So, I had picked up the Adam Strange/Future Quest special, and it was decent (just about exactly what I would have expected).. neat that it fit in the continuity of both stories. The big thing, IMO, is the Top Cat back up... the bascially set him up to be Howard the Duck in the DCU, and (maybe) a Bat villain to boot.. anyone heard anything else about that? there's a BC article about it, but it doesn't really say anything that's not implied by the 'to be continued in.. Top Cat' blurb on the last page. I don't know if they announced the when yet(Maybe September or October), but the Top Cat book is defiantly part of the second wave of Hanna-Barbera books. I thought all the backups were previews of the next HB books due out sometime this fall?

I started the fourth OHC of Mark Waid's Daredevil series last night. Tore through four issues just like that. These are some amazing comics. If you haven't read them yet, get onto it.

I read the first Deadly Class tpb today. I'll be heading back into town to buy the rest in the next couple of days. Yeah, I got a deal about a year or two ago with a bundle of first issue Image comics. Deadly Class was SO good. Hooked me !

The Old Guard #1-4 by Rucka and Leandro Fernandez.
Rucka does it again, yet another great title featuring a strong female lead, this time revolving around immortality and the emotional costs and effects of such a condition. This is my first exposure to Fernandez's art which is certainly eye-catching and unique in style.

I'm getting closer and closer to having all the issues of the New 52 Catwoman series. I got #23 and #26 this week, both from a long-term storyline titled Gotham Underground, which hasn't really impressed me while I've been reading in pieces, out-of-order, drawn out over several years. I have all the chapters now, so maybe I'll like it better if I read it in sequence. The Joker's Daughter is in it. She's such a whacko! She always adds a few points just from being such a whacko. I also got #30, which is the first chapter in a storyline called "Race of Thieves" and I don't have the next two parts yet. I do have the conclusion (in #33) but I've had it for a while and it must not have made any sense to me because I don't remember it at all. I liked the first chapter of "Race of Thieves" a lot! If the rest of the first 30 (or so) issues of New 52 Catwoman had been as good as this, I wouldn't make fun of them so much!

Been catching up on a number of trades I had picked up before my surgery as I recover. Some are more modern stuff, some classic. Of the modern stuff I have read through...
Dr. Fate Vol. 1 and 2 (the Paul Levitz/Sonny Liew series)-not your classic Dr. Fate but a very entertaining read and I love Liew's expressive almost cartoony style mixed with the cosmic/otherworldly set pieces he provides in telling the story.
Descender Vol. 3-this series continues to blow me away. Lemire and Nguyen are producing a great sci-fi tale.
Trees Vol. 2-Ellis continues to explore interesting themes and present characters that draw you in and hook you into the story.
Okko Vol. 1-traditional Japanese storytelling told through the lens of the European/French comic book tradition. I really enjoyed the first volume and have volume 2 to get through as well.
Not a comic, but I also read Dr. Strange: The Fate of Dreams prose novel by Devin Grayson. A well told Dr. Strange tale in the classic tradition that mixes in some of the more modern takes on Doc but actually makes it work well.
I may be forgetting something, if so I'll add it in later.
I'll cover the classic stuff in that forum.

Stuff Ive read recently for the past couple of days
Superman Convergence Superman Lois and Clark where they're in Flashpoint universe and they're doing pretty well which even surprised me. Marvel's Infinity. Im up to issue 4. Its ok just a little hard to understand with bunch of stuff going on with Thanos demanding "tributes" and then Silver Surfer side story where hes trying to save Skrulls from giant robots or whatever.

Waiting to hear more as it moves along.

I'm kind of glad the title stayed around and wasn't abruptly canned once Rebirth started. Levitz's writing can sometimes venture into the realm of mildly nauseating, but I felt like he was a good fit for Fate. Plus it was a good story about the life of a Middle Eastern kid, a little bit of a copy cat of Ms. Marvel, but still a worthwhile read

Seven to Eternity by Rick Remender and Jerome Opeña An interesting fantasy story with a sci-fi look about a band of magic users who unite to free their realm from The God of Whispers.
