I am pretty sure that DC is going to offer a new Supergirl title in October or November. I wonder what it will be like? Hopefully nothing like the last one. <YUCK> I wouldn't mind if they did a Superman/Supergirl comic based on the pre-Crisis versions. Lois and baby could be part of it too.

This all sounds pretty good to me, it plays into DC's strengths and hopefully it will make some good comics.
Kurt Busiek/Jerry Ordway Superman -Superman Earth 2 origin series- Matt Wagner/Guy Davis -Batman Earth 2 origin series-
I like the idea of Shadow of the Bat being about Earth 2 Robin and Huntress too!

Only problem is Busiek has said repeatedly he has no desire to do any work for hire stuff anymore for any publisher, and is concentrating solely on creator-owned work. -M

In fact, he said that once his creator-owned stuff is finished, he has an interesting pitch for Wonder Woman that he's hopes DC signs off on.

I think Busiek's focus is Astro City. Anything else he does is gravy, really. I'd love to see him on any mainstream title, though, he's one of the best

Just not anytime soon, although he also mentioned that Batman: Creature of the Night will probably finally be published early next year. (He wrote the initial script years ago.)

The much talked about follow up to Secret Identity!? That's fantastic news.

I don't know, I think if Kurt Busiek got to do his own Superman book without having to tie it into anything unless he wanted, I bet he would be game for 6-12 issues. I think you get Alex Ross to do some covers for that and it would be a big deal. Maybe do such a think as a single graphic novel, that might work.
I think doing modern takes on Superman and Batman set in the time when they were created could be creatively interesting. There are a good list of writers that could do that type of comic. Matt Wagner has done quite a few projects on that kind of take. Darwyn Cooke would be excellent on such a comic, but I have seen him state in a recent interview as he didn't want to get pigeonholed as just a retro comic guy.
