Is anyone else reading the new volume? I'm a fan of Joe Quinones' artwork and I think it fits this series perfectly. The backup story in issue #3 had me laughing so hard.

I've read the first couple. That one scene with Spider-Man...oh man...

It's getting there. There's great funny moments, but it still feels like Zdarsky is figuring out how to write an ongoing comic. I do agree about the art, though. That part is working, both Quinones and LaTour.

Howard the Duck #5 came out yesterday and it was pretty fun featured an epic brawl with a bunch of superhero cameos. I liked the editor's note gag used throughout the issue. Unfortunately the series is going on hiatus until the fall because of Secret Wars where it will start over with a new #1.

Now that Disney has bought Marvel, I'd love Howard to start looking like himself again. It's not that the new look is bad, but it just doesn't look like Howard the duck to me (the above picture reminds me of the movie more than anything else!)
i'd probably keep the pants, though.

It's one of my favorite Marvel books right now.

So I saw in all the NYCC news that Howard will have a cross-over with Squirrel Girl... newsaramaand I immediately thought of some of the folks here who are fans of both these books... it will be the sixth issue of each book's relaunched series early next year. -M

If it's even half as good as Gerber's run, I'll have to check it out.

If it's even half as good as Gerber's run, I'll have to check it out. Gerber's run is one of my all-time favorites, but it's so based in his philosophy that I can't deal with anyone else writing the book.

Yeah Much like his run on Man-Thing, I can't really imagine any one else writing the character.
