1>Bloom County. Topically weird humor. Plus Opus & Bill the Cat. 2>Calvin & Hobbes. Totally nailed the world of a strange kid's imagination. For some reason I could relate. 3>Doonesbury. Scathing political humor. 4>Get Fuzzy. Obnoxious cat, goofy dog, clueless owner. Reminds me of home. 5>Pickles. Cranky old fart. For some reason I began to relate to it as I got older...

1. The Far Side - I love absurdist humor, and few strips, if any, ever got more absurd than this. 2. Dilbert - I've lived the corporate, cube-farm life for the past 15 years, and more often than not, I completely identify with the situations in this strip. 3. Calvin and Hobbes - what's not to like about a boy and his stuffed/imaginary friend tiger? 4. Bloom County - I was a little young when this was at its heyday, so some of the political humor was lost on me, but I've grown to appreciate it more in time. 5. Fox Trot - Enjoyed it much more a few years ago, when it was fresher, but it still gives me a laugh more often than not.

1. Krazy Kat by George Herrimann. The most innovative and endearing strip ever to grace the comics page. 2. Pogo by Walt Kelly. By far, the best political satire ever in comic form. There was always more to Pogo that politics, but Kelly was just so good at it that it has to be mentioned. 3. Little Nemo in Slumberland by Windsor McCay. Those full-page layouts! That line work! So much more than th chronicles of a little boy's dreams. 4. Thimble Theater by E.C. Segar. Where Popeye got started. A serialized humor/adventure strip that must be seen to be believed. 5. Dick Tracy by Chester Gould. A precursor to Batman. And so much fun to read!

I forgot about Nancy. Nancy is freaking hysterical! I'm thinking of re-doing my list and throwing out Dick Tracy in favor of Nancy.

1. Calvin & Hobbes 2. Doonesbury 3. Bloom County 4. Peanuts 5. Get Your War On
I tend to like the edgier strips, like Pearls Before Swine, Red Meat or Boondocks back when it was still a new strip. But the classics are the classics. Except get Your War On, which was a right place, right time thing.
We did this for 12 Days of Christmas a couple years ago, didn't we? I wonder how my list has changed since then. I definitely feel like I am forgetting something here.

1. Alex in the The telegraph Smug merchant banker and his more spineless banker friend are thoroughly horrible people day in day out. www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/alex/alex-archive/2. Little Nemo In Slumberlant - just psychedelic madness - art and panel layouts havent aged a day - tour de force.

1. Bloom County 2. Calvin and Hobbes 3. Dilbert 4. Non Sequitur 5. Pearls Before Swine
I'm amazed Peanuts didn't make it into my list, but it looks like the more subversive strips won out.
