Slow and steady, wins the race, slow and steady wins the race. I've added much more fruit to my diet (purchased pre-cut melon/pineapple and snacking on that), and only drinking one (diet) cola a day for lunch. no real other changes i've been able to make, but it IS making a difference 9/20: 244.8# 9/23: 244.8# 9/27: 246.2# 10/4: 244.4# 10/8: 242.6# 10/14: 241.0# so down ~4lbs in 3 weeks.

Shax. you're hitting it out of the park. Well done. As long as you're not feeling weak, keep with the salads. I get a little light headed at two points during the day, but I think it's more a sugar crash than anything. Really, I generally feel like I have MORE energy lately as a combination of eating nutritiously, losing the weight, and planking twice a day. A nice way to feel as we head into the cold, dark months of the year. You're doing phenomenally well, tho I'd be concerned that you are messing up your metabolism by eating so little. are you spreading the salads out? (maybe eat some in the morning, a bit more 2 hours later, etc. . ). . that will help , keep your metabolism up.

Averaging more than a 1 lb loss per week is a solid victory, my friend!

I think the green tea is making a huge difference there. I do one salad for lunch and one for dinner. Today, I got a little too lightheaded and am concerned by that, so I think maybe I'll have part of my lunch salad early tomorrow in order to avoid that again. Otherwise, I feel like this is going well. Thank you for your concern!

Day 147
Today's weigh-in: 226 lbs (-1.5 lbs from yesterday, new all-time low!)
39 lbs down / 46 to go
Hunger doesn't seem to be a problem for me anymore. So long as I have sugar completely out of my system, I can manage my hunger without significant discomfort. However, that makes this a bit scarier too. Last night, I definitely began to get too groggy from lack of nutrition, so I allowed myself a bowl of yogurt and cheerios. Throughout the day, I could feel my body struggling to make it through without enough nutrition, and I'd hoped that would mean I might hit 225 today and call it a week, but alas, not yet.
I don't think I'll go spartan again today unless I'm feeling better. It doesn't seem healthy to do deprive myself like that for three days to the point of disorientation, so I am bringing yogurt and cereal to work too, but I'll keep the portion small, and I'll only have it after lunch. Two salads, a yogurt, and a serving of cereal -- I think that will keep me nourished enough while also getting me to 225 tomorrow.

Was 187.2 this morning, heading down again. Not a weight milestone today, but got a cycling one - just completed my first 1,000 miles on the bike this year (since the end of June).

Day 148Why am I posting this at 1:49 in the morning? Because I've been waking up pretty much every hour to check if I was where I wanted to be yet. Guess what? I am. Today's weigh-in: 225 lbs (-1 lb from yesterday, new all-time low!) 40 lbs down / 45 lbs to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I felt able to go spartan again yesterday, only eating two salads for the whole day. I was STARVING, but I didn't feel light-headed, so I powered through. I woke up about twenty minutes ago, saw my weight, went down to the kitchen, and promptly pigged out. I regret nothing I know me now enough to realize I'll be back on the horse Sunday or Monday and back down to 225 lbs by Tuesday or Wednesday next week. I really don't know what my next step is. Not sure if I want to do more than one day spartan each week from now on. It's too severe to make into a regular habit, I think, but I also want to lose more than one lb a week (I don't want to wait 45 more weeks to reach my goal!). I'm thinking probably go spartan for 1.5 days a week, on Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll see. But wow. I'm here. I'm really really here. Thanks, all of you, for your continued support, and especially to Icctrombone for starting this thing. Absolutely no way I would be here right now without this thread.

Awesome. You're an example for us all. As long as you feel okay, you can go commando with the salads. Can't wait to see some before and after pictures.

Can't wait to see some before and after pictures. Still got a long way to go before I'm ready to do that. Keep in mind that part of the reason I've been able to lose more than anyone else here is that I had a lot more to lose than anyone else here

Terrified to get on the scale. . went to visit my very ill Mother (cancer), and all we did all weekend was eat. my Dad kept bringing out cakes and unhealthy stuff.. . I DID manage to stick to mostly water (only one soda at Fuddrucker's, but at least it was a diet). . but yeah. .that not only torpedoed my diet, but did so before a blood draw I have to have tomorrow for my Dr. appt. next week. My sodium is gonna be thru the roof oh well. . this evening we hit the store and I stocked up on salad, mushrooms, tons of fresh fruit, and chicken.. hoping to get back on track quickly.

Target for me for this week is to finally get through 186 - I'm on my 3rd run at it, having bounced off twice: today I'm at 186.2

One of the hardest things about weight loss is that life often interrupts it. Coping with serious hardships and commiserating with your family had to take priority here. Forgive yourself for that. I am so sorry to hear about your mother and wish her and your family the absolute best of luck. Hang in there and allow yourself to be less than 100% perfect on your diet, especially when things like this happen.

So I am off the bandwagon this week. I think I dug a little too deep into the will power well last week, and now I just have absolutely no resolve to get back on track. So I'm giving myself permission to take the week off and start again next week. Chances are it'll take me until the end of the month to get back to 225, but that's going to have to be okay.
