In celebration of our community's first year, and in memory of our beloved missing comrade, Jim Zimmerman (known to most as "Captain Jim"), a small team of dedicated members and staff have been working over the months to bring you this first annual Jamie Awards. How it works:A total of ten categories will honor members and threads for their contributions to the community between April 30th, 2014 at 9:22pm EST (when our first ever post was made) and April 30, 2015 at 9:21pm EST (tonight, one year later). One week from today (May 7), two categories will be opened up for nominations. For each category, members will be invited to nominate (not vote upon) one person and thread, including a detailed explanation justifying their choices. Every three days, two new categories will be opened for nomination, and the previous two closed. Voting will then begin on Monday, May 25th (U.S. Memorial Day) and will close on June 1st at 11:59pm EST. The Schedule:May 7-9Best Contest/Game Thread The Professor X Award: Best discussion starter May 10-12Best Modern Comic Thread Brother Power the Geek Award: Funniest poster May 13-15Best Non-Comics Thread The Krypto Award: Friendliest Poster May16-18Best Review Thread Uatu award: Most knowledgeable poster May 19-21Best Classic Comic Thread The Captain Jim Zimmerman Award for best overall poster who most exemplifies the spirit of the CCF (shaxper is exempt -- no brown nosing) (A 2014 Captain Jim Zimmerman Award will also be retroactively awarded to Jim Zimmerman by selection of the Jamie Award Committee) May 25-June 1Voting! So now is the time to start trekking through old threads, rekindling old memories, and making some tentative decisions Special Thanks:A special thanks to the members and staff who have been actively participating in the creation, development, and design of the Jamie Awards since all the way back in September. Sounds very cool and I love that it's named after Jim "Captain Jim" Zimmerman.
The man was suave and sophisticated and a role model of a moderator.
It was shocking when he passed away. The community had lost a good friend.

If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve!

If elected, I will not serve! And this makes you different from 90% of elected officials how?

Incredible to think how long I've "known" Captain Jim, whom I first met on CBG's CrossGen forum before meeting you fine folks on their classic comics forum. It's great that he has an award named after him. He could always be counted on to speak up whenever a discussion on ducks (Rosa & Barks) popped up.
He'll be missed greatly.
