I've seen a lot of Bogart too. I keep thinking I must have seen all the good ones, then I'll see something like You Can't Get Away with Murder or The Return of Dr. X or The Two Mrs. Grenvilles or Battle Circus and I realize that he made A LOT of good movies.
Or something like Virginia City where he plays a Mexican bandit. He's so bad he's hysterical! I wish the second half of Virginia City was as good as the first half. (I've got this from Netflix several times over the last few years because I like the first part so much.)
And then there's something like China Clipper which is quite dull.

There's a whole bunch from 1928-1936 I have not seen, when he was basically a bit player or small roles. But from 1941 up,the ones Ineed to see for the first time (or don't remember seeing)are The Big Shot,Conflict,Knock on Any Door,Tokyo Joe,Chain Lightning,The Enforcer,Deadline USA and Left hand Of God

I saw the rest of A Thousand Clowns late last night. (I got distracted by errands and dinner and walking the dog.)
I sympathize with Murray Burns so much.
And such a great bunch of actors! Jason Robards, Barbara Harris, William Daniels, Martin Balsam, even gnomish Barry Gordon.

The Big Shot - I'm pretty sure I've never seen it.
Conflict - I read the IMDB description and I'm sure I would remember that. It sounds good. I don't know how I've missed it.
Knock on Any Door - It has its moments, but I'm not a big fan. Character actor Vince Barnett is in it. He's the wise-ass photographer in The Corpse Vanishes. He's the guy who gets thrown off the roof by Bela Lugosi in Bowery ay Midnight. He's the goofy security guard in The Death Kiss.
Tokyo Joe - I don't remember it very well but I do remember that I didn't think too highly of it. Kind of interesting for its postwar Japan setting.
Chain Lightning - Another one I'm not too hot on.
The Enforcer - Not bad at all.
Deadline - USA - A lot of fun.
Left Hand of God - I've never seen it.

I bought On the Waterfront, The Freshman and Rosemary's Baby this week. I think I'm going to get some sushi and watch one of them (most likely Rosemary's Baby). On the Waterfront is my favorite dramatic movie of all-yime. Just about as perfect a film you can name, IMO.

That's the Harold Lloyd film, not the Brando thing. Well, that's different then. Love Lloyd, though. Safety Last is a masterpiece.

I'm watching Picnic at Hanging Rock right now on TCM for the very first time. I've never seen the whole thing, but I've caught large chunks of it a few times. It looks really good. I hope they have it on TCM On Demand so I can watch the whole thing this weekend. I thought it was outstanding. I have been meaning to see it for years and I'm happy to finally have checked it off my list. Very eerie, wonderful acting and quite suspenseful.

Trapeze (1956) Burt Lancaster,Tony Curtis,Gina Lollabrigida D-Carol Reed
Mike Ribble (Lancaster) was once a great trapeze artist - and the only to have completed a triple somersault - before his accident. Tino (Curtis)joins the circus, and manages to covince Mike to teach him the 'triple'. Meanwhile Lola (Lolabrigida), a tumbler, wants to get in on the act. Not the greatest circus movie ever, but the best that focuses on the aerialist performers.Wonderful shots of the act from cameras on the roof of the big top as well as below the net.The movie has perfect bright saturated colors.Lancaster always impresses when showing off his athletic ability and does his the actual performance.Curtis is also in fine form. And Gina Lollabrigida is scorching hot in her little sequined tu-tu.her stunt double broke her nose during the filming and some long shots used a guy in drag as the double.Do not zoom in.Its 2/3 circus time and 1/3 romantic triangle which can be hokey at times.Elephants, horses, snakes, lions and of course a chimp.Filmed in Paris 7 of 10 stars Seconded. As for Gina, I definitely understand why my father likes her. Mama mia!

I probably haven't seen every Bogart film, but it has to be close to all of them. Think Dead End was the first, followed by The Oklahoma Kid and The Return of Dr. X (Bogie hated the latter because he thought his character was too effeminate, but he really does a fine, but bizarre bit of acting there). Favorite Bogie film? The one based in Morocco.

The funny thing is I have seen both versions of The Freshman quite a few times. Maybe I need a nap...

The Harold Lloyd version of On the Waterfront is a scream! When the union thugs throw Harold out the window, he just grabs the ledge and climbs up the building to safety! Then he hi-jacks a trolley and rides to the rescue to save Eva Marie Saint!
Of course, the most famous scene is when Harold is in the car with Rod Steiger, and he's throwing his arms around on the verge of tears, and the title card says I could have been a contender!
