MAD magazine in colour just never looked right to me.
There! I said it. (Oops, wrong thread).

For years and years I waited for Afterlife with Archie: Betty R.I.P. (second book in the Afterlife with Archie series).
It was announed, then delayed, delayed and delayed again, and although I didn't pre-order it it stayed in my Amazon cart. The series itself seemed to be on permanent hiatus to to the involvement of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa with the Archie TV shows, so I wasn't overly surprised that the paperback was not published; I just bided my time.
However, the book is now listed as having been published in September 2019. It is also listed on Goodreads. It has a proper ISBN. All of which point out to the book actually existing, but all the reviews I've seen were about the individual issues, not the collection; plus, the book is nowhere to be found on ebay.
My question is... Has anyone seen that book? Was it published at all? I would guess not, but it's both odd and strangely appropriate that such a non-existent book would haunt the internet.

I saw this feedback on Amazon
I preordered this book August 20, 2015- over four years ago at this point- and it still hasn’t shipped. Like the previous reviewer said, it’s been delayed many times- usually with an email saying when the next “release date” will be with an option to cancel the order. I’ve never cancelled it because at this point, it’s just hilarious. Every time we get close to the date, I expect the email. I was disappointed this time when the date came and went and they never notified us (just listed “shipping delayed” under orders).
That being said, the comic itself is good. It’s been around so long that you can download the library app “hoopla” and read it digitally for free. I read it years ago around the time of the second delay.
As for the physical book, it will probably never release and be a pending order for the rest of my life- I’ll likely have to put it in my will so it can be passed down through future generations.

I wouldn't be surprised if the series never came back. I talked with Robert Hack last year at the Three Rivers Comicon and he indicated that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was likely done as well. They had just put out issue #8 a little while earlier, but he said that Aguirre-Sacasa was completely wrapped up in the various TV shows and he (Hack) had no script for issue #9.

I'm looking to read DC from around 2000 through at least Infinite Crisis, and was wondering if anybody familiar could help me with what series are important for that era. As they are what got me into comics initially, Johns' books of the era are my main interest, but I want to have the context of everything going on, so I'm trying to hit all the big/important series (and events) of that time. I may eventually go on to Final Crisis or Flashlpoint, but for now up through Infinite Crisis is my focus.
So far I plan to read: JSA, Teen Titans, Flash, Hawkman, JLA, Superman, Action, Batman, Detective, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, Nightwing, Robin, Indentity Crisis, Days of Vengeance, OMAC, Rann-Thanagar War, Infinite Crisis. Is there anything especially good and/or imporant I'm missing?

I'm kind of new to the comic book world and was hoping someone could tell me which comic book this catfight came from. I know it's
from the Golden Age of comics but that's about all I know.

Does anyone know... if I have only Wonder Woman #130-133 (1998) is it a more or less complete story? I've never tried Byrne WW (outside what was in Action #600 and WW Annual #1 which I liked a lot), and thought maybe these four issues were a good place to try what with the Justice Society appearing. I can sort of make out that there is an ongoing identity storyline in the title but do I need to know more about that to follow this story? Thanks.

I had the entire run. I remember it being part of a larger story. Diane dies and Hippolyta takes over as WW. I think this story shows here when she was WW in the golden age. As a whole, Byrnes WW run was kind of dull. This is when Byrne started to lose his mojo, IMHO.

Thanks! I'll try to follow this Hippolyta angle now.
He left for Marvel just after this so maybe he was searching for his Mojo... and did X-Men: The Hidden Years picking up from the Thomas/Adams/etc. original comic he refers to as a favorite. I have all of those, and while there were highlights I would say the decompressed storytelling of the time was in effect a bit. A four part story used to be an extreme rarity, even the greatest Kirby era Fantastic Four epics (Inhumans, Galactus) were done in three at most and usually two (Black Panther, Him-Warlock).

I was really disappointed in Bryne's Wonder Woman run except for this 4 issue JSA arc. I liked this arc enough to wish that Byrne would do a JSA series or even a JSA/Invaders cross over. My problems with Byrne's WW was Diana became a supporting character in her own book. Hippolyta became the star. He also tried to fix Donna Troy origin and made it worse.

I thought it was OK, maybe worth a read, but a lot of people have a higher opinion of it than I do. As far as importance goes, it does advance the New Gods saga, but I don't know if the changes it made were of much concern to anyone who wrote the New Gods after Walt.

That series is under-rated.
Really great stuff there.
