I seem to recall a horrible, horrible storyline in MTIO where The Thing was a professional wrestler. Or was that just a nightmare? I'm pretty sure that was his solo series, as I recently read MTIO from start to finish and don't recall that being part of that series. That was indeed his solo series.

After pulling out some long ago filed short boxes, I found a big run of Marvel Team-Up that I've never really read. I did read a few when I bought the run, but didn't really fall in love with them at the time, so just filed them away and forgot about them.
There's a few issues pre #50, a good chunk from #50 to #100, then most from #100up.
I'm just wondering, is this series worth reading, and if so, what are some recommendations for the best ones to start with? Or is it not worth the time and should I just flick them off for what I can get (I see some are starting to increase in price, so might be a good time to let them go).
Any thoughts/advice is greatly appreciated. My best offer is this: Name an issue of Marvel Team-Up and I will tell you why it is brilliant.

Ah yes, a classic for the ages which - like most truly great art- will only be recognized as the work of genius is after we are long dead. Most importantly, this actualizes the long-running subtext of the Marvel Universe is made text, and we realize that Aunt May is actually a major deity, even when she is not holding a lamp! And it's Greg Laroque's best issue of the series, art-wise. Galactus, especially, comes off Kirby epic and God-like. [img src=" i24.photobucket.com/albums/c42/Ludymark/25a9d6d2-b026-410d-91d8-1190974e167d_zpsv7pqrdjx.jpg" src=" " alt=" "] (Sorry for the bad cropping. The Photobucket editor is unimaginably terrible. It's basically a miracle that this exists at all. No one will create a worse photo editor, ever. No one will come close. This is the platonic ideal.) I also REALLY like the pacing here - In the beginning it's structured like a regular issue of Marvel Team-Up and it just sloooowly gets weirder and weirder until the Pilsbury Dough Boy shows up. Plus it plays completely fair with the rules on the cover - It makes major changes to the structure of the Marvel Universe, and it's not a hoax or a What If.

Somebody saw from the cover that Aunt May battled Galactus and then had to ask what was brilliant about it?
I no longer understand this world.

I can understand your hesitation about this issue, especially if your tolerance for tongue-in-cheek, silly stories is low. But actually, this issue is very enjoyable and as Reptisaurus! has pointed out, the artwork is very nice.

I've always had a plan to buy every issue of that assistant editors month, but like most of my collecting plans, it's buried under others at the moment.
