Mexican Spitfire Heads-Up!
If anybody is interested in some insane and hysterical farce from the 1940s, TCM is showing films from The Mexican Spitfire series on Saturday mornings. Tomorrow morning at 7:30 am (Pacific time), TCM had scheduled "Mexican Spitfire's Elephant."
I don't know if it's any good. I remember the title but I don't remember the movie. It might mean that I've seen it but don't remember it, or it might mean that I remember the title because I saw it on the schedule and thought it sounded like it might make a good Mexican Spitfire movie.
I've seen several Mexican Spitfire movies and I usually find them pretty funny. A couple of them are laugh-out-loud hurt-yourself-laughing funny.
And they're only a little over an hour long! Well worth the time. Check out Mexican Spitfire's Elephant. Check local listings.

I have the 8 movie Spitfire collection on DVD.In a week or so I'll most likely want to tackle another movie series. Not a huge one as the Chans exhaustively proved to be (which means Blondie and Tarzan take a seat for now)but it might come down between Spitfire and Mr Moto.We shall see.Either way they both look good

I've seen five or six of the Moto films. They're great!
There's one of them - I think it's Think Fast, Moto - that I used to watch all the time. I have a DVD set with four Moto movies. Most of them I've seen two or three times, but Think Fast, Mr. Moto, that one I've seen probably 10 or 12 times. It has Rochelle Hudson and she's easy on the eyes. (Her most famous film is Rebel Without a Cause. She was Natalie Wood's mother.)
Looking forward to your next series of reviews!

I'm watching A Thousand Clowns right now. That was a good movie. Saw it for the first time back in the mid-'80s, though I first read an excerpt of it in one of those old Scholastic Books flyers we used to get in high school. Barry Gordon was kind of creepy, though, only because he seemed like a miniaturized version of himself from Archie Bunker's Place and Fish.

I bought On the Waterfront, The Freshman and Rosemary's Baby this week. I think I'm going to get some sushi and watch one of them (most likely Rosemary's Baby).

That's the Harold Lloyd film, not the Brando thing.

I'm watching Picnic at Hanging Rock right now on TCM for the very first time. I've never seen the whole thing, but I've caught large chunks of it a few times. It looks really good. I hope they have it on TCM On Demand so I can watch the whole thing this weekend.

Not adverse to Cisco but I gotta go first with what I own on DVD and haven't watched yet

Trapeze (1956) Burt Lancaster,Tony Curtis,Gina Lollabrigida D-Carol Reed
Mike Ribble (Lancaster) was once a great trapeze artist - and the only to have completed a triple somersault - before his accident. Tino (Curtis)joins the circus, and manages to covince Mike to teach him the 'triple'. Meanwhile Lola (Lolabrigida), a tumbler, wants to get in on the act.
Not the greatest circus movie ever, but the best that focuses on the aerialist performers.Wonderful shots of the act from cameras on the roof of the big top as well as below the net.The movie has perfect bright saturated colors.Lancaster always impresses when showing off his athletic ability and does his the actual performance.Curtis is also in fine form. And Gina Lollabrigida is scorching hot in her little sequined tu-tu.her stunt double broke her nose during the filming and some long shots used a guy in drag as the double.Do not zoom in.Its 2/3 circus time and 1/3 romantic triangle which can be hokey at times.Elephants, horses, snakes, lions and of course a chimp.Filmed in Paris 7 of 10 stars

I love circus movies but I have never seen Trapeze. But now I want to see it because GINA LOLABRIGIDA! (Have you ever seen The Law?)
One really amazing under-rated circus movie is The Wagons Roll at Night (1941). Humphrey Bogart is the circus owner and Eddie Albert is a guy who works in a smalltown grocery store who has some natural ability to control lions!
It's quite a lot of fun.
