As I mentioned elsewhere, I started reading comic books 40 years ago this month, in 1975. So my big reading project right now is to read the Marvel Comics I would have read if I'd started reading exactly one year earlier, in 1974. I've discovered that Len Wein's name pops up quite a bit during this time period--a name I remember from childhood but who I don't hear mentioned too often as one of the greats. That could just be me not paying attention. I gotta say, though, I'm really digging Len's writing on these 70s books. His narration especially had spark--It seemed like he was having fun while writing the captions. Anyway, just wondering if there's an overall feeling about Mr. Wein....

I'm not a HUGE fan of his writing, but the guy has created one of my Top 3 favorite characters of all-time (Swamp Thing) and one of my favorite villains of all-time (Anton Arcane). Alan Moore took both characters to another level, but Wein and Bernstein were the godfathers.
You also have to credit Wein for essentially saving the X-Men from falling into a black hole of irrelevance.

I'm a pretty big fan. His work on Swamp Thing and Green Lantern rank among my favorite for both characters.

Like his writing, love his editing. He's my favorite Hulk, Phantom Stranger and Justice League scripter and one of my favorites on Batman, Spider-Man, Green Lantern, Fantastic Four and Defenders. As an editor, he's responsible for some of the best DC books of the early '80s, including The New Teen Titans and All-Star Squadron. On top of all that, he's a helluva nice guy.
Cei-U! I'm keen on Wein!

His Swamp Thing was a major reason I got hooked on comics as a ~6 year old; so while I've read little of his other work, he'll always be a favorite for me.

I love his horror work and like his superhero work, and when he blends the two it's the best.

To me, I have known of his work on Green Lantern, Justice League, Hulk, Defenders, and Swamp Thing. He's a very easy knowing guy that relate well with his fans and his work on the All Star Squadron in the 1980's were gems.

He is a solid writer and I really enjoy his Spidey and Batman stuff personally. I wouldn't say he is the most amazing writer but definitely an underrated player for both Marvel and DC through the 70's and 80's.
Also, this may be silly but how is Wein pronounced? I have always said it as "Wine".

I knew he wrote a bunch of mainstream stuff, but I didn't realize how much of his stuff I probably read and enjoyed. Pretty much all of those titles were in my 70s thru 90 wheelhouse.

His work throughout the Bronze age and beyond was very solid and enjoyable. I was never disappointed by seeing his name on a story.

I'm also a fan of Wein. And wine. Which also how I assumed it was pronounced. I think his Swamp Thing is the best of all ST I've read. I know there's more he's done whose titles would Id be like "Oh yeah". Werewolf by Night I am thinking is one of those. I'm sure if I looked at Wein's publishing history there's a lot of his books I have in my collection.

I just finished reading his run on Thor last month and beginning of this one, and it wasn't bad. Lot of sci-fi stuff and some odd stories, like Thor and Firelord teaming up to overthrow a Central American dictator.
He did an OK run on Amazing Spider-Man, and I know his work on Incredible Hulk is pretty well thought-of, although I have not gotten that far in the series.
