CBR articleXM studios has had their license t produce X-Men and FF related products cancelled with a number of products in the pipeline. This follows a number of altered Marvel products, such as a Secret Wars commemorative T-shirt of Secret Wars #1 (80s series) with all the X-Men and FF characters replaced with Marvel Studio characters. storySo at least from a merchandising standpoint, it does seem like Marvel really is trying to put the kibosh on X-Men and the FF... -M

Unless Fox gets a percentage off merchandise that only partially features the X-Men or the FF, like this Secret Wars t-shirt, I fail to see how this sort of thing makes much of a difference in the long run. From a business perspective I get Marvel not wanting to push and promote pure X-Men material, but this sort of thing just comes off as petty to me.

And there ladies and gentleman is Ike Perlmutter in a nutshell. -M PS Fox only has rights and percentages on merch using the movie likenesses, not the comic appearances of the characters.

I thought as much in terms of the likenesses, but wasn't sure given the tangled web that is comic book movie/TV/merchandise rights. Yeah, this sort of thing doesn't do anything but piss off knowledgeable fans when they look at a shirt like that. I guess they figure the hardcore fans are so hooked at this point that it won't make much of a difference?
