This November Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden are bringing forth a new horror comic based on their 2012 novel about an ancient golem originally awoken to hunt witches around a small Jewish village turned 1930's shamus. I loved the novel, and the comic based on Golden and Mignola's other novel Baltimore(which I also loved) is amazing as well so I'm pretty excited for this prequel comic. www.newsarama.com/24971-mignola-creates-his-own-occult-detective-in-joe-golem.html

Some great preview images have been released: I love how the golem seems to be rooted to the earth he was created from, that's a fantastic visual hook. I'm pumped for this book!

I got the Dark Horse Sampler: Mike Mignola Builds Characters just to get the extended sneak peak of Joe Golem and it was well worth it. There was this awesome change in the art style when it transitioned from the past to the present that just floored me so I'm really excited to read more next month.

Just finished the first issue, and I have to say that although between the preview and what we saw in the Mignola sampler I had pretty much already read the first issue(seriously there were maybe 6 new pages that I hadn't seen, talk about spoiling myself!) it was a good beginning. So far there is no connection to his "dream" of being a golem and the case he's on but I look forward to seeing that developed further.
