Re-reading X-Men yet again... Both Incredible Hulk 180/181 as well as Giant-Size X-Men have Wolverine stationed at a base in Quebec. Can it then be inferred that Wolverine is at least conversational in French, even if he's not French Canadian himself? Or would his colleagues and superiors address him in English? I'm assuming that a position with the Canadian intelligence service and a posting at Quebec would benefit from his knowing French. A few minutes' Googling reveals that Wolverine has been shown on-panel speaking many languages, including Farsi, German, Mandarin, and Thai. But he's never been shown specifically speaking French, or saying that he can. You might think there'd be some interchange with him and Gambit speaking French, but apparently not. However, there is a moment with Rogue and Northstar speaking French: This raised in my mind the question of just when Rogue learned French. The dialogue above implied that she grew up in a normal family in the Mississippi delta country. That appears to be the backstory elaborated by non-Claremont authors as well. But I remember an interview in which Chris Claremont said that Rogue was the biological daughter of Destiny and Mystique (who had shapechanged into a man for the occasion). So where did Claremont think that Rogue got her Southern/Cajun upbringing? Surely Mystique didn't spend a decade cooling her heels in rural southern Mississippi.

Wait, what? When Mystique impersonates a man, all her internal organs become male, including the production of sperm? That is bizarre!

Are there any real strong Black Bolt stories or runs? I love him as a character, visually, but have really only ever read old 70s Inhumans and a smattering of other appearances. Is there a definitive issue/run/series where he shines? Thanks!

Maybe Inhumans Judgement Day? But it's a pretty recent book (2018 I think)

Recent is fine...I am just wondering if Black Bolt has ever had a story that people loved or that was viewed as a strong story. Just seems him and the Inhumans in general have always been bit players and never really had a moment to shine. It is like no one knows what to do with em.

Black Bolt has always kind of been in the background in Inhumans story, as the others were usually center stage, since they could speak. Given the experiments in silent stories, I'm surprised no one tried one with him (or maybe they did and I am unaware). They came up with an interesting hook, that the slightest whisper was destructive; but, they then hamstrung themselves for using the character as a central component in the stories. I've seen some action stuff and a lot of people emoting around him; but, not as much that centered intensely on Black Bolt.
Still waiting for his crossover with Blue Bolt, Bolt, and Captain Thunder & Blue Bolt.

The only Inhuman story that seemed to captivate fans and gain both critical and popular acclaim was the Marvel Knight maxi-series by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee. I read it when it came out, but haven't revisited in since, but I don't recall Blackbolt playing a major role in it, so I am not sure it qualifies for what the OP is looking for, but it is the series most people point to when asked for a story that works and features the Inhumans as something other than background players.

And, like you, I haven't read it since it first came out. Maybe I'll re-visit it after I finish up with Planetary. And follow it up with Ellis' Karnak.

There was a Black Bolt centered storyline in Amazing Adventures when it was a split book with Black Widow. Its been awhile since I read it, but it was something about him being lost in NYC or something and making friends with a regular kid, while the inhumans tried to find him. He might have had amnesia or something? Neal Adams did some of the art, so there was a time when that was a well known Black Bolt storyline.

Much stronger IMO than their brief solo title from the 70s. I just figured someone at some point must have done something more with him. It would be neat to have a silent issue, or even him narrate. Maybe I have finally found my existing MCU character who has never really had a chance to shine and can get to work on the story I have always wanted to write.....
