This trade deficit is bad, and Trump is to blame. How is the current one bad and how is it Trump's fault? We've had a massive trade deficit with China since even Bush Jr. Impulse's link headline is misleading. The trade deficit IS at a 10 year high under Trump. That's not misleading, and that is the article headline, not mine. Also, Trump has spoken quite a bit at winning trade wars to decrease the deficit, so at a minimum he is failing thus far at his stated goal. While "the economy" is doing well if you're one of the wealthy business owners, costs are rising and wages are stagnating for most regular working folks. Also, see the follow up article I posted showing the economic Trump bump is about to plummet due to increasing uncertainty of things, not the least of which is the trade dispute. So yeah, this is not necessarily a good trade deficit, and Trump's policies certainly seem to be impacting it according to many experts. Also, where have you been? People have been lamenting how much more indebted to and dependent upon China we have become for yearrrssssss.

House votes for Mueller report to be made publicI highly doubt McConnell will take a vote in the Senate, but 420-0 vote in the House is pretty strong at least as a statement to demonstrate they want the truth put out there. At least one chamber of Congress is expressing interest in the truth. I just want the complete, un-messed-with report to come out so the whole thing can be put to rest. Whatever it is, let the facts just be the facts.

kind of shocked that our toddler in Chief spent the whole weekend throwing a temper-tantrum, and no comments here?
not even after 'Unka Lindsay said such nice things about the child who said very untruthful things about his dead best friend.

For me, it's basically just "another day that ends in 'y'". I honestly think I've just become so desensitized to his insane and childish behavior that it doesn't raise any outrage from me anymore. This is who he is, this is how he acts, and to expect anything mature or presidential from him at this point, based on his track record, is nothing more than delusional wishing on my part. The scorpion stings. Why? Because that's what it does. POTUS Donald J. Trump throws temper tantrums at SNL, dead Senators, and FAKE NEWS MEDIA, and fails to lead the USA in an adult manner. Why? Because that's what he does, and for us to think he'll change his actions after an entire life of behaving this way is our folly, not his.

Agreed, though I suppose we should be concerned that it is so normalized we are basically unphased. Oh, well!

Agreed, though I suppose we should be concerned that it is so normalized we are basically unphased. Oh, well! Your point is spot-on, because if this has become "the new normal" in US politics, how bad is the next person going to have to be to raise any kind of response? Anyone who is seen as less offensive than Trump will be viewed as a godsend, even if they are on the border of being as bad as him. People are already pining wistfully for the halcyon days of GWB, when they couldn't wait to be rid of him when he was in office. Trump is a Warren Harding, Andrew Johnson, or Franklin Pierce-level mistake of a presidency, but just because we're completely screwed currently doesn't mean we should be looking fondly back to a time when we were only mostly-screwed, nor should we be hoping for a future of only being slightly-less-screwed than we are now.

Democratic primaries are going to be nuts. I've got my money on O'Rourke for now.

I said among friends, and on FB:
I'm totally all in for Biden/Beto ticket
but would also be fine with Beto/Harris (or vice versa, but think it's a stronger ticket with Harris as VP)

I said among friends, and on FB: I'm totally all in for Biden/Beto ticket but would also be fine with Beto/Harris (or vice versa, but think it's a stronger ticket with Harris as VP) I think if the candidate for President is a man, the VP candidate will almost certainly be a woman. Otherwise, the progressives will see it as just more business as usual. I could live with a Biden/Klobuchar ticket, but I'm far more centrist than most around here. O'Rourke is a lightweight flash-in-the-pan, and I don't want folks like Harris, Gillibrand, Sanders, or Warren anywhere near the WH (too far radical for my tastes).

I get that Sanders/Warren etc, are more progressive than you care for, but calling them radical is a total misnomer. They are not radical in terms of American history within the last 100 years and absolutely not radical at all from a global perspective. It might not seem like a big deal to you, but loaded words like that overcharge the dialogue and make it harder to have real discussions.
At this point after Trump & Pence's admin and the horrible things the GOP Congress has at best enabled and at worst helped bring about, out of the current batch of Dem's I will vote for whichever of them has a pulse and wins the primary. That said, I am NOT thrilled about O'Rourke or Biden. Beto is far too centrist for me. As said in the past, great Dem for Texas, not for the US. Biden would have been good in 2016 I think, but the pendulum has swung far too far the other way the last 2 year IMO.
I like how Harris handled herself during the Congressional hearings, but she is an empty suit so far re: policy that I've seen. I'd like to see Warren or Sanders on the ticket in some form. I think Warren would be a great VP.
It's too early for me to really have a solidly formed opinion. I imagine the numbers will drop off pretty quickly once the primary season picks up.
