O'Reilly and Morgan actually are journalists. They don't act like ones anymore, but they used to and knew what it represents.
On the other hand, Sean Hannity certainly isn't one, though, that's for sure : he has to the better of my knowledge never graduated from any college, and never even studied journalism or any related field.

I would contend that O'Reilly has forfeited his right to call himself a journalist. I absolutely agree with Ted Koppel.
Note...that O'Reilly refers to himself as a commentator a couple of times. I think he absolutely understands what he's doing. The problem is that his fans don't understand the difference...or choose not too.

The New York Times welcomes their newest journalist... Interesting how you would completely avoid context and repercussions... She explained herself quite thoroughly, was consistant that this was satire and an experiment at counter-trolling, after being the recipient of of torrent of online hate for being a woman of color, and with political views : I wonder why you left that out...

Sure as hell doesn’t sound like satire to me. So people can just say despicable sh*t like this, turn around and say it’s “satirical” (even though it’s not) and all is immediately forgiven? Okay then...

I would contend that O'Reilly has forfeited his right to call himself a journalist. I absolutely agree with Ted Koppel. Oh, that is for certain. Yet, he started out as a journalist, and knows the thought process. He was one for years, even if a bad one. At one point, he simply had to give in that his own paradigm had shifted towards editorialism. But if we're being honest, that problem has existed since media exists. Medias constantly are under the threat of manipulation. But what we have now (Piers Morgan) is morbid devil's advocate, who after having lost a lot of credibility become agents of chaos on morning shows, never backing off from eroneous or disingenious statements, in a fashion we had never seen in past history : you invite opposing voices so you can claim of being impartial, but you put words in their mouths in front of them, despite their protest, before going into a commercial break...

Okay then... "Are white peopel genetically predisposed to burn faster in the sun, thus logically being fit to libe underground like groveling goblins" doesn't sound like satire to you??? Look at the dates of the hatefull tweets she was on the recieving end of, and the ones you linked the compilation of. (And if that wasn't clue enough, just look at who liked her tweets : mostly white males, who are in on the concept of satire ) If you don't see the corelation, that's on you. It may have been a bad idea, but if you truely believe that those tweets are her actual opinions, that just shows you chose to ignore her whole body of work in favor of a hit piece.

That’s about the only one that sounds satirical. Change “white” to “black”, “gay”, “Muslim”, etc and would you still be touting these tweets as mere satire? Doubtful

She's just not being PC and telling it like it is. I thought the right was supposed to be all about that.

Okay then... You mustn't be familiar with Swift's "Modest Proposal." It's called satire. Remember, according to his lawyer, Alex Jones is a "performance artist" who's not meant to be taken seriously... because it's satire. www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/04/17/trump-called-alex-jones-amazing-joness-own-lawyer-calls-him-a-performance-artist/?utm_term=.61d7c3fbb31a Of course, this may be fake news. Must check with Qanon for verification.

Change “white” to “black”, “gay”, “Muslim”, etc and would you still be touting these tweets as mere satire? That's her point. Some white people feel entitled to say exactly those things about blacks, gays, Muslims etc. and they mean it. She was trying to show them how bad their statements look. So, out of context, it looks like she's just saying awful things. In context, it was a satirical technique that didn't work well.

For the record, Piers Moron is a dispicable, lying piece of s**t who, when he was editor of the Daily Mirror, put British troops' lives at risk in 2004, by falsifying reports of the torture of Iraqi prisoners by British soldiers, complete with false photographs. He was sacked from the paper for that.
On top of that, this scumbag was also complicit in the Milly Dowler phone hacking scandal in 2011, which, if you don't know, was the hacking of a murdered schoolgirl's phone by journalists at the News of the World, of which Moron was the editor at the time. The Leveson Inquiry, a public judicial inquiry here in the UK, found that it was beyond doubt that Moron was aware of the phone hacking, even though he claims that he was not involved. He was however caught on covert camera explaining how to illegally hack into people's phones though by Channel 4. He was sacked from the News of the World for us role in the hacking scandal.
So, yes, technically Mr. Moron is or was a journalist. But he's an awful piece of human detritus first and foremost. Why this @%#$ hasn't done time in jail is quite beyond me and most of the rest of the British public.

People don't respond well to 'satire'(even well-written satire, like Jonathan Swift's 'A Modest Proposal') if they can't immediately tell its humorous. Any thing beyond the 'safe edginess' of 'Mad' could be a problem for somebody. Whoever this New York Times reporter is, there really are wingnuts out there who go that far off the deep end. Her work succeeded in that it didn't appear to be written by a credible journalist. It went overboard in sounding too much like something that would come from the 'lunatic fringe'.

I found the discussion of this elsewhere, and while I haven't confirmed it, it was stated that these tweets spanned over 4 years. If true, that seems like a long time to "troll" people.
Not that I can understand her state of mind, per say, with the harassment she faced and that she reacted this way. But I have myself in my past just by association with people of another race been harrassed. And that wasn't on the internet.
That's just my two cents for what it's worth.
Now I am going listen to War ironically sing "Why Can't We Be Friends"

A longtime friend has started referring to his own country as The United States Of Fubar.
I witnessed an early moment in the unfolding story of 'infotainment' and what i call 'manufacturing outrage' back when Rush Limbaugh had a show on tv for the first time. He sat in front of a wall of his own book (meaninglessley festooned in stars and stripes) thundering about lying 'feminosities', and about how the Clintons were hiding dead bodies, while along the bottom of the screen it read 'America Held Hostage Day #___'. I have to admit I actually thought one moment was genuinely clever; he leaned forward for effect and self-righteously ranted "Why there's more trees in the U.S.A. today than when the country was founded!" I vow on my X-Men #101, I actually caught the sly twist to that particular 'those environazis are lying to us' rant of his on the first pitch, and it told me pretty much all I've needed to know about this particular 'infotainer' and most others of the kind right or left (Michael Moore included). I figured this show like a lot of the slanted talk-radio shows was just not for me so never bothered to tune in again, but I hoped that ideally even if someone shared that theatrical blame and outrage they'd at least be aware of the half truths and missing infomration. Possibly I was overly optimistic in that? I did ask around about this peculiar show and found out that even the democrats ahs earlier agreed to pull some of the regulatory teeth out of the FCC that used to prevent such slanted programming from being broadcast. Whoops! I think it's pretty obvious that such protections were and are needed, and not just on Facebook. Either that or the saucermen will come and bathe us in some long overdue evolvo-rays, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.
I've told this story many times over the years, but if anyone still needs it explained; there are more trees in the U.S. now than when the country was founded because there were only thirteen states when the country was founded. Just adding Alaska would probably give the U.S. more trees! This is the epitome of 'manufacturing outrage' with half-truths and deliberately removing context. And so... here we are!

Name-calling is something people have got to learn to not lower themselves to. There is no progress possible really otherwise I don't think. If you are against that alone that would be a start. It's something I have to keep in mind; I know how easy and how it feels to do. I can't back anybody who let's themselves indulge in that way no matter any good intentions. We loose civility and we loose a foundation of civilization.
