Copying a message from a mailing list I'm on:
I don't have any issues from those years. Anyone here into Heavy Metal in the 80s?

Rob, I've got every Heavy Metal from the 80's so yes I have access to all of Jeff Jones "I'm Age" strips... actually one of the reasons why I bought them.
I can scan the required pages although my printer/scanner/copier is just your off the shelf regular Best Buy scanner by Brother.
Would that be good enough?

It probably is good enough, so let them know at either office@grantbooks.com or robert@grantbooks.com and they can fill you in on exactly what resolution they're looking for.

That book's something to look forward to. (Didn't know it ran in HM--I just saw it in NatLamp)

The way I'm interpreting Mr. Wiener's request, it sounds like they already *have* copies of Heavy Metal from which to scan, but they want something better (presumably high-resolution scans of the original art from whoever happens to own them today, or from someone who might have owned those pages in the past).

You should be able to adjust the resolution when you're preparing to scan. Set it at it's highest setting. The scan will come out huge.

Hmm... I had originally thought that they needed scans from the magazine, but reading his message again, your interpretation may be right. I'll see if I can get clarification, or if anyone else (benday?) has contacted him already, let us know.

He answered promptly. They need:
So, does anyone here own the original art for any of these pages? If so, I am in serious envy.
My next thread asking for scans for Roy Thomas is definitely looking for scans from comics.

That book's something to look forward to. (Didn't know it ran in HM--I just saw it in NatLamp) "I'm Age" ran in Heavy Metal; while "Idyl" ran in National Lampoon. They are both pretty similar in conception and execution. "Idyl" came first, and I suppose when Jones finished his run, the editors of HM thinking highly of the strip in their sister publication asked for more. "I'm Age" certainly possesses the same whimsy, sense of the absurd, and that lingering but elliptical notion of discovery and confoundment. The two sets of monthly strips definitely have Jones delicately beautiful pen and ink art in common. "Idyl" has been previously collected (many years back), but as far as I know "Im Age" never has. I'm excited about this publication. And yes, in response to my query it's original art that is required. Wished I could have helped, but this standard of course makes the prospects all the more mouth watering.
