I never was able to find Wolverine as a kid. Looking at him now, yeah, I'm glad I didn't. Couldn't they have at least made the clamps on the claws brown? Sheesh! That said I always thought the Spider-Man, Cap, Magneto and Dr. Doom models were very well done.

I had those back in the day. I remember playing with them, my Super Powers figures, Transformers, Go-Bots, GI Joes, Masters of the Universe, Star Wars, Star Trek, Knight Rider, Voltron, etc. action figures all mixed together...I left my Iron Man on my babysitters stove and his hands and feet were all warped...

Less accurate, but also less jarring than bright silver clamps.

There appears to have been two versions of the Wolverine's claws, because the one I got had the silver claws clamped around the wrist. Looking at Ebay, I see both versions on sale.

I had those back in the day. I still have all of mine (and most of my old Super Powers figures, too), though I've long since lost Wolverine's claws and most of the secret shields.

I think it was a more common practice back then to have the same toy produced at more than one factory, sometimes resulting in minor variations like these. I distinctly recall my aunt from Alabama buying me a WWF Junkyard Dog figure in 1987. The one she bought me had a red chain, whereas every Junkyard Dog figure for sale in New York (where I grew up) had a gray one.

I was always loosing the Super Powers capes (those plastic clip-on rings just didn't cut it...especially for kids who switched the capes around for added amusement).

Yeah, my Super Powers Superman has been capeless for almost thirty years, now...
