Guy tried to reply but sadness took his voice as he pulled Sargona close to him.

Seconds letter the couple began walking towards their teammates. Champion, the Flash, the Huntress, and Wonder Girl all said their goodbyes to the sorceress.

Black Vulcan was next, “Girl, I don’t think you know what you’ve gotten yourself into. “I’ll tell Jerrica and Venus you said goodbye,” she said as she hugged Sargona.

“Thanks, Thunderdog,” Sargona said as she hugged her close friend.

Green Lantern then approached his ex-girlfriend. “Esmeralda, you have made a very brave choice today. I want you to know that I’m glad that we’ve remained friends after our break-up. You will be in my prayers every night until you return to us.”

“Dan, that’s not going to happen,” frowned Sargona.

“The Lord has pulled off greater miracles. You just wait and see!” Green Lantern said, trying offer hope.

Sonic Boom then spoke up, “I’m not going to pretend that we’ve always been the best of friends but I want you to know that I’m sorry for the way I’ve treated you all of these years. I guess it was insecurity or something like that but nonetheless, I apologize. You’ve got more courage in your little finger than I have in my entire body. I now know why Dan thinks so highly of you. When you come back to us, I hope we can put the past behind us and be friends for the first time?”

“Thank you Di Di,” Sargona said with a half-smile, still crying. “That means a lot coming from you and I’m sorry too. Dan is lucky to have you in his life.”

Power Guy then hugged Sargona one last time and then the two kissed passionately for a few seconds.

“Goodbye, my love,” Sargona said, cupping Power Guy’s cheek. As she stepped towards the Syndicate of Terror, Power Guy looked directly at the Syndicate with his Heat-Vision lighting up his eyes and yelled, “Don’t any of you dare show your faces on Earths 1 or 2!!!”

“Oh, don’t worry, we have other things to keep us busy,” replied Mega Guy as he and his team stepped through a portal to Earth 3.

Soon after the Syndicate departed, Power Guy was a wreck. Anger and sadness had consumed him.

Black Vulcan surveyed the group and asked, “So now that our work is done here, how are we going to get home?”

“I can help you with that!” answered the Sportsmaster. “When you guys went home the last time, I was able to capture some energy from your universe and build a device that can create a portal to it. I actually have it in my pocket as I was about to use it to travel to your earth and ask for your help when the Super Fiends captured me.” He pulled the device from his pocked and activated it.

“Thank you Sportsmaster,” nodded the Huntress as she shook his hand.

“This is so cool! We can use this device to keep in touch!” smiled Wonder Girl. “Champion, please tell Scotty, Jerrica, and Donna that I said goodbye for now. Oh, and can someone please give this note to Power Lad for me?”

“I will, sister,” smiled Champion as a few tears dripped from her eyes.

The Titans of Justice then made their way through the portal…
