Heavy Metal will be presenting the art from Jack Kirby and Barry Geller's Lords of Light in color for the first time in the next issue of Heavy Metal (#276). To promote this, they will also be releasing a series of 14 black light prints of the artwork only available at SDCC (I think there are only 50 of each print available). They will be allowing a limited number of pre-orders through the Heavy Metal store website, but you can only pick up the prints at SDCC, they are not shipping them. That's one hell of a SDCC exclusive. Heavy Metal 275 just arrived in my mailbox this week, so 276 is due in August for those who want to check out the color art in mag size but aren't going to SDCC and able to get the prints. story from HM websitea couple of sample shots... -M

Well unless you were going to go to SDCC this year, chances are slim you would even get it for that price, you would have to pay inflated prices of the secondary market since they are only available at SDCC. -M

I've always loved those pictures, but don't dig the colors at all.
Pink and green?

I've always loved those pictures, but don't dig the colors at all. Pink and green? They're black light prints, you ave to use colors that give the black light effect if you are going to do a black light print, which is appropriate for the time these drawings were first executed. -M

How can I land a copy of that issue ? Comic shops should carry it. You can order directly from Heavy Metal on their website store when it's released. -M

Heavy Metal is selling prints at SDCC of Kirby's Argo work for $ 210 ea Before the King of Comics’ debut in the pages of our hallowed (and now humbled) magazine, we present this mind-blowing artwork in a series of limited edition blacklight prints! Barry Geller & Jack Kirby’s “Lord of Light” artwork is set to appear in color for the first time in Heavy Metal #276, and to celebrate, we’re giving Comic Con attendees a chance to own a piece of history in bold psychedelic blacklight! These pieces by Geller & Kirby, mostly unseen before now, are part of American history as they were the artwork used by the CIA for Operation: Argo, which helped free American embassy workers during the Iranian coup in 1979. Price: $210.00 each (14 in the set) Thank you so much for letting me know about this, mrp !

Between this and SHIELD #9, it's a good time for Kirby fans.
(For those who haven't read the various news articles. S.H.I.E.L.D. #9 will contain a previously unpublished S.H.I.E.l.D. story by Jack Kirby, inked by Steranko).

When is someone going to hand the screenplay over to one of Kirby's better apists (like Steve Rude) to adapt into a comic already?
