Has the “Xudarians have wings” thing ever appeared outside of Green Lantern 56#? Because the shirtless Tomar-Re vs. Xudarian criminal thing seems drawn by a Hawkman artist who had nothing to do except that. Also, butt wings in a panel.

Does anyone know where the heck is this from? Not sure, the art definitely looks like Joe Kubert though. -M

Ok doing a little google fu on El Dragon I came up with this... DC Super Dictionary so it looks like a specially produced product by DC as a reading aid for school aged kids in the 70s. -M

I’m just gonna assume it’s either a very good fancomic or there is a 4-page origin story inside one of those books.

I’m just gonna assume it’s either a very good fancomic or there is a 4-page origin story inside one of those books. I am not sure what you mean by fan comic here. It was drawn by Joe Kubert for an special project commissioned from/licensed by DC. No different than say one of their drug awareness comics or a storybook featuring DC characters, just sold to schools and literacy programs not the general public. It was professional work, i.e. a project the creators were hired for and paid to do, done by one of the legends of the industry. As for the exact contents of those products, I am not sure, as I have never seen one in person and wasn't aware of them before yesterday (though I did send pics to a number of my friends who are comics dealers and buy collections/travel to shows so they can keep an eye out for it for me and if they see it give me a ballpark number on what the market price for it is). It is not something done as part of their regular line of comics, but it is not a fancomic. It was likely done by the licensing/marketing division, much like all the model sheets Jose Garcia-Lopez did for the DC Style Guide. Professional work, just not part of their monthly output of comics. -M

Yup, probably just a 4-page origin for him and nothing else.

I see 'mycomicshop'/Lonestar has one Super A title listed at least; it's dated as 1977. It says: "Warner Educational Services/DC Comics "Motivational Reading Kit" magazine featuring reprint stories starring Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Rex the Wonder Dog, and Tomahawk. 8.25-in. x 10.75-in.; full color; 32 pages. There's definitely a few on ebay... one shows a copyright date of 1977.. the auctioneers I found reference Kubert pencils and Argones inks. THere are also some Super B and Super BB ones... reading levels I assume. One even shows a teachers guide with exercises and such. (search for 'Warner Education Services comic on ebay and you'll see a bunch)

A.I.M... Advanced Idea Mechanics... I know it spells "aim", but because of the points I always pronounced it as three separate letters (and it sounds like an evil IBM).
Anyone else does that?
