I've seen copies of some of the the Harvey Horrors and Roy Thomas Presents at Half Price Books and flipped through them, and they looked like solid products, but I don't own any of them. -M

I'll have to read more on the company because that was a UK site, I think? So, if they're UK based, I wonder if they're easily found in the US. I've never seen them before, so I'm not sure.

"Who put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp? / Who put the ram in the rama lama ding dong? / Who put the bop in the bop shoo bop shoo bop? / Who put the dip in the dip da dip da dip?"
Was this question ever answered? Sure, they say these are simply the lyrics from a song from 1961, but I'd like to know if it ever was. Thanks.

The slipcase editions are pricier than what I typically pay for hardcovers from IST, but they look really nice. Not looking to add right now, but it's nice to know I can get them when/if I ever am.

I own a couple of those (Phantom Lady volumes). The books are very nice quality. The comic reproduction quality can vary a little because they basically just printed copies of the best quality pages they could find from original comic books, and didn't do any fancy clean-up or re-coloring. Thus some issues aren't quite as nice as others, but still they are overall very good.

Fantagraphics look like almost exact reprints of the comics with a bit of clean up. They are not touched up nearly as much as MMWs or DC Archives books, though.

All I have to compare from Fantagraphics is the Donald Duck/Uncle Scrooge books; I think those look a lot cleaner than what I remember of the PS Artbooks. I'll have to dig up my PS books when I get home to see if I'm remembering correctly.

If they're crappy reprints, I won't waste my money. But, MAN! I'm a sucker for anything with Roy Thomas' name slapped on it. Same for Bill Everett, but yeah.

Does anyone know of a story where Superman (or possibly Superboy) explains that his home planet's name is pronounced KRIP-tun rather than krip-TAHN?

I discovered this website looking for a reading order of the Nocturna stories through Batman and Detective (thanks shaxper!). I was a bit too young to understand comics when these were published, so I only had 2-3 random issues and now as an adult I want to seek out the entire story.
That's the setup. Now the question...
I feel that because of my age I missed some good stuff in the late 70's/early 80's and would like to collect a good "experience" from this era. There's lots of "must read X" threads on this website, but I'm looking to capture some nostalgia here.
So, what comics (regardless if they're classic "must reads" or not) capture this era best?

I've looked through some of the Harvey Horror books - Not Godawful, but nowhere near Fantagraphics good. I've got a couple of the later AGC horror books (which PS Art Books reprint) and some of the stories are by the same creative team as Herbie, which means they are cheerfully bug %^$& insane and I love them, but I didn't have any strong reaction to any of the earlier horror stuff. And I dunno when the O'Shea/Whitney stuff starts. (I would be all over a collection of their work alone in a heartbeat, though!) I'm not a huge horror anthology fan IN GENERAL though. Edit: I've never read any of the Roy Thomas presents stuff. Sorry. I'll get around to it someday!

I may give them a pass then if they are not up to Fantagraphics quality.

They might get better - Man, they are not about showing off their interior pages on their site, though. That is not a good sign.
