Neal Adams reveals that it is even worse than you may think. linkGlad Neal's onboard. He may be instrumental in creating change, once again.

While I agree with Neal's sentiments about what needs to be done, I have to say that was a terribly written piece by him.

I think Neal could have made his point clearer. While he has good points about the "work-for-hire" situations at DC and Marvel, he could have been less meandering. A more clearly-written essay would make things make more sense to people who have no clue about the comics industry.

He should have a drawn a strip explaining it instead.

I have a feeling that was an email he sent in response to a question about Gerry Conway's essay.

He should have a drawn a strip explaining it instead. If you have read anything he has written or drawn in the last 10 years you would know it would have been just as meandering and confusing as the essay-see Batman Odyssey or Firs tX-men or whatever that mini was he did for Marvel a couple of years back.... -M

While it wasn't the best written thing I've ever read, I had no trouble following it or understanding the message. I particularly like the second paragraph about Marvel and DC never having created anything. Right on, Neal. I might make that my new sig.

That letter doesn't actually say anything.

That letter doesn't actually say anything. These types of letter never do.

I'm really not interested in DC's corporate spin and I'm sure those with an actual stake in this game feel the same. DC should shut up with the PR's stunts and get down to the business of honoring their agreements. We already know that they know who created what, if just to cover their asses legally, so they should reorder their house and staff a small group of people to keep track of this stuff. It's not non-employee's like Conway's responsibility to keep track of this sort of thing and it's insulting that the original missive from DC stated just that.

I wouldn't trust Dan Didio if he told me the sun would rise in the East tomorrow.

Gerry Conway has issued a public apology to the DC brass... CBR storyhmm I wonder if this means we will be seeing new DC work from Conway or more collections of his classic work being published to provide him with royalties.... -M to steal from Cei-U, I summon the deep cynicism....
