Relentlessly grim, brooding, dark... this looks terrible. I cannot think of a better way to say it.
I am amazed. I am such a big and loyal DC fan, though I admit that I also buy some Dynamite Entertainment stuff. I have never cared all that much for Marvel Comics. But when it comes to Movies? Make mine Marvel.
I can't believe I said that.

Me too ... it's too dark, grim, and downright gloomy of a trailer and I'm terribly disappointed in this movie trailer Earth 2 Flash and I will see it and come away with a sad note.

I just want to see a DC movie where everyone is not gritting their teeth for the entire thing. WB needs to unclench and have fun with their movies.

I saw a pretty good Superman movie last year... it was called Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
It's a sad day for DC when Captain America is a better Superman than Superman.

There was nothing wrong with the Green Lantern movie that a better script, better direction, better acting and better SFX couldn't have cured. Cei-U! I summon the mini-review!

I liked Green Lantern for the most part. My biggest gripe was that there was too much humor involved with Hal Jordan. If they had portrayed Hal as a little bit more serious, I think it would have been received better.

My issue is not with dark films per se, or that the DC films have to be funny or like the Marvel films. It's that DC/Warner has insisted on making dark, gritty, and "realistic" Superman films that suck out all the fun and wonder of what Superman (at least in my mind) is supposed to be about. They are trying to fit a round Superman peg into the square Batman hole. It's an issue of what's appropriate for the character. Daredevil, Batman, Hulk... yes, those characters are dark and conflicted, and there's an appropriateness for making films with that tone for them. To me, Superman is not a soldier, not a vigilante, not an avenger -- he's a benevolent protector. I had a conversation with Mark Waid last year at a convention about Man of Steel, which we both didn't care for. As he signed my copy of Superman Birthright, I mentioned to him that my favorite panel from the book was this one, which sums up how I think Superman should be depicted: It also doesn't help that BvS is taking a lot of cues from what I consider to be the most overrated Batman story ever, or that central to its plot is the tired notion of Batman taking on Superman in a fight.

This is a little better.

As a Superman fanboy I'll see this and JL, but I honestly don't know if I'll see the other DC films (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, GL, Suicide Squad...) in the theater. I'll probably see at least most of them if Supes/Bats is better than MoS, but it's not a sure thing. I can't believe I'm saying that, but there it is. Meanwhile I am so in opening weekend for Avengers...Ant Man, Dr. Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Inhumans, GotG 2...Marvel movies are just so much more fun. Patton Oswald said it best in a Youtube video: DC movies are 1 big brood-off between DC heroes.

Very intersting essay on the differences in impression the Star Wars trailer made on the general public vs. the impression the SvB trailer made... BC articleand the impact those first impressions may have made on the initial box office those movies will get.... Could all be malarkey, but if you look historically at what kind of movies have had big box office takes early they are all movies that offer something fun and upbeat to a wide range of potential moviegoers. If he's right, DC could be shooting themselves and their movie aspirations in the foot with this dark tone on the first teaser trailer. -M

"Tell me...do you bleed?"
"You will."
That has got to be some of the most 90's-Image Comics, faux badass dialogue I have ever seen put in film.
