A WARNING...This is the most dangerous topic at the CCF, and I do not say this lightly. More members have been disciplined, banned, or been left so offended/alienated that they have felt the need to leave the community as a result of this thread than of any other here. Friends have turned to enemies here, and things routinely get ugly because otherwise respectful and friendly members often lose their heads when discussing politics. So why does this thread still exist? Simple. By giving political discussion its own thread, we minimize its likelihood of spilling into other discussion threads here. Thus, those who want to avoid politics can, those who insist upon discussing it have one specific place to do so, and the moderators can more easily monitor that discussion for problems if it all exists in one place. The CCF staff would love to delete this thread and shut down this discussion at this point, but we recognize that some members need to discuss it. Thus, we ask you to seriously consider whether you truly want to participate in this discussion. If you choose to do so, tread carefully. You are subject to the community's Rules of the Road, and you will be disciplined if you violate them. I'm not a registered voter, but in talking to my wife over the years she says I mostly agree with republican views ... So .... Am I the only republican that liked Bill?
As far as the question, I'm not sure I know enough about her via the media so I guess she keeps her nose clean. I rarely seek out political views of people on my own.

No, you're not. Hillary Clinton, like her husband, is entirely too cozy with the buccaneers of Wall Street and other corporate interests to ever merit my trust. I'll vote for her if it means keeping a Republican out of the White House but there won't be any enthusiasm or optimism behind that vote. I'd like to believe Bernie Sanders can win and I'll support him as best I can but I was a John Dean campaign worker in 2004 so I'm none too hopeful Sanders can get past the big money interests and their puppets within the party and mainstream media who detest and fear any suggestion of genuine progressivism.

No, you're not. Hillary Clinton, like her husband, is entirely too cozy with the buccaneers of Wall Street and other corporate interests to ever merit my trust. I'll vote for her if it means keeping a Republican out of the White House but there won't be any enthusiasm or optimism behind that vote. I'd like to believe Bernie Sanders can win and I'll support him as best I can but I was a John Dean campaign worker in 2004 so I'm none too hopeful Sanders can get past the big money interests and their puppets within the party and mainstream media who detest and fear any suggestion of genuine progressivism. Cei-U! I summon the anxiety! This is basically how I feel. It's stunning to me when Republicans accuse of progressives of engaging in class warfare. Class warfare has been going on for quite a while, but it's really the wealthy kicking the crap out of everyone else. The wealthy aren't increasingly under fire; rather, their increasingly concentrating wealth. The GOP runs a very good marketing strategy to make people vote against their economic self-interests. Some Democrats go with the flow a bit, rather than challenging a Reagan era narrative that's getting increasingly ingrained. I don't trust Hillary to fix systematic problems that are harming the country, but I think the Republican alternatives would be significantly worse. Like previous posters, I'd like to see Bernie win the nomination. I should send him a few bucks. |

I don't hate Hillary, but a few things have left a bitter taste in my mouth with her, the most recent being the e-mail thing.
I love Bernie Sanders and will support him, though I don't think he has a chance, though to be fair, I didn't think Barack would truly get the nomination either so what do I know ?
Jeb Bush is one of the rare Republicans I could maybe vote for, so I'm not writing him off yet, just waiting to see how he builds his campaign.

I don't think Bernie Sanders has a chance, unfortunately. I don't even think he'll really affect the platform. But I do hope that he stays in long enough for his message and ideas to get out. I agree with most everything he says, and I think he's a breath of fresh air - he's a real "maverick" who, unlike those who tried to claim that title in the past, is actually unbeholden to any party. Watching McCain shrivel up and wither away into a shell of himself after he got the GOP nomination in 2008 and started kowtowing to party politics was disheartening. I don't think that's going to happen with Sanders. He seems like he has the courage of his convictions, and he'll stick with it even if that makes him unelectable, which it likely will.
For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of Hillary either, though I will vote for her over any of the clowns the GOP has trotted out so far. It's incredible to me the people they put forward as "leaders" - it's been an endless stream of empty suits and total sock puppets pandering to the lowest common denominator for the last 20 years. What I wouldn't give to have a real candidate like Bob Dole again. That was the last time I considered voting Republican, and the way things are going, I doubt I'll ever have to bother considering it again.

I honestly know nothing about Jeb beyond his family affiliation, the place of privilege he comes from, and his role in the 2000 election scandal. In short, I have some pretty good reasons to not trust the guy any farther than I can throw him, but I suppose he still has the potential to surprise me. |

I would have definitely suported Elizabeth Warren if she'd run. She's run some really nasty attack ads here in MA that have pretty much turned me off of her for a good while. |
