The newest DC Direct animated film starring twisted versions of our fammiliar DC heroes isn't out yet, but from the production stills showing Zod as Superman and Kirk Langstrum as Batman I was excited enough to actually buy one of these animated features, which I haven't in a long time. But even better than that, in advance of the film's release Machinima is putting out a series of shorts to further introduce the world of the film and the first one was fantastic!

Ha yeah, you got that right. Not just Harley's out fit but the way he smiled before digging in, definitely not your daddy's Batman.

Although I enjoyed Kirk Langstrum as Batman in the first preview I absolutely loved Zod as Superman. It could have easily gone so wrong, making him just a sadistic evil Superman who kills, but what we got was amazing; he wasn't evil, he was just more militant. He didn't relish killing the young Brainiac, in fact he actually tried to avoid it and even though he failed in that he honestly seemed to regret having to kill, but he did it anyway because he saw it was one life versus all the people of the city. It was a stunning moment and I can't wait to see more of this Superman.
However, though the WW segment had great action I don't get how Bekka as WW is anywhere as near as divergent or interesting as Batman and Superman. It's like they wanted a female character so they chose WW but didn't really know what to do with her.

I usually love Bruce Timm's work but these Chronicles are quite disappointing. This Justice League and its members appear to be in name only as they have very little similarities to the classic heroes. Plus - the series seems to be selling itself with shock value(i.e. "Superman" killing crying, toddler Brainiac and "Wonder Woman" ripping off Steve Trevor's shirt and suggesting sex in the midst of the bloody Kobra base). This just seems like different or the sake of being different. Meh.....

I've always loved Elseworlds' tales so I'd buy this just on that love alone but both the Batman and Superman previews showed some interesting takes on the characters that had very visceral, and emotionally arresting developments. The WW chapter though? Yeah, that wasn't nearly as good.

I had serious doubts for this. Bruce Timms involvement was all that gave me hope and piqued my interest. Nothing else appealed to me at all. I watched it last night... and it is goooood. So well done and a real treat. Best dc animated dtv in a long time. Just all around solid and refreshing. My one gripe is that the preview shorts aren't included in some fashion.

Also for anyone interested, the JLU styled WW figure that comes w/ the deluxe blue ray set isn't a figure. It's a solid plastic figurine. Still looks and fits great amongst the actual figures though.

I watched the movie and thought it was ok. It relied heavily on shock value and human butchery. Far from Timm's best work and definitely a slap in the face to Wonder Woman being that Becka has never had any connection to Diana like Zod does to Superman or Man-Bat does to Batman. If anything, Timm should have used Donna Troy, Artemis, Nubia, Orana, or Hippolyta in place of Becka.

It was below average and I did not care for it at all. I watched the movie not so long ago and I agree with Dr. Poison's words here on this thread. I watched it once and vowed - never, ever see it again.
