Really wonderful images posted, everyone. Here's his cover work for Phantom Eagle, one of his favorite characters.

I've loved that Phantom Eagle story since the day I bought it off the stands. I think back on all the hours I spent drawing biplanes as a direct result of this comics and smile.

I was always a fan of his artwork. In a way it's too bad that he stayed on the Hulk so long: it would have been great to see him have a solid run on some other series. He really should have been given a crack at the FF, or maybe Thor, for example: the Kirbyesque flavour of his style would have been an interesting match with those characters. I also would have liked to see him work with Steve Gerber on something - I think their styles would have meshed because I always found Trimpe good at quiet moments where characters are interacting in conversation. etc, and those were often some of the best moments in Gerber's stories.

Really wonderful images posted, everyone. Here's his cover work for Phantom Eagle, one of his favorite characters. Just about to go searching for this to post it. I loved this story and will always be grateful to Herb Trimpe, who seemed to be one of the best human beings in comics. I know he was an Episcopal deacon, but he was, by all accounts, a true mensch...
