So why was it that Jonah shut down Classic's? It was the one place where good manners ruled. Honestly I was rather surprised. Nobody knows. A couple guesses got floated in the meanwhile thread. My guess is that Jonah is trying to avoid creating subcommunities this time. He wants everybody in all boards. For example, they have forced all the chat threads, X-Cres etc., into Community. And Classics was a place mostly disjoint from the rest of the boards. MWGallaher notes the board probably does little for the bottom line, in terms of ad revenue or attracting posters. |

You know, if this ends up being the new digs, it might work out. I know Cei-U and I have had innumerable conversations about how Classics was apart from the community as a whole, and that the community as a whole was an unpleasant place. If Classics was already apart, and the older stuff like the review threads and Christmas threads can be imported, why not just make it official?

I like the idea of having a forum where there's room for more detailed posts, articles etc. I've enjoyed Facebook but it has not been the place for longer stuff.

I think what I'll enjoy most about this place is the lack of arbitrary post restrictions. No more 10 character limit, three image limit, 1000 characters limit, signature limit (well, we may eventually need that one), etc.
