I read every one of the Sneak Peeks for the upcoming June titles that DC Comics posted this week. You can read them HERETo review... STARFIRE: She's taking advice on a new place to live and it's a job for Superman. She's off to Key West! This looks like it could be a series like the original Kon-El Superboy from the 1990s. The art was good and if I had any interest in picking up a Starfire comic, this might do the trick. DETECTIVE: Batman's been replaced AGAIN, but this replacement looks like a good choice and is a new one. I'm always up for the Bullock and Montoya show. It's the same creative team I enjoyed before, so I'll keep this one on the pull list. SECTION EIGHT: This was...not for me. PREZ: This maxiseries was a close miss as the central character gets a bit lost in everything going on around her. Lots of plots and mystery and a look at the future. It's a daft idea, but you can get some good comics out of that. MIDNIGHTER: I thought the art was really good. The preview gave a good introduction to the character. That said, I won't be going anywhere near this comic. DOOMED: It was nice to see the Alpha Centurion one more time. It was a well done introduction and I do like this type of story. However, this was another close miss as I have no confidence in Scott Lobdell over the long term to tell a good story. GREEN LANTERN: I swear I saw this exact same story in an episode of Walker: Texas Ranger. Billy Tan is slowly getting better. I'll keep it on the pull list, but not with much enthusiasm for now. THE OMEGA MEN: 9 Panel Grid! That was an "interesting" choice for a preview story. I don't think they killed Kyle though. No sale. RED HOOD/ ARSENAL: I got through the preview without trying to swallow a bottle of Clorox. I'm not tempting fate again. GREEN ARROW: Patrick Zircher is still in fine form. Ollie takes a few weeks off to play Peter Fonda. This didn't seem to be a good preview for what's to come, but I don't follow the character at all. scorecard 10 previews 2 sales: Detective Comics and Green Lantern Not a good start, let;s see if Week 2 is any better.

My favorite Week 1 preview was Starfire, believe it or not. This preview moved Starfire from my "absolutely not" to my "maybe" list. That is pretty good! Congratulations to the creators of this preview!
Detective, coming in at #2, remains on my "if they ever sell it for 99 cents on Comixology" list.
I am particularly disappointed in the following:
Green Lantern: B-O-R-I-N-G (and I am a HUGE Hal Jordan fan)
Green Arrow: This was at the very top of my pull-list before I read this preview. It is now officially off of my pull-list. I will glance at #41, just in case this was only a fluke.
Red Hood/Arsenal: I wanted to like this. I don't really have a big problem with this preview, its just that it is B-L-A-H.
I found the remaining five either unreadable or uninteresting.
I suppose this is a good place to add that I really enjoyed the Divergence preview.
Superman, in particular, was really compelling. I have never been a big Superman fan, but he is now on my "maybe" list.
Batman and Justice League were also good.
So, at this point I have four titles on my "maybe" list:"
Superman
Starfire Justice League Green Arrow
On my "ComiXology $ale list" are:
Detective Comics Batman
I am hoping the next ten are a better batch. I must add, that I REALLY appreciate DC for offering these free previews. This makes comics more fun. It also saves me money and helps me to better select my comics.

Thanks for the recap Action Ace.
I've only read a few of the previews so far and this may come as a shocker to many of you but I actually enjoyed Starfire. I have loathed this character for decades but the new costume by Amanda Conner persuaded me to give the character a chance. The story wasn't sleazy or stuck in her cycle of her home world being destroyed, finding a new world only to have it be destroyed again. Plus she's not sporting that horrible 80s hair any more.

Maybe you and I can be the co-founders of the all-new Starfire fan club, Dr. Poison!

I'm definitely getting Starfire and I might get Detective and Green Arrow too. Those two books on the "maybe list" ... I loved the way they presented Starfire and I loved the interaction of her and Superman in the link that Action Ace provided for us. I never, ever thought I would be reading Starfire again and now I'm looking forward to June when this book gets out!

It strikes me as a pitch that might have been made for Supergirl, but is being used for Starfire instead.
